I got accepted for my master in engineering in Lille and I just moved there today. School starts early october so I'm expecting a lot of parties before

I will keep a compilation of the adventures and the action here in Lille and during my travels. So far I can say that Lille has some of the prettiest french girls I have seen. If you like blonde girls with remarkable boobs it is the place to go. I never noticed that many blond french girls in the south in Grenoble but in Lille they are sll over the place and very very openable and friendly compared to Montreal and Paris. The Lillois are close to Montrealers I would say. I will elaborate on that.

Lille is one of the biggest student city in France..bigger than Grenoble. I've seen lot of international students also and it seems popular for an Erasmus semester. It is also a great city for biking and my goal is to bike to Brussels and all over the Flanders fields to see the world war 1 battlefields. Expect lot of weekend trips to Paris Brussels and London because Lille is 1h00 from each by TGV

I have never been to Lille but they say people are friendly compared to Paris (well it's not hard), the weather shouldn't be a problem for you but it's quite cold there too.

Lille didn't become part of France until a few hundred years ago, it is to Flanders what Alsace is to Germany.

I am doing my master in Railway and transportation engineering, I did a bachelor in civil engineering though at École Polytechnique in Montréal.

I had my first night with my roommate (a german girl) we went out to some of her acquaintance birthday party but she barely knows her. Anyhow it was a boring bar and we left saying goodbye to everyone because I was extremely tired from jetlag and she was tired also. Not much to remember from this night besides the good old saying, go out when only energized.

I have had some french girls, they are sexually open. Can take some days to invest in one, according to my experience. Just banter in the French you know and have fun and then it's quite easy to proceed.

Well after 3 days here and finally setting up my bank account, gotten a bike and finishing furnishing our apartment, I can say that Lille is really the capital of blond french girls. No city comes close in France for that. And they are somewhat extremely friendly in the shops and laughing at my stupid accent and jokes but I haven't really went out or daygamed yet. Tonight will be our first night at the bars. We will probably stay with Erasmus students but I wwant to approach some of the frenchies. Tinder seems popular and with 1 out of 4 I matched 1 opened me first but it does not seem as crazy popular as in Montreal. Okcupid is not popular here.

This is my 5th day now. I went out the last 2 nights at Erasmus parties.

The girl I connected the most so far is a Slovak girl that is 5 feet 11, blonde with blue eyes and very friendly. She really liked the fact that I was taller than her because most of the other students are pretty small. Yhe party I went to yesterday I was invited by a Mexican girl and when I saw her in reality she wasn't really pretty but she still have a bangable body. - Dress well, it's extremely important to have a fashion sense

Don't be :

Lourd; by that you mean don't harass them with texts. I would translate it as don't be too needy. Québécoises are the same in that matter. And yes you have to be very subtle with French girls, they are sexually open-minded but they like sophistiction and subtility in your way to attract them. However Québécoises (in Montréal) I would say are more likely to reject youin a very rude way if they don't like you and they dance with their group of girl friends and not with all the people having fun in the bar, they go out to be seen and not to have fun.

Keep in mind the north of France is way different than the South and Paris. I almsot feel like in a different country.

So I did my first day trip to Paris from Lille. I stayed in an hostel on the first night then at my friend place on the second.

Paris

Definately one of the most impressive city I have been to and I've been to many cities in Europe. Paris is the city of an empire and it felt. An Empire who was once the strongest in the world and in Europe, before the British Empire took over. But if the british empire had an higher focus on the rest of the world and less on London, France, as the undisputed ruler of Europe several time, made Paris its crown jewel and it is really the Capital of Europe. There's not a single building that is ugly to look at, you turn a corner on a street and boom, you see more and more beautiful architecture every time. Everything is detailed to perfection, it seems they even took how the sun would reflect on everything when choosing the material for most buildings. The city itself is artwork, it's simple and we have to be thankful for the Germans to have never bombarded the city or for the French to surrender it instead of letting it be attacked.

The people: As a french canadian, I had no problems communicating and talking with the French. I wasn't in the right mood for daygaming though and it felt difficult in that city. But I had no problem communicating with people and they were extremely friendly to me (I had reports that when they don't understand french canadian they stop, answer them in English and leave).

The first time I went to Paris I met a lot of frenchies at a rooftop bar close to La senne. I had good vibe with a british girl that got introduced by her gay friend and she was a fashion student. However,I got cockblocked by my credit card at the bar when I wanted to pay her drink. This bar was really cool I was underdressed compared to most people (shirt and jeans because my french friend who brought me there didnt let me shower and change) but everyone I talked to were really cool, not the snobby french attitude I was expecting.

On this trip I mostly did sightseeing tour, wasn't in the mood for day game because I was carrying a super heavy backpack due to switching from my hostel to another friend place and my back is still sore. At the hsotel I met a super cool swiss guy and he paid everything for me (well his company did he said..) (3 pints, 2 shots,1 bottle of wine and a meal (tartare)). I looked like shit the next day. I did manage to meet an american girl and kissed her but we were 3 guys on her, I've rarely seen an hostel with a 4:1 ratio like this so impossible situation and I was already too drunk and it was too late to go to another place. Still a cool night though thanks to the incredible tartare.

The next day I was hangover and slep at my friend place. Not much going on.

So not much to say about the girls other than I barely got any girls that gave me the look and smile, basically everyone in the street do their own things and are busy. Montmarte is better for this but again I was so hangover and tired + the heavy backpack that I didn't feel like it. But I will definately hit back Montmarte next time and bring better clothes + go to the places mentionned in Zuta datasheet. The social circle thing is very true in Paris, but I think you can pull off fashion students if you manage to sneak in their party spot.

But, it is better to go anywhere else in France for a good night out partying and a chance at a French flag (my suggestions are Lyon, Lile, Grenoble, Toulouse) at a decent price + authentcity of the people.

Yeah understanding québécois can be a challenge for a Frenchy. When I first moved to Canada, we went to Montreal and I had a hard time understanding people even the teachers in school. It's a slow process for sure. Had many moments where the words used in Quebec were totally different than those used in France. Took a while to understand that "ma blonde" in québécois means "my gf" and not my blonde girl. Understandably and unsurprisingly, Had a couple of funny moments with that.

Other than that, I'd recommend you speak slowly or not use too many québécois slang when talking to French girls. Yes it's charming and fun to listen to if you can understand it, but girls have a short attention span as we all know.

"Lourd" in that context would translate to being too serious, too boring and stiff in English. Not a good thing to hear from a girl!

If you get the chance, venture into the smaller cities and villages in the interior, "dans la France profonde". That's where the real French soul and real France is. Plus way cheaper as well.

For nice beaches, can't go wrong with the basque coast in the south west. Best beaches in Europe hands down! yes I'm biased but seriously, they are fantastic.

So yesterday had apéro and predrink with medicine friends. We were 2 guys and there were 3 girls: one slovak with a boyfriend, french girl with beautiful boobs, a german girl with my type of face and an accent i like. Gaming is different in Lille, I love to go out there, I have acquired a lot of phone numbers either from gaming in bars or outside bars. 0 from daygame and 1 or 2 from Tinder, all from french girls. I play mostly the Quebecer card a lot, they are always smiling and happy to talk, meet, tease and have fun with a Quebecer. Club game relies a lot on looks though and they only discover that I'm Quebecer after approving my look. Probably in bars I would have more success.
What is very interesting here is that you have to be a seductor, try in every way possible to approach the girls, make them laugh and DANCE with a lot of energy with them. Most songs that people love are from the 90es and 80es, old french songs and classics from rock and roll, and cheesy songs, not a lot of hip hop so far and there's not that many mainstream or electro club musics. However its very enjoyable, it feels like gaming and dancing in the 70es or 80es again, the old school way, and you can definately have fun in a bar this way because nobody is stressed out and has an angry bitch shield face. Everyone is having fun and smiling. One night stand culture seems to be happening, but its still not as easy as it sounds, hence the collection of numbers...but it seems every night I see a girl leaving with some random dude in a club.

Its definately a good city for night gaming and try to get a french flag instead of Paris. Nights out are fun, people are chill and girls are beautiful.

I really like the french girls here, there are 2 types, the Parisian type (students from Paris or other parts of France): who dress extremely well (not slutty), just elegante and are petite in figures and the Lilloise who are often taller, well shaped, blonde and who like to wear slutty dresses (the younger girls, the older ones get more muscular like on the picture below). The blonde Lilloise are making my underbelly work (its one of those I pulled the first time, even though she had black hair and was from the Ardennes). I have a mexican exchange student friend who speaks no french and he managed to have a ONS with a girl so I imagine any foreigner can do it and is well accepted. Latin countries like Mexico, Brazil are extremely appreciated here especially if you are a tall guys, girls love to practice their spanish with mexicans or dancing with brazilians. It's probably one of the best places I know for dance game, because the girls love to do it but are not good at it.

However, going out is extremely tiresome which makes it hard to dance well at the end of a night, since Tinder and Okcupid are not really options in France (Tinder not so bad, better than when I started but its still not really well seen)..I rely mostly on night game and I often get what I want early in the morning. I only have two french flags so far. Daygaming in France doesn't seem easy compared to when I was in other countries, especially in winter where it's pretty cold (November is as cold as Montreal right now, maybe worse). I haven't really tried the bars for gaming, only the clubs, maybe that's something that would be easier for me.

Since I stopped going to the gym, i'm also much less muscular than I used to be. I loved working out and I'm having negative effects of stopping.

Lille is an absolute goldmine for a visit for nightgame though, especially thursday, friday, saturday. Here's the datasheet of the bars I tried...for those who have been going out in Montreal and other notable places with good clubs/lounge, I haven't found the equivalent yet in Lille in term of quality and good music/dj/layout but its way chiller here, not a lot of negative attitudes

First Area Solferino, clubs and student bars district

Smile: A club mostly for young people (18-20) but there's a lot of people from every age group, just that age range is higher. First floor is shit, mostly mainstream music with a shit dj. Second floor is fun, mostly old songs from french music the disco era or the 80es-90es. Here if you dance well with a girl you can kill it, everyone does it. Its always packed and crowded on 'the days I listed earlier. Drinks are expensive (7 euros for a pint). Lot of girls go out in a group of two.

Magnum: A smaller bar where people dance on tables, good potential for gaming because its a smaller venue. The drinks are cheaper than at Smile.

La Boucherie: This place is for a crowd of 25-32 years old even though you can find older people or younger people around 20-21. Foreigners don't like it because its too french (the music is a lot of old french songs and rock song again, plus a lot of more mainstream but good and not aggressive songs). I like the lights there with the stroboscope, its set up in a way than if you are a little drunk anything can happen, its just crazy and crowded. Its a meat market, people go there for pickup women but that are not dressing slutty. Dance game and having fun game is a must. Its the only place in my life where I think, I got hit on the head by a dude, i made out with a girl and madeout with another one who brought me back to her place for sex, all in the same night. It has good ratio 50/50 compared to Smile

L'Irlandais/ O'scotland: O'scotland has pretty good beers, people drink there then go out at l'Irlandais where there's a little more action. I haven't really went out there so I don't know much about it but I will update the datasheet.

Latina club: I think its shit but Erasmus students seem to like it (mostly latin sudents tho), its shitty salsa and lating music and its not very fn.

In terms of cost of living, h much are you spending per month? How much would you say would be required to have a furnished studio or 1 bedroom, in a good area of town, within walking distances of the bars, clubs etc...?
