If I'm still single by the time I hit 45 I think I may just say fuck it and do porn assuming I'm still decent looking at that age, the idea of banging hot 18-22 year olds doesn't sound that bad to me. The vibe on set was super relaxed and fun. It helped that it had female producers (who talked as if they used to do porn themselves). The camera men and set guys were OGs, so they were super direct but never creepy, it was clear they'd seen a million bangs before and werent about to get horny off this one.

Drug use on set from everyone I talked to was sparse. They all basically refrained from doing anything but viagra to avoid psyching themselves out from losing their boner. There was light drinking after the set. Some of the camera men talked about guys wolfing sugar down in the old days to give them quick energy. A lot of drugs really fuck up your performance so it seems like that's not something people can do a lot of. Girls on the other hand can, but I think girls are so afraid of being blacklisted no one wants to come across as a user

There's a porn producer over on the Something Awful forums who semi-regularly does AMA style threads, his views seem to echo yours. Basically that being the male 'talent' is a stressful, thankless job that is actually pretty horrible - despite what naive teenage boys may think. It seems if you can get into the industry behind the camera instead you get all of the access to the girls (if you want it), along with a steadier, less stressful salary.

He also mentions that party drugs are pretty rare on set given how they'd destroy your performance as a male, and how its quite easy to get blacklisted as a female these days if you're unreliable - showing up to scenes late, looking like a mess etc.

Out of curiosity, how much did being an extra for the day pay? It seems like it'd be a fun way to spend a day or two, for the novelty factor alone.

I agreed to get paid 50 for 3 hours, shoot lasted way longer so I got paid more. The experience is definitely worth it, and it's money for something I'd do for free. I'm almost surprised they don't sell the extra spots to fans for big $

What that video was is a essentially 'porn for women'. Look at how it is shot, the nature cuts, the shot of him in the shower, eating food, and the attention and focus on his relationships. Versus simply just detailing the job that he does, his days, and the life that he lives. You can say the video accomplished that, but not from a angle of a strait man as a core viewer of that video. That was clearly shot by a female or a homo.
