The Flip Flops Thread
Did a quick search on the forum, and realized there wasn't a thread about sandals (besides people wearing them with socks). Wanted to know what yall wear and what your style is when you are at the beach or just want something comfy.

I love my reef sandals. Whenever I'm at the beach, I'm always rocking a pair of board shorts and my reefs. Have 3 pair and they are incredibly comfortable. My favorite pair are the Reef Fannings. Have this exact pair. They look great and feel great. Plus they have bottle openers underneath Banana

RE: The Sandals Thread
I have been wearing Chaco Z1/Z2 since 2004. I wear them almost exclusively other than my work boots. At the end of the day when I get in my pick-up to head home I change out into my Chaco's. I even wear them in mid winter with two pairs of wool socks. I am currently burning through my 7th pair since 2004.

RE: The Sandals Thread
To me, those are "flip-flops". I usually think of sandals as having a strap that goes around the heel. Then again, some Birkenstocks don't, so maybe I'm wrong.

I always felt like sport sandals such as Tevas were a great improvement...then flip-flops (which I wore as a little kid) became popular and I couldn't understand why.

With a proper sandal you can move fast if you have to, without tripping or breaking a toe.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Good call. Just changed the thread title. Didn't really think that through.

Huh. They're called 'Thongs' in Australia, and wearing them anywhere but at the beach is a sign of being working class - probably what you'd call 'White Trash'.

Ugg Boots were the same. I never understood how Uggs became high fashion - we were always told not to wear them to job interviews when I was in school.

I've always preferred sanuks. Very comfortable but don't last well. The cushion is made out of yoga mat. I'm gonna look up those reef and chaco ones.

"Thong" is a word to describe the type of shoe itself inside sandals. Similar to pistol rather than gun, in a way. As well as flip-flops.

And ugg boots are bad. Neg a white valley type girl about her uggs and all hell breaks loose though. Not race-baiting, just the truth.

RE: The Flip Flops Thread
I grew up in Southern California so I started wearing Rainbows in middle school. Once you break them in they will last forever and are the most comfortable flip-flop I've ever tried. It's too bad that the price has doubled since I last bought a pair. I'll probably switch to Reefs when the pair I'm on breaks.

That being said, I wear them whenever I get a chance.

RE: The Flip Flops Thread
IMO flip flop is a flip flop. I usually pick up the cheapest non-brand pair I can find. Usually less than 5 USD.

Worst is the surf brands trying to pitch this as important surf gear, while in fact you don´t even use them while surfing.

A guy doing flip flops (except shower) is frankly a non-starter. To me, these "things" should be worn only by women as they give off an aura of helplessness which requires a rescue from the man.

And besides, it makes you appear slow and lazy.

I wear Havaianas because they're durable and simple.

I like Flip-Flops for the beach or when I go swimming/hanging out at the park.

Flip flops, only for beach, pool or other functions near water. Don't walk around town with them, restaurants, bars, coffee shops etc. Most of the time they look like shit and only work with the surfer/bum look.

Get a pair of espadrilles for light-weight summer shoes.
