a couple of things...

-I live in Arlington - that towing company is about as sleazy as towing companies can get, and thats saying something. They really are predators. And if you've ever had your car towed for some BS and had to pay $200 to pick it up I doubt you were in a cheerful mood. And that video was edited, who knows what the fat chick was saying back to her.

-Before she started working for ESPN she was the sports reporter for the local ABC affiliate in Washington DC. Keep in mind DC isnt exactly LA or NYC when it comes to hot chicks, so she has been getting her ass kissed around town pretty much non stop for the last 5 years. I'm sure she thinks her shit doesnt stink.

-She's also not from here - she grew up in Florida, played Soccer at a liberal college somewhere, and went to journalism school at Northwestern. So she's 'educated' with typical worthless degrees.

Why the fuck should this stupid bitch be fired? She used mean words in a personal dispute with a towing company, completely unrelated to work. In what way is that grounds for a firing? Now that company may indeed be the scum of the earth doing plenty of illegal or questionable towing, but still - she lost her cool in a way which showed way too much of her personality than she would love to. It's not as if the the towing company attendant was the owner of the joint.

I just see this as a case of someone who is foolish and unaccustomed to exercising power/privilege in a responsible way. I'm guessing she is not from an established family. None of her actions were calculated, and they in no way benefited her.

Before you start an interaction, you need to decide what you want, if this interaction can achieve that goal, and how you are going to proceed.

Obviously an attendant doesn't have the authority to release your car without you paying. The only person who could do that would be the owner of the company or a senior manager.

And the only way one of those two people would authorize such a release would be if a mid to upper level local police officer called them and asked for a favor. Towing companies depend on good relations and sometimes kickbacks to local police to function.

That is how my uncle (an influential/powerful man who is all about subtlety) would look at things. When I think about him, I think about Michael Corleone logic. Of course, he would consider all of the above in about 1 second, and conclude that it was better to pay a few hundred dollars than for him to ask a contact a favor, and have that contact in turn call a police officer, who would in turn lean on the towing company owner.

Did the restaurant call for a tow? Apparently she ate dinner there and then it sounds like she went to some other place nearby. Does the restaurant have anyone's car towed if it is still there when they close? If so, they are assholes- what about people who have too much to drink at the restaurant and need to take a cab home? Places that serve alcohol typically don't make an issue of this unless the car is there well into the next day.

Or did they just have a contract with the towing company and told them to tow any car there when they are closed? Again, assholes for the same reason.

The ESPN girl should just come out and say that this was all a ploy to "raise awareness" about the predatory practices of towing companies and how they "harass" and "intimidate" people with these practices and target the "underprivileged", especially women and " people of color".

She should then say that the bullying of low level female employees is a huge problem and has no repercussions for the person doing it, which is why she made sure her fake tirade was caught on video so people could witness what it looks like and be aware in the future to intervene when a customer is harassing a female employee.

Then she should go into how the vast majority of women who work for towing companies are low wage front desk people and receptionists and that women are rarely given the opportunity to be tow truck drivers, where the real money is in those companies, since the vast majority of drivers are men.

It looks like she may have parked and eaten at the restaurant and then gone to a nearby bar afterwards, or she may have simply parked at the restaurant and gone to the bar without patronizing the restaurant. Apparently, the restaurant has a contract with that towing company to tow cars from their lot that are parked there after business hours. If so, likely no one from the restaurant actually called for the tow. The tow company cruised by to check the lot, saw the car, and ganked it.

This kind of happened to me once. My apartment complex had visitor parking spots but they had signs that said that visitor parking closes at 11 pm. After that time, a towing company with which the apartment has a contract cruises by and checks to see if any cars are still in the visitor parking spots and then quickly tows them away. So, my friend had his car towed. I paid the charge since I had told him it was ok to park there because I didn't think the complex would be that strict about it.

I'm on board with this. I was all set to hate this chick but if you watch the video what she does isn't that bad. In the first place, everything the fat chick says is edited out. Why?
