This article says that most women make up their minds about a man that is talking to them in three minutes. Three minutes! Even if it might be a little longer than that, I think the gist of this article is true. Girls know instantly, and almost never change their minds. What I take away from this is after a few minutes, if you feel like you're treading water and not getting any response from a girl, you should move on. Thoughts?

I guess what I meant to say was, if a girl is not responding to you positively in the first five or ten minutes, it is very hard to change that negative perception to a positive one. Obviously, it is still incumbent on you to maintain a positive vibe that you have created and not screw it up by being boring, insane, nerdy, etc. But those first few minutes are the very narrow window for getting a foot in the door, to use a mixed metaphor.

Hmm, I believe you are right..so if the body language hasn't improved in the first five or ten mins tops, cut losses and move on to the next..yes I agree fully with you.

Dude, this has ALWAYS been one of my problems: not shutting the fuck-up or getting too intellectual with what I AM saying. If I'm going to fuck something up, the odds are that I'm going to louse it up this way. It's comforting that I'm not alone on this one. But having said that, I can get away with it a tiny bit more (and frankly, it's a near-necessity) with one of my favorite targets: nerdy, weird girls.

I once got a make-out (and eventual lay) by talking to a girl about Barack Obama's fundraising tactics! No bullshit. Maybe it's all in the delivery.

Dude, this exact same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I thought I HAD this girl, I was teasing nonstop for like 15 minutes, she was laughing, giving great feedback, I'd initiated body contact, etc. Turns out the girl was an opera singer from USC. I'm a classically trained musician so I ditched my game for 5 seconds, got excited and I started asking her about her favorite composers and within 2 minutes she literally had her back to me.

I gotta say, this shit frustrates the hell out of me. I know I'm being too logical here...but meeting someone in a bar that can intelligently discuss a common interest? When did that become a turnoff? More and more, whenever I hear girls go on about, "Oh, I just want someone funny, cute, INTELLIGENT..." it makes me want to puke.

But, I agree with you. Girls that say they want an "intelligent" guy don't know what they're talking about 90 percent of the time. In fact, they don't know what the fuck they want until you come over and sell it to them. That's why that old sales saying exists in the first place: "Don't pitch the bitch." No logical decision-making skills.

It's interesting that some of these chicks will claim--often unsolicited--that THEY'RE intelligent. Maybe therein lies the answer. THEIR idea of intelligent is being glued to their phone, using "like" for every other word, and woo-ing loudly to express enjoyment.

My problem with the silence thing is that I am very boring when I don't say anything. I guess some guys are good with appearing vapid and dull at the same time arousing women.

Women don't necessarily want a mute.
My problem is, I'll eventually say something and then end up saying some smart (which is dumb if u want pussy) which will effectively blow ops for nookie.

Usually, there are long moments of silence because I am unable to make any comment on inane topics (the crappy half time show at the superbowl), tony parker and eva longoria, what women want etc etc.

I may need a workshop in how to keep my mouth shut and yet arousing to women at the same time.

I'd go a step further and say that girls figure out if they want to sleep with you within the first minute. I asked a few girls when they usually figure it out and they all individually said within the 0.45 -1.30 minute area.

Was she an "artist" type of girls? I found them to be exactly like you described - they like to go intellectual, but they also cannot handle the man who is more intellectual than them.

Folks we will continue to bang our heads by thinking about womens logic. Forget about it.... Also, I have suffered the consequences of being intelligent in front of women, but sometimes oddly it worked in my favour. GO FIGURE!?!?!?!?!?!? one such case was a persian chick. I started talking about her country and pretended that I was the secret police..... she was impressed with how much I knew and eventually made out with her that night. I was intelligent but at the same time playful. In this case it worked. Now with other girls, I gauge when the pendulum swings in my favour, so that she can initiate conversation. So, whenever she asks me an opinion question, I just continue being playful but make her do more of the talking so I don't shoot myself in the foot.

Wait till the pendulum swings in your favour, then show off a bit and give her your "intellectual" opinion. Before this, just be playful and make her do most of the talking when it becomes a bit too serious.

Logic and women tend to never mix. Ive run into the same issue as posted above. Girls think they want intelligence, but they hate people smarter then them. Notice how girl groups tend to be all of roughly the same intelligence? Its much rarer for like a genius girl to be hanging out with party chicks then it is for guys. Plus they tend to use the most fragmented and convoluted logic i have ever seen. I try to stay away from the whole higher stuff. I literally 1/2 the time turn my ears off and find myself nodding and thinking about interesting things, or looking for hotter chicks around when girls are talking to me if the topics come up. Then when she asks something im supposed to respond to, i just ignore the questions and say something like "oh i wasnt really listening, i got a bit bored" or something along those lines. Works for me, just dont overuse it.
