This is Sony's Fantastic 4. Last year Fox dealt with that boondoggle, but I don't think Sony is prepared for this disaster.

There are several similarities to this and last year's Fantastic 4
A) The late release of the trailer
B) The barely visible twitter promotion by the actors
C) Bad production history during the past year
D) The bad fan reaction to the trailer = although this is some next level bashing.

It should be noted that Sony is systematically deleting bad comments on the Youtube trailer --- HOWEVER they are purposely leaving the negative comments that say "it's bad because they're women" to give the illusion that the gender change is what's causing the hate.

This is a disaster on every level.

And I gotta agree with the SJWs insofar that the black she-beast role was cast in a stereotypical stupid way. The old Winston from Ghostbusters was as Thunderfoot put it the only normal man, a calm, reasonable individual who was just looking for a steady paycheck. The other men were an always funny womanizer, a semi-autistic Egon and an infantile Ray. Winston was the only normal character and thus the behavior of the other guys appeared thus more funny as a result. Also he was someone who existed utterly without stereotypical ebonics from the Ghetto being likeable and competent.

And women can indeed be funny, but usually it is more by showing something more realistic as with the British IT Crowd show which also had a semi-autistic, but super-intelligent black guy in it. The woman was funny due to being bat-shit crazy and having been put in charge of the IT department while not having a clue about IT herself - her job interview:

All of this is not overly PC and thus would not be shown today anymore.
Even shows like Little Britain would hardly be produced anymore because they make fun of trannies and gays way too much.

The climate is definitely changing so that many shows and movies are almost unwatchable at least for masculine men. Still - they will continue putting out shit, because Feminist idiotic Star Wars made 2 bio. $, so they will put trannies and pedophiles into it next. The next points on the agenda have to be ticked off - because it's 2022 and inter-generational inter-species sex of feminist ballbusters is in.

Ah - btw - almost all former Ghostbusters stars got cameos - they probably paid them off 1 mio. $ each - they had to put that 175 mio. $ budget in somehow - it certainly wasn't the wages of the new "stars" and special effects:

They actually kill Bill Murray during the movie? That will be highly endearing to the old fans.

Japan likes weird films sometimes and the more surreal or fairytale something is the more they like it. Alice in wonderland did really well in Japan.

Ghostbusters will probably flop there though.

Fat American woman feminist snark does not go over well with asian audiences plus the CGI looks pretty bad so that's strike two.

Thinking about it - Ghostbusters is going to be an even bigger misfire than execs are expecting.

Right now, audiences are becoming more immune to Hollywood "remakes". I don't want to say reboot because that would be giving Ghostbusters way too much credit.

In order for a movie to be remade it needs to be at LEAST 40-50 years old. You cannot under circumstances try to pass off a "remake" as a reboot. The last few years we have had:


The Thing
Red Dawn
Total Recall
Robocop


The big problem with nearly all those movies was that it was a clear cash-in on the name and it had NOTHING new to say and was more or less straight up remaking what came before. Can anyone here say anything remarkable about any of these movies?

There will never be a situation where someone say, "Oh have you seen Robocop?" and someone replies, "Which one?"

Some execs ARE smart though - as seen with the Reboots/Remakes of Star Trek and Jurassic World. While both are "sequels" they set themselves up as creating a new franchise.

Here with "Ghostbusters"... it just seems like the same kind of movie when it easily could have been a "passing of the torch" to a new generation kind of thing.

By not recognizing the original it's desecrating it. If it had come 10 years earlier, maybe it wouldn't be so fresh in this generation's minds.

Later this year we are getting a remake of Ben-Hur... and I don't really have a problem with that. Enough time has passed, and remake now is "fair game".

The trailer looks "not bad" although every line seems taken from Gladiator





Point is this... if Ghostbusters had been a reboot/sequel - none of this backlash would be here.
