Yea I personally don't smoke the regular Classics, but from my friends whom switched over from Marlbro Reds prefer them. They're too dry and kind of stale for me

I smoke the Black and Golds, Classic Menthols, or Dunhill Fine Cuts(my personal favorite and highly recommended regular cigarette) mainly.

I prefer cigars over anything personally, but I'm not one of the few guys who can smoke a cigar everywhere and look cool or constantly carry cigars on my person.

You pinned the nail on the head with the use 'irrational'! I have seen stuff with my Naija boys and had debates that had me shaking my head in wonder (sometimes the man dem are very very hard headed). That's the pros and cons of it. It might come from that Nigerian mentality to always strive for big things. Everyone talks about big things and they really make light or ignore 'I can't do it' speech. If you hear that growing up, it instills a level of confidence that is unshakeable by the time you reach adulthood. The men look towards business and making money. I mentioned before to Excelsior that if they were focused on sports, I am certain there is a village boy that would bring thunder to Usain Bolt but the Bolts there are bolting towards starting their own business (priorities).

From the lizard standpoint, they look towards securing a man doing well for himself. "He is a fine boy" is really invalid phrase yet that seems to be the guiding phrase for many lizards in the West and indeed other cultures. Naija is a place that I found all sorts of seemingly mismatched couples. I find Naijas to be very pragmatic. Will his looks put food on the table and keep the electricity on is not an uncommon phrase to be heard amongst lizards. Because of that, it is not unusual to find a Naija lizard with a short husband. Height seems pretty irrelevant to the discussion.

Example of how height hardly matters there: There are two Naija actors in the Nollywood films who are probably under four feet tall and nearing middle age. in 2012 in the papers there, I noticed that one of them (Chinedu Ikedieze) had married a fine lizard (Nneoma Nwaijah) who was around 5'10 inches tall (much taller than him).

Back to your question: Where does that irrational confidence spawn from? I don't know. I find that Africans are confident as a whole but I definitely can feel that Nigerians can seem over the top to others. Maybe this sense of self derives from having the largest population of blacks in the world and it isn't even a poor country, it's just very badly managed. Maybe the confidence derives from the knowledge that all of that is there and it's just a matter of application. I ask that question often amongst Nigerians but I can never get a proper answer, not much introspective to be gotten from my experiences. I would say that confidence is similar to the confidence that Americans have.

Maybe it's because they feel they have oil? My Trini friend, you couldn't tell him shyt, he was always bragging about the oil and soca in TnT. Even other Africans can find Nigerians too much at times but Naijas seem to not give a fcuk about what they think (going back to that irrational thought process again).

Now that you mentioned it, the paramount difference between Nigerian guys Vs Caribbean/AA guys is ambition.

The later have more of a laid back, take it as it comes attitude while Nigerians have a very go-for-it mentality.

I knew this short ugly Naija dude who had trouble paying for his tuition and was about to get deported. He was banging one of the hottest girls on campus (cheerleader) and made her pay for his tuition for like 3 semesters while he was banging other top-shelf punani. It was amazing (and painful) to watch. This was freshman year while i was on a dry-spell driving my M3, rocking designer clothing and living in a cool apartment.

Dude is just 27 now and owns 2 gas stations, is in a PhD program for Finance and dating some rich Japanese chick who flies him to Australia and Thailand on her daddy's dime. Self-made fucker. Not a guy you'd want to be friends with but impressive nonetheless.

I've since seen dozens of instances of Naija dudes pulling similar shit.

Part of the reason I've got into game and rejected all notions of face, height and money on the ability to pull.
