In your weekly reminder that the Internet is a great place for doing dumb things you'll regret later, Snoop Dogg, Iggy Azalea and Nick Young were waging a social media war over an Instagram picture.

This weird saga began in earnest Friday when ETOnline posted a picture of Azalea without makeup. Snoop Dogg responded by posting a picture of a person with cornrows to his Instagram account.

The beef is officially squashed.

Snoop Dogg posted an Instagram video Wednesday afternoon saying he spoke with Iggy Azalea's manager, the rapper T.I., and that he apologizes for the "bad talk" toward the Australian recording artist.

Most celeb "feuds" are works of fiction engineered by publicists to get both parties front-and-center in the news. I assume there is something either of them will be promoting soon.

Here's an old story from MSNBC that looks behind the celeb feud concept. It quotes media types like Perez Hilton and Michael Musto who come right out and say it's usually BS: "Welcome to the Thunderdome: Celeb Feuds are Hot."

Nick Young's support was pretty weak. The "midlife crisis insult" is damn near cliche when going after someone older than you.

But overall, good stuff on Snoops end.

Her rap career consists of one Gold album, so she hasn't really made any money yet. That whip is at best a lease, or better yet, someone at the label signed for it and she's just getting to drive it around.

It's not easy making money in the rap game, one Gold album isn't going to get it done.

Most of these people are on what are called "360 Deals". They're slaves; someone else is getting rich off that chick, she gets to walk around just looking like she has something.

If fake ass was getting chicks rich, then urban models would be swimming in money; they're not.

Like I said, one album doesn't get a rapper paid.

I've done some biz in that world, so I know a little bit about it.

Wendy Day broke the rap game down a long time ago, she wrote a piece called something like "Rappers Don't Make Real Loot", you'd be surprised, guys you think are banking because they have a bunch of videos and are always on the radio, don't really have money like that -- remember, they were staging MTV Cribs.

Urban modeling is a euphemism for modeling within the hip-hop/rap niche. There's very little actual money in the industry rather those "models", try to get featured in magazines like King or Straight Stuntin', as a way to publicize themselves and eventually get sponsored by rappers or athletes. When the majority of a bands/singers followers are sheep just following the IN thing you're looking at a bleak spot in the wilderness should you choose to not use any of the mainstream media outlets.

I agree but she's still definitely making money. I had a pretty good marketing professor in the last year of my undergrad and he had worked with some big names in the music industry. He said musicians don't make money from albums because most of them are locked into shit deals with the record companies. Musicians make their money from concerts, worldwide tours, promotions, sponsorships, and merchandise etc. While I agree that the album itself hasn't made her rich but she's definitely raking in some dough from all of the above.

My professor also made the point that artists WANT YOU to download their music for free. They don't make much money from albums sales and singles anyway as you alluded to. They hope that you like their music and go listen to them live in concert. That's where they make their money. This is also the reason that most big name artists end up opening their record labels and production companies. Then they get to sign young up and coming artists and make money from their music. The cycle continues.
