Guys I had a dream/nightmare about mattress girl last night.

I was in my local corner store at the end of the fresh vegetables aisle, then this girl runs up to me with the warmest smile on her face. While I think it is good he got the settlement cash, I don't think it will dissuade lefty administrations in the least from stopping this stuff in the future. This attention whore just caused the cost of already crazy high tuition to go up even further. That should have come out of her own pockets, not being subsidized by other students.

This is the thing with all settlements: it is to literally balance pragmatism against principle.

He could've sued her and maybe won. Bear in mind that isn't a done deal, even with her dodgy bunch of e-mails that would've promised a Ghomeshi outcome. The pussy pass is still incredibly strong when it comes to rape allegations. But even if he did win, she would immediately declare bankruptcy, and he's a good 30K or more in legal fees for precisely zip. I also doubt a court would actually have the power to compel her to retract her allegations as such. On one hand that would've been an abysmal result pragmatically, but one hell of a satisfying result on principle, since bankruptcy has a few knock-on effects if she ever tries to make serious money.

The university had deep pockets and wasn't going to lose so much money he'd put it out of business. And suing the university makes the university and not the girl the bad guy, a tactical choice. But again it is still not a done deal that he wins in court, aside from it being horrendously expensive. And at the end of the day, even if he wins, he can't get away from the rape libel; he might well have been told by his lawyers a million bucks will go some way towards offsetting the loss in social status and jobs.

Who's to say it won't? Why can't he also sue her? Filing against Columbia first is the smart move, since 1) they have the deep pockets, 2) they have the big name and 3) a victory against such a high profile institution is MUCH more likely to cause other schools to revisit the kangaroo-court procedures instituted subsequent to the "dear colleague" letter issued by the anti-male Obama administration.

But unless so stipulated in the settlement, there is no reason he can't sue that cunt and her family next. Ruin them. That would cost money (which he now has more of), since an attorney isn't likely to take that case on contingency. But if he is motivated enough, and torts them into the poor house, it would send a message not just to universities but to the crazy kunts themselves. Because so far, their has (as always) been NO CONSEQUENCE against lying cunts who false-accuse at will. Bring down the pussy-pass, just a little, and you change society.

I don't know if this case will have that impact on society. But, today is a DAY TO CELEBRATE, GENTLEMEN! The good guys won one!
