Digital cameras, selfies and selfie sticks are the main causes of rampant narcissism we see now.

I remember a time when we had to use film in our cameras which needed to be developed. Since there were only a limited number of shots on each roll of film, and developing them was expensive, we were very selective about the photos we took. We certainly didn't take 20 selfies in a row to get the perfect shot. Going on trip or an outing was about enjoying the moment, either by ourselves or with friends/family, and less about taking photos. And the photos we did take were for our own collections, or to perhaps share with others when they made a social visit to our house since there was no Facebook or Instagram.

The purpose of any activity these days seems to be manufacturing moments to take the perfect selfie with your besties to upload onto social media accounts. Watch any group of people in their early twenties at a restaurant, take note of the quantity of selfies taken during the meal, and ask yourself if those photos are truly representative of the enjoyment they were having while sharing a meal with their friends. Or visit a famous tourist spot and try to look for the people who are there primarily to experience the spot - it's very difficult among the hordes of people who are there solely for the purpose taking shitty selfies to instantly upload to social media, which in itself is solely for the purpose of gaining attention online.

Funny thing I have also opened girls this way in bars/clubs when they are trying to take selfies and almost all of them always accept my offer. There's actually more cultural collapse here than is being reported.

The kid's last name is Liu. That means there's no real dad involved -- just a sperm donor. So it's not like she had a kid via surrogate while part of a couple (which is what I assumed).

She basically ordered a kid via a sperm donor and a surrogate, as if she was ordering up a latte at Starbucks. I guess the supposedly smart Liu hasn't read all the articles about how sperm donor kids suffer -- articles that even made it into left wing places like Slate (from 2010: "New study shows sperm-donor kids are not really all right").

The other stories you'll find when researching these kids online is their obsession with seeking out their bio-dads. This throws into question why and woman would go this route if the kids are just going to spend their lives searching for their missing parent.

I know women who have gone the "single mother by choice" route either by sperm donor or otherwise. The one thing I can say is this:

If a woman can't get along with a man long enough to forge a relationship, she won't be able to get along with a kid long enough to forge a bond with the kid either.

I was on a cruise with family last week, and the number of people I saw with selfie sticks was unbelievable. I did a tour by jet ski and motherfuckers were jamming up the line and nearly caused a couple accidents trying to take photos of themselves. And it wasn't just young women.

Even in places where there was no cell service and no way to even get online to attention whore, people were more focused on getting the best picture of themselves to share than actually enjoying the vacation.

My gf and i were struggling not to laugh at their incessant, constant selfie taking...in a fucking terminal to plane walkway! They must have taken over 100 each in the ten minutes, no joke.

I remember going on the Twilight Zone ride at California Adventure and there was a Chinese faggot filming the whole thing on his cell phone. The last time I listened to the Specials' second album -- which has the song "Hey, Little Rich Girl" -- was 15 years ago.

Listening to this song again, it's really obvious how things have changed since then. (Spoiler alert! The ending of the song is described below.)

In "Hey, Little Rich Girl," the Specials describe the life of a decadent young girl who is spoiled with all sorts of things, but blows her inheritance. The "punch line," as it were, is contained in the song's last verse:
