On another note, everyone says Colombia is slightly harder than the Philippines, but when you factor in that Philippines is mostly about quantity of 5's, 6's, and 7's, Colombia may actually be easier, considering that average girl here is hotter than the average filipina and not too hard to pull. That has been my experience so far, as well as my RVF roommate, and we are staying in the southern part of Chapinero, pretty far away from the upper class zona rosa/zona t action.

Yeah, there are a few caveats, speaking spanish would be one of them, unless you have Linux abilities.

I also can't comment on the young girls yet, since I've only dealt with late 20's-31 so far, but judging from my roommate's success with them and another guy who was down here I'd say if you put in any decent effort and have your shit together you will be fine with the younger crowd.

Me- 5'9 on a good day, 30, 175 pounds, pretty muscular, dark brown hair, white, decent looking. My standard nighttime outfit is a leather jacket, jeans, a nice pair of Aldo's, and a button up or form fitting shirt underneath.

Lots of people underestimate how fast things can get crazy in these parts of the world. I was at an after hours bar in a small city in Cuba when all of a sudden a guy got pulled from a moving truck, massive knifes were gripped no more than 10 feet from me. I saw guys all of a sudden run away with huge knifes in their hands. Next day I found out a guy was murdered. It happened probably 20 feet from me though I didn't notice at the time as there was such a commotion.

Stuff can get real quick and I can imagine in a place with guns like Colombia / Brazil it can get very real very quick putting not just those involved in danger but bystanders.

I wore flip flops all around Medellin. I really wonder if that gave me an advantage in staying off the radar for robbery.

You gotta figure if they're going through the trouble to pick targets who might be hiding money, they also want some decent shoes out of the deal.
I used to think dressing somewhat trashy would help you avoid being a target, but considering they rob other poor Colombians maybe that doesn't make any difference.

Not sure about Colombia, but flip flops are usually worn by tourists in the Caribbean. So they might make you a target, but ultimately these are poor countries and things can pop off anytime.

The number one thing every Colombian I talked to told me was to use the taxi apps. It is very cheap to get a local sim for 3g and taking a taxi off the street, especially in Bogota, especially at night can be very dangerous.

Number two was to always watch your alcohol.

I followed both of those and probably paid a little more in cabs and threw away or turned down a few drinks that I wasn't sure about but these are very minor things.

Life is too cheap in Colombia.

I've been traveling/living in Latin America for almost 20 years, and aside from getting mugged a few times at gunpoint in Mexico City, and Lima, I've never had any major problems. If you take the necessary precautions getting murdered is very unlikely in those countries. I agree with Blunt. I have 3 rules that I always follow: never get fucked up drunk, always take a secured taxi either call in or from an app, and always have "rob me" money in your pocket. I leave all my atm cards in the apartment hidden.

Stories like this are like adding fuel to the fire inside me, my desire for going to these places and see how it is with my own eyes is just growing stronger and stronger.

Mindfulness in all honor, but if you are afraid of getting robbed or killed around the first corner as soon as you hit the streets, maybe you shouldn't sail away from the safe harbour called as home.

I don't know about you guys, but if I have to choose from being safe and jerking off in pure boredom at home, or traveling to exotic countries and having a good time it's a no brainer.
Even if it involves the risk of getting robbed,killed or gangbanged in the ass of a gang of thugs with STD's.

The thing about Colombia is that it can seem utterly normal and safe, which in fact it is for the most part when compared to Mexico, Brazil, Venezuela etc, but that doesn't mean that the ghosts of the recent past aren't still lurking around. If you go there looking like the average gringo and then walk around buzzed alone thinking everything is easy and great..you might have a rough time. You might not... But that doesn't mean shit isn't there waiting for you to slip up one too many times.

I lived on the edge of the (redacted) neighborhood, in the last of the decent places spilling over from a much nicer adjacent neighborhood, before you actually go down into the much less desirable (redacted). This is where I lived, pretty decent:






But this was a 5 minute walk away, where I would go eat, a different situation...






Some easy to follow/general advice? Stay near the mountains. Stay North (East? Still get confused about that) of the Transmilenio line. Is everywhere outside of that terrible and dangerous? No not at all, but if you don't know your shit you won't know if it is or isn't, so its just an easy rule of thumb. There isn't much worth seeing in the rest of Bogota anyway. Well, except for pussy of course.

Guys, as long as we're talking about things to watch out for in Colombia:

Were this a normal* person, and I heard this story, I would guess that there would be about a 20% chance of it being true. The most likely scenario is that it would lead to a few further tales of woe and that very quickly down the line, this girl would began asking for money.

I've heard of this, or variations of it happening, and I've known people personally who got played in milder ways by girls down there. The success people have had with tinder game makes me think it's largely replaced sites like Colombian Cupid, meaning for every quality girl you're going to have a few hustlers.

*Note I say normal person because I think when you're as good a player as Linux is you probably have a pretty good sense for when you're being lied to. He also may have proof and not want to link any news articles.

The most marriage-able girls I've known in my life were Colombian, but so were the biggest lying, gold digging hoes.
