Is DC the Fake Phone Number Capital of The World?
Here is a question for the DC players:

I have noticed that DC is really the only place where I sometimes get fake phone numbers from girls.

I can go 100 straight legit phone numbers in LA or Miami from super fly girls, but in DC I get fakes. Even from girls that wouldn't cross the velvet rope in the dopest spots in Miami.

And it is not on "quick hit" phone numbers either.

Sometimes I have talked with a girl for 45 minutes in a bar, had a great conversation, connected really well, even kissed her and call a few days later and...fake number!

Unreal.

Even girls that approached me, gave every buying signal in the world and then...fake number!

I would even say the fake number percentage is way higher than even you see in Gentleman's Clubs.

Anyone else experience this?

What is the reasoning?

I sometimes wonder if it is because I look so much different than a typical DC guy and girls are just curious/fulfilling some kind of fantasy by talking with me, but are to lame/conformist to go all the way.

Thoughts?

Shiiiiiiiii....

Since cell phones been around I will openly do a "phone credit check" and don't care if it is in front of the chick. Sometimes I would throw in some corny joke/line to get the "phone check" across, but I do it.

Now before cell phones, DC was known for chicks giving out "blanks". (blanks = wrong number)

RE: Is DC the Fake Phone Number Capital of The World?
I'm glad you've noticed this. In fact I would have never found this forum or Rooshs blog if it wasn't for the amount of flakes I was getting last summer.

I was making out with a solid 8(tall blonde) at madhatters one night last october. Her friends tried to cockblock me and she pushed them away and took me upstairs. She was all over me but she whispered to me "You're gonna get me in trouble". I don't remember my reply but later after we stopped making out I was gonna tell I was student but she cut me off and said.."I don't care what you do..you're hottt!!". I laughed, got her number and later her friends dragged her way and she left. I thought to myself "damn...this is gonna be cake when i call". I call 2 days later and hear her voice mail(she gave me the real number) and i left a message. I later sent a text. No reply..no text back.

Granted we were drunk and more than likely she had a boyfriend but still I could tell u dozens of stories just like this one. Thats why I always go for the SNL now. Numbers mean nothing in this city.

Here is roosh's take..Flaking on the Rise theory
"Some guy emailed me with his theory: there is such an increase in fatties that the cute girls have way more options than in the past. Hence flaking is increasing. Sounds like it could be a factor. I do notice that there are even fewer cuter girls in D.C. than a couple years ago."

VK also talks about this in his blog. http://vksempireofdirt.com/?p=1274

"The reality is that for a guy to increase his chance of getting one date in this city he has to pull three to five numbers in a weekend. If you pull five, two will not pick up, call back or text back. One will be flaky and play text games, one will maybe meet you out here and there and finally the last will actually show up to the date."

I knew I couldn't have been the only one.

The crazy part is how it is so isolated to DC.

I have literally never had an issue with fake numbers anywhere else. In the world.

Only DC.

Any reasoning?

Do you get numbers before kiss/sex? Getting a fake after those things is pretty rare in DC.

Ha.

After sex, there really wouldn't be too much a need for a number. Hell, at that point, I would probably be giving fakes.

Like I said above, I have gotten fakes after kissing girls in DC and connecting with them for a significant amount of time.

I (almost) never get fakes even after a two minute "in transition" conversation in other places.

It is completely isolated to DC.

It's really strange.

I've never really had an issue w/fakes but it seems people here are more guarded w/their numbers then in other places. I roll to different cities and people are giving out their cell numbers just to link up later or see whats going on, in DC its like you need to send an email a week in advance and send a Microsoft Outlook calendar request because everyone is so important.

True story - the last time i remember getting a fake number was in Miami w/a fly Brazilian I swooped (or thought I swooped) while we were headed the same direction on Collins. When I called the number and it was disconnected I was absolutely positive i took i entered it in wrong since we had a good vibe and tried a couple of other numbers that were one off. Well sure enough I got ahold of her, and she later admitted she gave me the wrong number on purpose and was shocked that I actually got ahold of her, but we went out later and ended up dating for awhile. Goes to show you girls dont really know what they want.

Yeah, people seem super guarded.

Especially compared to somewhere like Las Vegas where it is common to meet someone at 12 am and call them back the same night at 5 am to meet up.

Which is even more bizarre since the people you meet there are from all over. It is like something about that city changes people.

Either that or every super guarded/paranoid/weirdo person moves there.

Probably a combo of the two.

RE: Is DC the Fake Phone Number Capital of The World?
ROFL on this thread, G!

I haven't spent enough time in DC to observe this problem there, but I can safely say that I've only received fake numbers one or two times my entire adult life. I still remember the last time: It was an ugly Indian girl that I shouldn't have hit up anyway. She knew my heart wasn't in it and probably spared me the embarrassment of going through the motions. Still, like the trooper that I was back then, I called her. I was shocked and appalled when a doctor's office picked up! In fact, I was so outraged and in disbelief, that I called a second time. I wish someone had taken a picture of my face at that moment. Hilarious.

Looking back, there's remote possibility she could have been from the greater DC area. I remember her area code being weird (not 202, but something odd for me) and she had "just moved" to my city from the East Coast somewhere.

Wouldn't that be something?

LOL on a girl giving you a fake number after sex. That, sir, would be hilarious. But if it's going to happen, it's going to happen in DC.

I don't know if I've ever gotten a fake number in DC yet. I've had a few girls not respond before, but that doesn't necessarily make it a fake.

Yea..most of the time they will give you their real number and won't pick up or text back. I have a friend that will send girls dirty text messages and pornagraphic pictures if they don't respond. LOL!

G Manifesto, next time you're in DC go custom suited to Degrees Lounge at the Ritz in Georgetown. I doubt you're gonna get any fake #s there!

Tuthmosis -

"I can safely say that I've only received fake numbers one or two times my entire adult life."

Ha. I can safely say I have gotten two fake numbers in DC on the same night! Probably within 2 hours!

Then 5 years will go by in LA with zero fake numbers.

I just remembered that these fake numbers all happened 5 + years ago, really before the cellphone, text bonkers era.

So maybe that is why others are just getting "no responses" VS fakes numbers of old.

The problem most likely metamorphosized itself.

It always seemed strange that DC guys on here always said things like "Flaking is on the rise!", and I always thought, "no it isn't".

But I think its just the fake number problem of old, updated with new technology in DC.

Good luck guys!

I know this is supposed to be a DC thread but I don't think DC is alone on flakiness.
In Toronto, women will often give you her real number and NEVER pick up. I swooped one lizard in a club (Brant House) and collected her number.
Called her that night just to make sure the number was valid and she picked up the call so that was good.
Next time, I called her, all I heard was a high pitched scream on the phone (it was like a feral bobcat). I tried three times and heard the same scream each time.
Of course, I junked those digits.

De-railing a bit I know...

I'll be in Vegas soon with VK and Rookie. I haven't been there since I spent a whole summer in the city 2 years ago. Any idea what some of the top spots are in 2011?

I've been to Jet, Tabu, The Bank, Tao, Pure, Studio 54, Mix, Tryst, and a few others.

We'll have VIP access to almost all of the MGM-branded hotels thanks to one of my hook ups.

Gmac -

Fisto recently wrote up a strong Data Sheet on Las Vegas with all recent spots. I would check that out.

You should do a DC VS Las Vegas Data Sheet upon your return.

You know, for humors sake.

Moved recently to DC from the West Coast. Even though I miss the easy trips to Vegas, I have no lost love for San Diego or LA, bitch shields are through the roof there and the need to drive everywhere makes logistics crap. Too many bimbos in SoCal, girls actually know where I work in DC instead of asking some ignorant question which shows they don't pay attention to what's going on in the world.

Just my take...
