I'll give women a little more credit. I think this comes from their experience with making themselves more attractive. Most things women do to attract men are temporary. Every morning they start off more or less the same level of attractiveness as they did the morning before. With the exception of a fat girl losing weight there's very little permanent change a woman can effect that will make her significantly more attractive to men. Because that's all they know they view any male attempts at self improvement to be as shallow. They assume anything a guy does to improve his chances with women goes away by the time he wakes up the next morning. They're so used to just being attractive that they can't comprehend how somebody would have to work hard to create any kind of permanent change in their attractiveness.

The upside of this is that if you do change yourself for the better women will just assume you were born that way. Don't dissuade them otherwise.

I believe "just be yourself"'can be a (sometimes unintentional) shit test. Your concept of "yourself" may be an illusion, and it may very well be tainted by layers of cultural programming you aren't even aware of. Sorry if that's getting a bit deep for this thread.

That's a pretty good video clip- the messed up (incongruent) part is where the guy walks away speedily like a little phaggot.

Nah, I think an unattractive guy can capture and create that moment.....to get the blowie! Looks I dont think are a huge factor for woman. Vulnerability is key here.

This what I was thinking when I started this thread. (In hindsight I should have made that clear). My thought was that it would be useful to everyone, for members post material where girls/women are communicating with each other about what men have done to get them turned on and/or banged. Ideally when they think men are NOT "listening" so we can get honest (or as honest as is possible) feedback and / or insight.

This is true, but also consider that "just be yourself" is a reflection of the female desire for "congruence" or the "sense of authenticity." They'll say they want guys who are "authentic," but what's really being communicated is they want to feel the sense of authenticity. Fortunately, the sense of authenticity can be fairly easily faked.

So they don't really mean "be yourself," they mean "have a frame that makes me feel like you are authentic." Not sure exactly how this connects to the rest of the female attraction process but it's an important trait in both alpha and beta terms. A lot of shit tests (like flaking or disagreeing with your opinion) are just asking for congruence of frame, if you flip frame you fail because you've compromised the authenticity.

"Don't take dating advice from women" is an absolutely true maxim, but don't forget that female platitudes like JBY often have very informative value for guys who know what to listen for subtextually. Women tell us a lot of truth, they just aren't communicating in the literal meaning of the words, and in some cases aren't communicating what they intend to communicate at all.

Congruence to me is, taking actions and making decisions based on a defined set of rules that may be based on believes/mindsets you have. Basically she is trying to flip switches, playing with us, like men play with their electronics by flipping every possible switch to understand how it works and to properly manipulate it. If you flip the same switch several times and always get a different result, you will start to hate your electronic toy. The device is not reliable/predictable. Its the same with women trying to flip men's switches.
