Southern California is a big fucking place. I live in Huntington Beach and work near LAX. I've been messing around with Tinder/OKC/POF in addition to trying to meet girls on the weekends and during the day (I don't usually get home until around 730/8pm since I go to the gym after work). With the wide net to cast in LA for girls online, I found this cute Swedish girl on Tinder who lives a couple miles inland from Venice Beach (about 30 miles from me in HB) going to school in LA. I know the best move is to get her to a spot by your place so escalation is easier and an SNL is possible. But, as a Player in Development and given the distance, is it advisable to go to her for date one, work up the charm and escalation to get to a date two by me and go for the score then?

Notes: I don't know her living situation and though I have trouble approaching in the wild still, I'm pretty good in person, one on one, so getting second dates, if I want them isn't that difficult.

Google Maps says Huntington Beach is an hour's drive from L.A/Venice, too far to meet her for drinks there and drive her back to yours, convincing her to come back in that situation isn't hard, but an hours drive is too long for that to work, plus your a newbie and that move requires more skill. Doing drinks in Venice and getting her to let you in to hers after would require even more. Best to go for the bang on date 2 instead, invite over to yours for "wine and a movie" or say you'll cook her dinner. Good luck.

I live rural, and most of the girls I date live an hour drive away. I just do a first date in town with a kiss close and go for the dinner and movie at my place for a second date. I drop bait about how sick my place in the mountains is, and my dogs etc. Works pretty well.

Go for a short, fun first date and play it aloof. You kino but make it seem like she hasn't won you over yet. Then you wait at least a few days, and for the second date you invite her over for dinner. You then use a contrived hook point to go from "undecided" to "really into her" and try to fuck her while the curry's cooking.

My advice: Game more local chicks unless you have a more compelling reason to go to this girl's area. If you're new to this then you're talking about racking up large numbers of flakes/no-bangs and other such useless leads, and you shouldn't burn your life away driving around for that. Invite this girl near to your place and if she can't make it, tell her to hit you up if she's ever in town. She might then decide "okay I'll come", but if not, move on.

You're talking about driving 2 hours (1 each way) for a date with a Tinderella that's probably only going to last 2-3 hours tops. That's not a good time investment and it looks very thirsty (to her, most importantly). In 5 hours daygaming at a more local hottie hangout (beach, mall, w/e) you could probably meet a girl and get an instadate, and it'd be much more likely to convert.

Good point, the ROI on my time is low. I messaged her and told she should come down to HB for drinks and exploration. No response as yet. I'll keep pushing forward with the plan to get her down to me.

I lived an hour out of the town where I went on dates last year, the scene where I lived was either jailbait or busted single moms, and the talent just wasn't there on OKC.

What I did was do what I needed to do in the first half of the day while in town, then book 2-3 shorter dates back to back in the PM. My volumes from OKC weren't high enough to double-book dates, but if I had a flake, I'd just read a book or do work for 2h. The dates would be coffee or a drink and walking around a park (find a place to make out), and I'd text the next girl if I was running a bit late. The goal was to seed attraction, get a make out, then schedule a 2nd date that would involve going back to hers.

Doing all of this still sucked (flaky girls occasionally cancelling the night before because they were "feeling sick" or they were busy sitting their friend's pet hamster or whatever), but it got me some good date experience and a solid LTR.

Pro tip: list your location as in the city, you can reveal that you're not from town (but go there regularly / looking to relocate soon) once they are more or less hooked. Not many girls will respond to a message from someone in Podunk.

Thanks Polar. I followed the advice of some well repped members higher up and pushed for the date to happen near me in Huntington Beach. It fell through which is fine. Even being in the same region like SoCal and only separated by 25-30 miles makes for an LDR situation if it ever progressed to that (which I did for about 9 months a few years ago in post beta, pre alpha days). Since I work in El Segundo, I might just start pushing for weekday dates after work (since I'm still dressed well) to set up a Friday night Saturday night situation where she comes to me in Orange County (since I should be able to get to her to feel like she owes me for making the first date near her). As they say, it's a journey.

I have no idea what Cali logistics are like, but yeah, try to schedule first dates for weekday nights somewhere more central (perhaps back to back, or do some approaching prior to the date so you get out of logical mode - something that has been a date killer for me personally), and then find a reason to end up at hers or yours (like cooking something you were going to anyway) or a low-cost meetup, like a museum that is open late where you drive and then "use the bathroom."
