Sure you can't blackmail someone who doesn't care. Doesn't mean you should go around making stupid decisions.

The higher you are in the totem pole the more you've got to lose. If you got caught up in this, and you're high up the ladder, you better damn well have the capabilities to fight back otherwise you're toast.

Thankfully we live in a society of short attention spans. So if whatever happens doesn't cause you to resign or get fired then it'll blow over. Real black mailers just don't stop with just you, they can target your friends and family too. You can't outright say that they aren't going to care either.

Surely, that could be the risk of calling their bluff - if they are bluffing....

I certainly understand the point about a guy being in a more vulnerable position depending upon how much he's got to lose.

I have yet to create my second "travelers" facebook page, which is a bit of an insurance investment for these kinds of situations and does make it a bit easier to say... who cares.. and to call their bluff (if it is a bluff).

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
QC,
While she did most of the stripping, I was in my boxers in bed as I had just woken up and played a bit with my Jr on cam. In hindsight, I should have ensured that my face not show up on the cam but the quality was very low when she showed me the vid, I could barely recognize myself.

As I said, I'm not worried as she has nothing on me and the only people on that fake FB account are mere acquaintances save maybe 2 sweet good girls.

But it is frightening of what some girls can do for money specially with today's technology. No more FB for me from now on and skyping only PG style with girls.

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
I Skyped with a girl from FC. Did the video and she was wearing a bikini and was seriously the hottest woman I had ever seen. She turned the cam off after 10 seconds and then told me she was here in NYC (Queens). Gave me her cell and address and wanted to meet up, but wanted MY CELL number. She was all about getting my cell.

When I think about it, my cell number is used as an identity confirmation for banks, and a lot of other things. Of course I told her I wouldn't give it to her and then she disappeared.

Atlantic, hilarious stuff man!ahahah

Onto, be careful online my friend! Pipeline as much as you want but make sure to never use your real name, get a fake name for girls that you'll remember. Create an email and FB account with it. No info about you on your FB account such as schools/uni you went to or where you work. I know you're aware of these common sense steps but they need to be stressed out specially for the younger and less experienced guys out there!

Be very careful guys out there!!!

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
I've never had anyone try to scam me on a dating site. It's usually not terribly difficult to narrow down the real girls from the flakes and potential con jobs.

I take these precautions:

Location is the biggest and most obvious thing. If she doesn't want or can't meet asap or if she's not within reasonable boning distance then she's automatically off my list.

Use whatsapp or line if you want to chat. Another good thing to do is to sign up for some prepaid SIM plan that offers free talking minutes. Then just call her up once and chat a bit to gauge her personality

I don't mind giving girls my first name but my age is always fake because I don't want anyone to pin down my exact b-date. Plus if you're going to pump and dump most girls they don't need to know how young or old you are anyways.

I'm also not on FB or any other social media. I see no value in maintaining it and it hasn't been an issue with most girls in SEA anyways. That's what smartphone apps are for.

Also, if a girl is hanging out in her bikini or underwear or has profile pics of this nonsense then you know she's likely either a 1) massive slut or attention whore or 2) a scammer. There's nothing wrong with #1 provided they give up the goods but most of the time it seems to be just a scam. I've never met with a girl who has these types of profile pics.

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
One potential red flag that I've discovered with scammers on OKC is them listing their location as say Miami but in the summary claiming they're living in Colombia. This is related to one encounter I had with a scammer who had listed "her" location as being here in South FL and then in message saying she's in Turkey(and later "needing" money to fly over here).

Other signs to look out for, bad english, traveling to another place shortly after coming into contact with you(my second scammer encounter was like that), any mention of "Africa" and favors of any kind(particularly ones involving the phone or money).

This scammer bullshit combined with the usual problems of online dating with real women, doesn't paint a pretty picture of it in my eyes.

Especially on your real FB account, but I do it on my fake one too (actually I only have a fake one myself), it is always a good idea NOT to let anybody else see your list of contacts. It can be suppressed.

I swear i have read pretty much the exact same thread on the bodybuilding.com forums a couple of months ago.

Some guys in there did an amazing detective work and found the exact location where the girls sent the messages, who was the owner and all the stuff needed to basically get them to back off.

Found it http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread...=158811203

Unfortunately you're in the EU, because I used google's removal service to remove all my information from their searches.

I listed a secondary email account (not my primary one) on a chat room years ago, but I later came to regret it. Although it contained no identifying information, a second chat room had used the first portion of the same email address as my chat room handle -- without my permission.

In short, I did not want anyone from the second chat room to identify the information disclosed in the first chat room by searching through Google using my chat room handle and then stumbling across my email address.

At any rate, I asked the first chat site to remove my email address for privacy reasons. They did so rather quickly. Fortunately, it was not a chat room like this one where your information remains forever.

I then asked Google to delete my email address (from the first chat room) from its search engine. There is a process for performing this function, but it takes time -- and it can take much longer than Google claims. This happened some time ago but, as a guess, Google claimed that it would take about a month, but it actually took about three months. You can Google the exact process.

There are many lessons here, but let me summarize as follows. A smart man learns from his mistakes. A genius learns from other people's mistake. In the realm of cyberspace, strive to be a genius -- because you may not get a second chance.

I'm going to tell you, from somebody who knows the Philippines to the heart, no decent Filipina girl ever goes to these Pinay dating websites.

Look at all the members there. Mostly really thirsty broke-ish white guys, middle eastern guys and rich old East Asian guys. All the girls are there for the money.

The OP did not say "life-threatening" or "fatal," but if your reputation is destroyed it can be pretty wrecking. The bad news is that for a vulnerable victim even if he sends the money there is no guarantee that the scammers will not blackmail him forever. In fact, it will be surprising if they don't.

I am NOT sure if I understand your point - b/c it does seem to go a bit contrary to what seems to be the pipelining practice in the Phils (prior to arrival).

It is fair for you to have your perspective based on your experience(s), but may you be just a little over generalizing about the kind(s) of girls using these dating websites in the Phils?

Are you suggesting that a guy should NOT use dating websites at all? Are you wanting to cut down the number of bangs that foreign guys get with "your" Pinays, in possibly a subconscious protective way?

So tell us: If a guy is in the Phils or going to the Phils, should he just wait until he arrives there before beginning to game? And, what would you suggest as the best means to game good pinays in the phils? Which cities and which kinds of venues?

Once he sends money, he is probably done for and also he is probably gonna be labelled and distributed as a good and ripe target for scamming. Blush

Another story which also shows you have to be careful about what you do sometimes:

While in general I try to avoid social circle game, I messaged some horny shit while drunk to a cute girl who lives close by and with whom I have a lot of friends in common, trying to get her to come over & bump to my place.

Apparently she is in a private FB group with 15-20 girlfriends, and she posted screenshots of our convo in there. She didn't know I slept with one of the other girls in the group before, who told me all about it - otherwise I wouldn't have even known.

So yeah, another reason for me to avoid social circle game.

To be fair, this type of scam is quite old. Facebook and cheap, easy online video certainly add a new dimension of dangerous to it, but this type of thing as old as phone sex hotlines.

Hell, they were probably doing it with skin mags back in the day, and I'm sure pimps were shaking johns down back in the wild west.

Definitely a good reminder for the forum about the shameless lengths scammers will go though.

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
I don't know why they need to see you on the cam if all they want is money. I would never show any part of my body if I am paying for some product to be shown to me. That would have been the tip off for me. I'm glad you had a throwdown FB account. Pinays are always slick with that facebook bullshit.

I also do not know why guys do not shit test pinays in online game. YOU ARE THE CATCH! Not them! They have almost no SMV against most of us. Like 0.5/10 compared to us. I would run down a list of: Do you do xxxx, xxxx, xxxx, etc. until I get enough clues to satisfy my paranoia. If they flake or resist, I would right click, ban, and then give zero fucks about it, and keep it moving. Like you said you have too many messages and inquiries in your inboxes. Why give a fuck? I also like QC's attitude. So what bitch? Fuck you. Laugh

I also second Badwolf's post too. Chinese cannot do that shit nor can they have facebook (legally at least). You get your own Qzone page automatically, just add one cartoon pic and nothing else on it and it would not matter who you add to your QQ account. They cannot shit bomb your contacts in anyway that makes you look bad and you can satisfy the requirement of having one. Easy peasy.

RE: WARNING: scary scam on dating sites!
Its a huge scam in Philippines, already over 100 people are arrested for doing the exact same thing that happened to you.

100 more Filipino suspects linked to sex blackmail

http://www.philstar.com/headlines/2014/0...-blackmail

About 100 more Filipino suspects are linked to online blackmail syndicates that extorted money from victims worldwide after luring them into exposing themselves in front of webcams or engaging in lewd chats, a Philippine police official said Tuesday.

The syndicates prey on mostly male victims by employing women with fake Facebook accounts who strike up online chats. The victims are duped into engaging in lewd talk, exposing themselves before a webcam or performing a sexual act, which are secretly recorded and used to blackmail them, Philippine police said.

The crackdown in the Philippines was partly sparked by information that a 17-year-old mechanic in Scotland, Daniel Perry, took his own life in July last year after being victimized by a Filipino extortion group. The BBC has reported that he killed himself after being warned that his video conversations would be circulated to his friends and family if he didn't pay.

Three of the 58 arrested Filipino suspects were believed to have victimized Perry, who jumped off a bridge after being blackmailed by the syndicate, Sosa said.

Skype is un natural. You guys should never put yourself in a position where someone can record a video conversation with you at any level.

I didn't even really know what it was until recent but my common sense tells me not to use it.

If you mean gaming online, then I tend to strongly agree with you because I am personally very privacy conscious. On the other hand, Skype is extremely useful (and free) for keeping in touch with family while offshore. The problem with Skype is that, aside from the possibility of the recipient recording the conversation, it is not encrypted and therefore not private (and can therefore also be intercepted by third parties).

In terms of gaming, everyone has different risk thresholds. For example, from 20Nation on the "The Ultimate Philippines Data Sheet":

Quote:This is where I absolutely destroyed the Philippines. I hooked up with some of the hottest girls you could possibly get from the internet. I can honestly say I have internet game down to an art.

. . .

Of all the real high quality girls I have met on the internet in my whole trip (including my trips to other SEA countries) only 2 agreed to meet me without webcamming. 1 was dumb luck with a poor girl, and the other was a complete nympho (But wow was she a hotty). Webcamming will save you a lot of flakes, and will set you up in a position where she will spend the rest of the relationship chasing you.

/thread-20905....hilippines

So (1) know the risks of using a webcam before you engage in such activity; (2) do not say (or do) anything on a webcam that you would not want to see published on YouTube; (3) do not provide any identifying information that allows women to identify you, including a Facebook account; (4) know that what you might say (or do) on a webcam might have no impact on you in your youth, but could come back to haunt you years or even decades later. I am sure that other members could add other astute rules and observations to this list.
