My take has always been that English speakers aren't always familiar with English/American/Canadian nuances. Hell it seems that UK to US gets a bit lost in translation sometimes.

Only dealt with 2 German chicks at this point, and it was a lot more Direct/Man to Woman "essential" communication.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned leather jackets.

When I first moved to western Canada, I was wearing blazers, dress shirts, and dress boots as standard attire. I realized I was way over-dressed for the city. My town is an industrial one, where blue collar dominates.

I switched into more casual dressy type 'hoodies', leather jackets, jeans, and for boots I changed up to the more utility oriented Doc Martens.

At certain times dressing down (while still dressing smart) can work wonders.

Dressing this way is cheap, easy, and stylish. Now I save my blazers for more special type occasions.

This isn't going to work for every city of course, to put into perspective; the last three jobs I worked here, (skilled technical trade) I've been hired on the spot while wearing a hoodie and blue jeans with running shoes.

I believe we discussed that in one podcast but I'm not sure if we fleshed out to the level that you liked. Masculinity only really needs to be exaggerated in the West. In other countries, being a gym freak isn't really required and holding frame isn't needed since one is taught that from birth. Again, I always observe how guys born in patriarchal countries behave when lizards step out of line. This means that global game by and large might just be a case of being present. Those more seasoned travellers can happily chime in on this. My frame of reference is based on observations from main anglo countries such as Britain, Canada, US and then contrasting this with places like Naija and West Indies. Surrounding references would be observation of guys from other countries such as EE (limited) and latin countries (one of my supervisors was from Colombia, I think).

I heard a friend of a friend mention to a table of mixed company that a man should spend no less than $150 on her at dinner on a first date, because she’s worth it. The problem I run into is having to dumb down my game and deal with mundane conversations. More Love and Hip Hop than Dostoevsky is needed. 22-26 seems to be the sweet spot since they're old enough to have lived a little and therefore more receptive to a more gentlemanly rap -- generally speaking. How do you overcome being a "Nerdy" black guy. Not a nerd in the true sense of the word but a guy who is interested in issues other than music , sports and pussy. A modern black Renaissance man in a way.

I've noticed a huge percentage of us black guys on this forum fit into that category. Girls can sense that and we all know girls tend to pigeonhole you into a certain "type" upon meeting you. Except there is no "type" for an intellectual black man which confuses them.

You just come off as in-congruent with what they think black men should be. How do we fit into a certain type while still maintaining our true selves & personality?

This is an issue in short term nightclub-esque game where a girl's attraction to you is based on how well you fit into a certain image she has. Not an issue for longer term relationships. It also tends to be a North American issue. European girls tend to treat you more as an individual.

Black nerd right here. I work as a doc and I actually play up the nerdy vibe. I got my eyes tested and wear professional looking rimless glasses to help up my nerdy factor. I do agree that black men have a hard time being painted as brainy. It's quite sad. People find it so easy to congratulate or compliment our physicality but rarely our minds.

People always call me unqiue, hard to read and hard to get. That's fine.I accept my outlier status. At work and in your career, I think looking like a nerd is a neccessity for black men.
