I've blocked most of my progressive friends from my news feed. Over the last few years, they've all just darkened - it's like rolling storm clouds eternally-churn over their sunny outlook, so they share nothing but endless morally-superiority and snark, mistaking the latter for positive humour. The more I think about this story, the more I think what bothers me is that it exposes the contempt some media people have for the public.

I worked with such people: they grew up in the best places, went to all the best schools, and when the time came to write for the public, they acted like they were royalty, and the people were beneath them.

Journalism was historically a blue-collar job, but Big Media turned it into an elitist "profession." And it comes out in what we read or watch.

What bothers a lot of us about the constant SJW campaigns from the media is only partially what these campaigns are about. The other half is that they're patronizing. They come off as if everyone is a bunch of idiots and we don't know "not to rape" (who isn't "taught" this?) or randomly shame fat people walking by or catcall or dozens of other things.

This video, to me, exposed that class of people. Contempt for the working class seems, to me, very specific to the elite media. While pop stars and sports heroes might have more money, these are people who went into business to be loved or admired by the public, not to "enlighten the unwashed masses."

Journalism in the 20th century sought to educate, not indoctrinate. It's the hallmark of the arrogant ruling class that does the latter. While we'd all be angry if our car was impounded, most of us would complain to the owner, do a review on Yelp, or challenge them in court.

Only someone with contempt for the public would take it out on the worker behind the counter and continue to do so after they're told a camera is running. While her behavior isn't reflective off all media people, it definitely exposes an attitude too many of them have. And don't think that doesn't show in their writing and reporting.

Everytime media talking heads and journalists get self righteous about some athlete's refusal to answer questions (or Bill Belichick) it gets on my nerves. They say things like "They owe the public a better explanation!" Who do they think they are that some grown man owes them an explanation about anything? The arrogance is sickening. I stopped listening to certain radio people for that reason alone.

At first I thought it was about money, like with the OKC Thunder players and their feud with the local newspapers. Like, without soundbites, they cannot get paid or sell to the larger national papers, etc. I dunno. I sounds more personal than that, but I really would not know.

Also in reality she does not look so hot - she really gave it to the woman there going high sarcasm on pretty much everything that the US underclass is famous for.

In countries like Switzerland or Norway it would not be as obvious - also something like that would result in instant firing and social suicide.

I disagree she is getting some type of "pussy pass". They didn't fire Berman, and his rant on set was just as bad. The truth is this isn't a " manosphere" story, in my opinion anyway. To me, it is simply a reflection on the media. Media people are generally unpleasant.

This makes me wonder if she'd said the same things to a man, would she have gotten suspended or would she have made Upworthy: "Watch this savvy reporter tell off the clerk who held her car hostage."

Towing definitely is a racket. So is car repair. But she should have done what I did. When an auto repair place quoted me $1600 and I got another place to do the repair for $160, I went out on Yelp and told the whole story, then wrote to the local TV station's "iTeam."

Seven months later and after a long, hard winter the car is running great. Thieves.

All women are well aware of the realities of social stratification and all know their rank within it, so, when angered, are quick to point out their superiority to the cause of their anger, because women are incapable of handling any sense of power over another with charm and grace, and because, being creatures of feeling, their favourite attack tactic is to try to emotionally-wound others.

- Class shaming
- Ugly / weight shaming
- Wardrobe shaming
- Popularity shaming
- Power (usually through employment) shaming

Even uglier women of lower social status use these tactics:

- Intelligence shaming
- Moral inferiority shaming
