Of course there is a rub to it that they don't mention, and that is that SMP value is used mainly to pre-screen, so that if you are perceived as undesirable by a woman, she won't want to get to know you better even if it were true that she would desire you if only she were to truly get to know you.

The article does lend however some credence to the notion that beta-ish long game might work provided you get your foot in the door.

Just be nice to women and you will win in the long run, because love is a marathon and not a sprint. All those immature jerks who banged your girl in her prime will stay immature and continue banging young girls well in their forties and fifties while a mature woman will scorn them and reward you with her hand in marriage where you will experience a truly egalitarian relationship.
