The truth is, a good facebook profile is still something you want to have. Meaning, pictures in different places, some have to be cool (Vegas, London, Tokyo...etc), attractive women consistently "liking" your pics or status updates. The fine line comes regarding how much time you invest in it. Too much, you're trying too hard, too little..you're hiding something or trying to be private for whatever reason if you're a single guy past 25.

Most guys, even those with a baseline high SMV simply cannot achieve this. They get likes from the same group of people, usually extended family and some friends from back in the day. Attractive women get likes from basically everyone who is male on their list, especially in sexually unbalanced societies like the USA, where you have about fifteen available PP's to every pussy.

Nothing you can really do about it unfortunately. It's here to stay and it's only going to get worse. The only thing you can do is adapt.

Truthfully, I think I've been neglecting this shit to my own detriment. Like most here, I can't stand social media. But as Matt Forney mentioned in his latest post at ROK and we know all too clearly, there's a culture of hysteria and fear going on right now. Anglo culture was always sort of fucked up socially but the rise of these technologies is even further eroding people's social skills.

A good Facebook profile can display value and build comfort at the same time, a comfort that is needed so girls don't think you're somehow out to get them.

You got it backwards... talk about yourself as little as possible. Make sure she has good feels while avoiding talking about yourself if possible. The less she knows about you the less chances there are for her to reject you or ruin your social life.

The shit that I hate is how it has transferred to smart phones and is now part of constant selfie checking. I don't care if people want to communicate articles or share pics on their laptop, but its the use of the phone that bothers me personally.

It drives me nuts how I see people in exciting real life situations, pull out their phones to record it -- as the first instinct, in nearly all cases.

Its the desire to "show you did something cool" rather than "experience something"

I don't think the answer is to just turn it off and avoid it. There is a lot of opportunity for good with social media.

I think the answer is to recognise it and harness it through discipline. Change the way you think about it and act accordingly.
