I loved the original trilogy, despite all it's flaws. Hell, I even played the female protagonist (might not have made that choice these days) because I preferred the voice actress.

I have until the last few weeks been very worried that Mass Effect Andromeda will go full SJW. It still might - haven't seen enough story and conversation footage - but at the very least all the new gameplay videos make me more optimistic that it might turn out to be a good game.
Not sure why they've made the female main character (I'm sure I'll choose the male one this time) look like a cartoon though.

Tomorrow I'll start playing Horizon Zero Dawn - gameplay and game world look awesome, but certainly the (fairly unattractive but at least not fat) female lead, the tribal matriarchies I've been reading about and probably various parts of the story are likely to make the whole experience less than I would have liked.

^ Yeah, not interested in the slightest.

I was just checking out some beta test videos for Ghost Recon Wildlands and apparently you can choose for your top tier elite operator to be a girl.

The upside of this bizarre obsession so many media outlets and game developers seem to have with combat equality is that now I can barely tolerate television or video games which invariably leads me to spend more time lifting and shooting out IRL.

I'll reserve judgment - doesn't really sound like something that wasn't already in eg. Bioware games ten years ago, and while my opinions on a lot of things have changed since then I still think I would enjoy many of those.

I don't really care about the utterly unrealistic super woman trope - that's been par for the course in movies, TV and games for many years, and quite often male leads pull off equally outlandish feats and any kind of battle is usually highly unrealistic (I might prefer Nathan Drake to Lara Croft but he's no less over the top superpowered).
I know a lot of people on this forum stay away from Hollywood productions these days - I still get enjoyment from a lot of blockbusters from Marvel etc.

A reviewer will review through their own reality filter so the typical SJW writer might choose to see a pattern or theme where there may in fact only be a few "inclusive" scenes in the game.

Or it may indeed but horrible and gaming is going to shit faster than I thought. I'll find out with Horizon Zero Dawn very soon.

As if the hundreds of hours planning, designing and coding these characters are left up to random chance and things just magically "turn out" to be feminist gender theory friendly and not problematic! I thought this videogame infestation shit was slowing down.

I never even played the original Tomb Raider mainly because the protagonist was a chick.

So, in keeping with tradition, I avoid all games where you control a female.

I guess that makes me a misogynist.
