Blizzard's New Game Includes Strong Female Characters - Will Feminists be Satisfied?
Blizzard, the gaming company behind the Diablo, Warcraft and Starcraft franchises recently announced a new property called Overwatch.

You can check out the trailer here:

Watch the gameplay here:

The first thing I noticed about this game was the prominent inclusion of strong female characters and the toning down of typical masculine characters.

Take a careful look at the male characters and you'll note that with the exception of Hanzo they're either non-human or fat (in the case of the gnome).

The girl characters are all skinny and in peak physical shape.

My first thought was, "I guess that will put an end to all of this Sarkeesian women are oppressed in games nonsense." I smiled, welcoming this new age of gaming when we can play our games without pointless commentary about the social justice implications that underly them.

I wanted to make sure I was accurately representing the characters in this post, so I googled "overwatch characters."

This article caught my eye about women characters and overwatch.

This quote in particular:

Quote:However, even in the context of Overwatch, which represents a good number of different races, nationalities, and sexes, Metzen admitted that "there's a lot of room for growth." And to be fair, Overwatch's women are mostly super slim and clad in cat suits, so... yeah. (That's not to say they aren't great characters, nor that a game shouldn't have some sexy characters. I just agree with Metzen: there's room to grow.)

There's actually more strong female characters than traditional masculine figures in the game. And yet there's still room to grow.

Seriously, what more do these people want?

Bingo. These days, you can't even have an underwear ad with girls who are skinny and in peak physical shape.

I used to love the company, excellent craftmanship of art, good stories, and really cool movies. However ever since WOW I could care less about blizzard. I'm still waiting for Warcraft 4, RTS. RTS is real time strategies, which aren't as popular as MMORPG style games now.

The blizzard guy said something about gamergate too which made him anti-harassment but was vague on who was harassing.

"What do they want?"

Complete domination, and the subjugation of all opposing views. They are their own videogame villains, and they don't even realize it.

No they won't be happy. The game is still developed, published, marketed and sold by men. And then it won't be bought by men and be a flop.

Saw the trailer and I thought that something was off in the Game. Now it is clear as they try to appease the SJW's dream come true - intergalactic races and lots of strong empowered women. But still the makers know that young men will be 97% of their market, so they put 2 young boys into the beginning trailer.

I predict that this SJW semi-dream game will fail.

And what the Feminazis want: All strong characters shall be women - fat, old and ugly, because anything less is age-shaming, fat-shaming and ugly-shaming - all women are beautiful. Also all good-looking strong men shall be the Negative characters and all positive men fat, weakly or best non-human - Gorillas are fine. Maybe then they will be satisfied, but probably not.

Blizzard already has characters like Sarah Kerrigan and the various female Diablo classes - not like they are Rockstar Games or anything so I don't see what's the need for them to flagellate themselves in front of the SJW altar.

Guys, the only "Strong" Female character i see on both videos is the power armor chik. The rest are a a tipical "cute pixie" chick, and angel nurse, a femme fatal and a wizard(?). Most of the characters are failry stereotipical to the videogame industry (dwarf builder, strong heavy armor german guy, etc etc).

Of course not

To give you some insight into the Feminine brain, here's the newest young feminist.

http://www.salon.com/2014/11/07/boys_alr..._feminism/

On her e-magazine

"I want it to be a space where girls can fuck up and be inconsistent and they won’t be judged or policed for figuring all of this out."

The problem most manosphere people have is thinking that you can satisfy women.

Is this enough?
What about this?
Okay, is this enough?

That's not how women operate, never have.

The sooner you let that notion go, the better you will be.

Looks like a shittier, modernized version of team fortress 2 with tits.

All the diablo games had plenty of female characters, I haven't played the new one but I'm pretty sure that every playable character can be made female.

Starcraft had Kerrigan, who is arguably the most pivotal character in the entire game, and also the most ridiculous standalone unit.

RE: Blizzard's New Game Includes Strong Female Characters - Will Feminists be Satisfied?
I was at BlizzCon the last two days and I have to get this off my chest because I felt like punching somebody all weekend.

The execs, the devs, and the announcers simply could not go an hour without the word "diversity" (or "diversifying") stumbling out of their mouths. Morhaim flat-out condemned GamerGate in all but name at the opening ceremony. The WoW documentary had Felicia Day in there quipping about how guys couldn't believe girls played WoW. And then Overwatch, the most hyped reveal in years, came out boasting an array of competent and superpowered female characters.

And now the Tumblrinas and the shitheads at Kotaku are complaining that they are all too fit and athletic. Some of the crap I heard not just online, but coming out of people's mouths at the convention:

"I have trouble feeling represented when all the girls have big chests and slim waists."

"Why are they all so fit? Can't we play as a heavier girl?"

"I hate that I can see Tracer's ass. She looks too sexy."

Jesus. You ever hear guys saying Captain America should have a beer belly ("I can't feel represented when he has a lower pant size than I do!"), or that Link's teeth need to be a little more yellow and crooked ("I want a hero who represents my inability to afford dental care!")?

Blizzard should have known better. They have finally chosen to indulge these mewling, caviling imbeciles. They have given ground. What has it gotten them but more demands, more caviling, more criticism - more of this "not bad, but there's room to grow" condescension?

Food for thought: the Anaheim Convention Center repeatedly sees ultra right-wing Christian evangelists with huge yellow signs "ALL HAVE SINNED" and "ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST" parked right in the middle of the main plaza. They stand there all day by the con-goers and the skimpy cosplayers and the food trucks, where they plant their feet and evangelize and are routinely trolled, cussed at, and sometimes even openly debated.

You know it's bad when you walk into one of these guys and realize you respect them more than you ever will the propagators of this contemptible agenda that is being pushed upon a mere hobby with the relentless hunger of...well, of the fatsos clamoring for a BBW superhero.

I've gone to BlizzCon for the past five years and always had a great time. I decided last night that I won't be coming back.

RE: Subject line too long...
I knew it; 'Waah! I'm fat and ugly, so I want my video games to have fat and ugly girls as heroines too!'. Who wants to play a badass action game or tough dungeon crawler with anatomically impossibly proportioned female characters when you can help Fugly Sue rationalize last night's one night stand into rape?

Games are entertainment; they aren't supposed to pander to your every whim and represent you as a person...of course as a man I have the logic and the self esteem to not use media to find touchstones that I can relate to and say 'Wow! he's just like me!', but I guess most Western women lack those traits.

Do you know why there are no fat and ugly heroines in video games? For the same reason that there aren't many fat actresses in Hollywood (the two exceptions I know of being Melissa McCarthy [who I don't enjoy; she's basically a dude] and Kathy Bates [who is a very talented actress]); people don't want to see them because people don't like fat and ugly people - they can push it on us and try to force feed us into liking it, but biology doesn't change.

And Jesus tapdancing Christ, 'There are no strong women in video games! they are always just damsels in distress!'...Play just about any Japanese RPG from 1990 to 2005 and you'll see some great female characters. Squaresoft always made games with strong, compelling female characters that didn't veer into unbelievable 'This 5'5 120 lb. chick drinks, fucks and fights better than any man!' territory.

Thank you for mentioning these, because they're A) the games I grew up liking most and B) exactly the counter-examples I think of when I see this nonsense; Suikoden as well gives its characters many things to do, male and female alike.

I suspect Sarkeesian and her brood don't touch these games because, on top of being far more difficult to find fault with, they couldn't play one for an hour without adult supervision.

RTS are the pinnacle of gaming in my opinion. They are like moving chess. You need strategy, patience, intelligence and planning. They embody every masculine virtue and can provide real time demonstrations of things like the OODA loop and warfare strategies.

That's why they'll never be popular again. People want to point and shoot, and 'critics' want something that is suitable for everyone with a room temperature IQ.

RTS are elitist. That's why they're awesome.

Agree, but I'd slightly amend:

They'll want some super fit men in there. Many fat whales love super fit guys. The fat men will be there for their amusement. The most positive will be thin, weak effeminate men.

Either way, I have a novel concept, why don't all these supposed female developers who are supposedly shut out start their own company and develop female oriented games?
