Can you elaborate a little further?
I just didn't get it. With Get Out, I could follow and understand the underlying messages/themes/imagery.
I just bought a Spike Lee Box set.
Do the right thing is a damn good movie. Jungle Fever is good also. Mo better blues? I didn't like too much.
Still have Malcolm X, He got Game, Crooklyn and Clockers to watch.
Such a shame. That whole African American early 90's/ late 80's music and movie scene was golden.
Even as a 27 year black brit, I miss those days.
TDK
Dont miss 25th Hour. Personally I think its Spike Lee's best all round piece of work even though people often forget he directed it (I did!), I did a full review in the old RVF Movie club thread here
Bonus: The late great Patrice Oneal has a cameo in it. (Goddam I still miss that bad ass motherfucker)

I was downstairs waiting for my friend and was just trying to get into a social mood. I just threw out a yo to see if the girls might be interested in being opened. You guys know girls will run if they dont like what they see. The girls stopped, game on.
The reason I acted the way I did is because the dude responded with hostility and disrespect. I wasnt trying to have some deep conversation or get into their uber, I literally said, "what's up where y'all going." Im not saying white people would have invited me, i wasnt expecting that at all, i meant that i feel like dude wouldnt have responded like that if i was white. Honestly I wish he had just ignored me instead of disrespecting me. I went from open to being opened by 8 of the girls (the other two were the guys girlfriends it seemed like) to being considered scary. Clearly this guy was the ringleader because the girls went from oh he's cute to oh na we don't fuck with you because our boy don't fuck with you. The dude coulda basically said anything else in any other tone and i woulda just moved my attention back to the girls... My goal in the first place. I'm pretty sure like you said rudebwoy he was cockblocking.
I hate dudes who act weird over some hoes, that's a pet peeve of mine.
Also I know it's not all black people of course, I was exaggerating. This is not the first time this week some stupid shit like this has happened.
@Nondrifter
You right man I mean I'm not even mad it's just sad and frustrating seeing all this instant hostility as soon as I open my mouth to say anything. I'm not hostile person anymore. I'm not used to it. Definitely need to recalibrate haha.
@Iso & Beirut
I dont think i explained opening the girls clearly. The girls stopped when i yelled yo from the other side of the lobby. They waited for me to come talk to them. I'm sure some of yall have said hey to a girl and they just kept on walking, Na they waited for me to come open them. I walked right past just to dap up the dude first. In my head I was already in with the girls. I didn't need dudes approval to talk to his girls, I already had the girls stopped. I was literally trying to be nice and converse, i saw a brother and i wanted to say hi.
I appreciate the advice and will try those openers in the future. Like I said above I just need to recalibrate. It was a misunderstanding. I'm sure I used to act like he acted I'm just not used to that anymore. I should've just charged it to the game and sat back down, I just don't fuck w being disrespected.
Thank y'all for dissecting this interaction.
@MaceTyrell
She's probably crazy.
I'm complaining about black dudes acting like assholes but I really can't see a black lesbian being friendly enough to give you her IG. Those girls are more on edge than anyone.
How old was he? In my experiences, age makes a huge difference. Younger guys will mouth off in that scenario, while an older brother will be much likelier to help you out.
In my experiences
Under 25:
Black men seem hesitant and closed off to meeting outsiders. It's difficult to penetrate their protective shield. Often times I will chat a younger guy up and he will give me a dismissive response. Happens so much that I think its a trend.
Over 30:
I had my friendliest experiences with Black Men over 30. By far the coolest and most chill dudes. Never met one who was rude to me. Always willing to help out other brothers.

Long story short, did not happen. The college aged black dudes aren't all soyboys like people want you to believe. The vast majority had muscular frames, tattoos, were well-dressed, and had fresh haircuts. If I had a wingman, I would've come up on something. It's tough keeping 3 and 4 women all interested at once.
I never heard that black guys were soyboys in general. The black community is much less forgiving on 'dorkism' than the white community (in my observation). I hang out with some younger black guys here and guys are still going for lizards and getting them. The only difference is, many of these guys act intuitively and can't explain what they do and why. The comparison is like: being fluent in a language vs being a grammar wizard that's fluent in the language. The former will achieve the same results as the latter but the latter will be able to explain every step to someone who doesn't have a clue.
Many black guys are forced to get game. They come from environments where sexing lizards are a priority and you run the risk of being called gay (which is a blight in the black community) by both parties (ridiculed by men and shamed by lizards who are offended you don't dig out her guts). Due to this, the impetus is to fix up quickly. In comparison, in my observations, this pressure isn't there in the white community. The gay smear or the need to prove oneself by banging out lots of lizards isn't to that degree in the white community.
I remember going out with one of my mates in the UK (white bredda) and we met some white lizards outside of a club. They decided they wanted to get in without paying and stuck themselves onto my friend. He paid for them to get in, snogged (kissed) one of them later on the night and then casually drove them back to his (he had a room in halls -university) for a threesome. He bought them breakfast in the morning and was gone. The white lizards were up for a mini gangbang if I so chose to come along but I bottled it (chickened out) as I've not mentally resolved myself to banging out lizards with friends around. I recall trying to poke a friend's sister during the Christmas season in Croydon and her other sister and my friend from primary school were watching me like it was a live show (we were all in the same bedroom) and it made me uncomfortable.
My point being made is that the threesome that my friend had was the most casual threesome I've ever witnessed forming in my life. It was as routine as buying coffee from Starbucks. In comparison, a black threesome is more sensitive like trying to thread a needle. Black threesomes happen of course, but you say the wrong thing and you drop the ball and end up holding your blue balls. In comparison, the white threesome setup gives more room for error. They are probably accustomed to dealing with non glib statements and grooming phrases.
I recall inserting myself into a blonde in Ottawa with my friend in the same room, dealing with her brunette friend. Afterwards, the two lizards converged in the hallway and I was told she wasn't really expecting sex but just went along with the ride just like deciding to chug a shot. I was amazed. However, perhaps it's a cross-cultural thing. Maybe black lizards are as easy with white guys as white lizards are with black guys, who knows.
Congrats without hate! I can only have one dick in the room at a time-my own!?

RE: Moma and RudeBwoy RoundTable Discussion on Black Man Game Options
***SPOILERS ABOUT JORDAN PEELE’S “US”***
With respect to the weak black man trope — it’s definitely in the movie, but it’s not the focus. It’s more of a plot device to explain why Lupita is the protagonist.
I’m referring to the fathers. Protagonist’s father was a drunk, inattentive, mother blames him for letting Lupita out of sight.
Similarly, Lupita’s husband is unable to protect the family from the shadow intruders. Puts on tough guy act, makes his voice deeper, but then gets bitch slapped and overpowered by his gorilla-esque shadow. Lupita bosses up and effectively becomes protector of the family.
“Us”, I agree that Peele had a lil too much creative freedom, and it got weird. It’s the type of movie that you watch multiple times because there’s layers to it.
I would see it again, but I would not PAY to see it again in theaters. I like horror cinema, art, and literature, especially psychological horror, more than your typical person though.
If you are a casual horror fan, I think you’ll be disappointed. The surface level plot simply does not have oomph to it as someone here said earlier. Get Out will appeal more to the casual horror fan.
I am curious about the significance of the hand-holding shadows because they were shown at both the beginning of the movie and at the end. But that may be a convo best saved for PMs.
Also, shoutout to the brotha that mentioned Tales from the Hood! Classic, race-conscious horror cinema, it’s not talked about enough.

Interesting take on Lupita's husband. I don't see him written as a weak character at all, yes he was overpowered by his shadow but he ultimately murdered his doppleganger on his own. Also his boat is what allowed the family to escape the situation at the moment, even if only momentarily. I believe he killed another one of the shadows later at his friend's house too.
I think he was made into an everyman character, if he had been written as some super duper alpha from the gate there would have been no tension whatsoever.

This reminds me of a talk E Michael Jones did on the escalation of horror. He said horror is the result of people personifying their guilt and facing it. It was very effective against your standard Catholic family during its rising popularity. It was a guilt that was restricted from their houses, but eventually, when the church was no longer the influence on society, horror was an allegory for sin being allowed to run rampant.
When you said that above about there would be no tension in a horror film if it had a competent protagonist, it showed that weak individuals, those absent of morality or having weak character, are drawn the most to horror films. They feed off that desire of fear, cause they already face it in real life. It explains why women are mostly attracted to horror films, though this goes arm and arm with affinity for bad boys, crime flicks, and murder films. A competent person, a real man, would not let those horrors succumb him. Just something interesting.

RE: Moma and RudeBwoy RoundTable Discussion on Black Man Game Options
Man, I really would love to hear some more talk about texting game. I’ve tried going the whole nine yards via Tinder, and it has only netted me one bang on Tinder out of over a hundred matches. And she wasn’t even good looking!
I don’t even bother texting girls for anything outside of logistics. my current model is to send a gif or a pic of food to spike her emotions. wait for her response, then ask when she is free.
i personally feel that i have lost more girls from over-texting than under texting. YaReally’s Archive is undoubtedly a gold mine, but perhaps on this particular facet of game, I find myself stumped. I’ve tried writing emotionally picturesque texts, it only seems to work on girls post-bang for me, not pre-bang.
@TDK, as long as you aren’t dressed weirdly or have some facial deformity, the stares are probably IOIs. Chat some of these ladies up, they may be open to an instadate. If the guys staring at you seem cool, perhaps say what’s up and make some new friends. You might get invited to a cool party at a new spot, you never know.
As Distant Light once said, cold approach is simply a tool...
