The chances of Netflix producing something that comes close to GOT is practically zero. Presume it will be woeful and it will be a nice surprise if it doesn't suck.

It's terrible knowing that the incredible potential of the source material will likely be blown on a low grade production.

RE: Video games
Actually I am willing to give them benefit of the doubt. With good CGI, actors choice and interpretation of books, this could be good tv series.
Of course, there must be nudity and probably something to please the SJWs, same thing like in GoT.

Curios to what do you guys think would be good actors for the roles of Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, Ciri, etc.

Netflix bringing Witcher to life.

Yeah, watch for those tanker trucks full of estrogen pulling into the studio.

By episode 3 Geralt will be taking it in the ass with a strap-on.

I'll be furious if they feminize Geralt.

I doubt it. I think you guys are a bit cynical. Andrzej sapkowski will have a lot of say in the production. Then again Geralt is a quite complex character.
In the games he more mellow compared to the books where he is more hotheaded.

I am more curious about who they are going cast as Geralt and Yennefer. If you could cast any actor to play Geralt who would it be?

Alot of online forums think Nikolaj coster waldau would be a good choice. Mads Mikkelsen too but I think he is to old.

Relax. Hollywood has this in hand. After all, this is the same band of clowns who have decided that Roland the Gunslinger -- a character all but explicitly said to be Clint Eastwood's Man With No Name -- shall be played by Idris Elba. I'm confident we will shortly be seeing Jet Li in the title role.

RE: Video games
I'm thinking it will more aptly be titled "The tales of Triss and Yennifer", guest starring their mundane, retarded man-friend.

I'm not even kidding when I say I'd put bets on Triss and Yen deciding to go lesbo while becoming casually dismissive of Geralt, who pines impotently for them. What's the alternative? Two women vying for the attention of one man? Heresy!

RE: Video games
Just finished Deus Ex Mankind Divided. It sure wasn't as good as the Witcher, but it was actually much better than expected. It did take a few hours to get into it, but if you explore the entire map and do all the sidequests the game takes a little over 30ish hours to complete, which is a good length if you want to play it over again and make different choices.

The map was a perfect size. Not one of those huge oversized maps in which getting from one place to another takes up most of your team, and definately no empty space. Hidden caches and interesting notes with lore everywhere. No stupid annoying boss battles. Interesting choices, most of which were very gray and really made you think. The newscaster cracked me up "remember, the most dangerous thing is false news"

Overall probably a 7.5-8 out of 10. If you can pick it up used like I did or on sale, would definately recommend.

Netflix puts out a lot of SJW garbage, but they also put out House of Cards, Narcos, F is for Family, BoJack Horseman, etc.

RE: Video games
Been playing SOMA for a bit now on my PS4- pretty cool game. kind of a horror/sci-fi. game's a bit older now i think but i just don't have the time for them the way i used to. still its fun every now and then.

you play a guy who finds himself at some broken down facility at the bottom of the ocean. character can't remember how he got there or what he's supposed to be doing. apparently there was some sort of catastrophic event on the surface. and that's about as far as i've gotten. games pretty fun for the most part, though very simple.

i've thought about picking up the Witcher 3 just because of all the recommendations from people on here and the rest of the internet, but i just can't do it with the open world games that take like 100+ hours anymore really. maybe one of these days when i can get it for 10 bucks digitally i'll give it a shot.

I thoroughly enjoyed SOMA despite the overall pace being a bit slow. The story itself would make a great movie if done right.

If you play the Witcher 3 you will not regret it. Thumb up

I reckon Anson Mount could make a half decent Geralt for the on screen adaptation of the books.

I have a feeling it will bomb regardless.

After hearing that the writer did not like the way the games portrayed his books I will not be holding my breath.

Kate Beckinsale for Yennefer (has the same overall look in my opinion, just throw black all over her)

The author is a famously grumpy old curmudgeon. His pride can't handle the thought of gaining international recognition off the back of the game series. The books are brilliant but the way the games faithfully bring to life Witcher universe in that medium is astounding. The game plots are so well written they could be canon. This is what kills him.

I think part of it is also because he's kicking himself for making a shit deal on the game: as I understood it he doesn't get a royalty out of copies sold, they paid a once-off licencing fee from him and he let the deal go through fairly cheaply because he wasn't expecting it to be a massive hit. If I understood it right the games have brought in a shitload more money than his books did.

So, funny continuation of my Witcher 3 issues.

Buddy who gave me the game can't run it on his computer, even though his is more high-end than mine. AND I've found videos on youtube of people running Witcher 3 on ultra-high settings on the same graphics card as me. No clue what the deal is.

Meanwhile, Witcher 2 going well, on Chapter 3.

I thought you had found out that you have a Geforce GT 620? If that's the case there's just no way in hell that it should be able to run The Witcher 3 on anything more than low settings (I'm actually surprised it handles TW2, maybe it's not a 620 after all?).

According to this https://www.futuremark.com/hardware/gpu/...620/review it's about on par with an integrated Intel HD 4000 (the 620 has a 3DMark GPU Score of 420, compared to a high end card from the previous generation like the 980ti that scores 18,340).
I have an Intel HD 5500 - and a Core i5 CPU - in my laptop and it's pretty much only good for simple indie games and old 2D games.

... The Witcher 3 running on an Intel HD 5500 Laugh . Looks like a ten year old game AND runs well below 30 fps at a screen resolution that was popular 15 years ago.
