"When Factory Jobs Vanish, Men Become Less Desirable Partners"
Nothing ground-breaking, just what we all already know since a while all perfectly summarised in one article:
  • Decline of the West
  • Decline of the nuclear family
  • AF/BB
  • Hamster wheel on full power
  • Hypergamy

Quote:A new study by the economists David Autor of MIT, Gordon Hanson of the University of California at San Diego, and David Dorn of the University of Zurich, provides evidence that their economic struggles are directly responsible for many of their personal ones. The study finds that, as men’s economic prospects decline, they marry less frequently. Once, men had good earnings, especially when compared with women. But now these men don’t earn much more than women do, and so fewer people are getting married, and more children are being born out of wedlock. Children are much more likely to grow up in poverty in households headed by single mothers.

Edit: what's also interesting on this is the discussion going at HN (Hacker News), a tech community that I think couldn't be more BP, where you see most guys also start to see things for what they really are: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=13795367 , some comments on there:

Quote:Modern life is just bizarre, and especially so for men. We used to perform tasks that were immensely valued by women. Our rewards were directly dependent on our abilities. We worked hard and we achieved goals. Modern life is none of those things for most men.

Quote:I'm not sure if those living on the coast can relate, but that article sure explains what I've seen over the last 35 years here in Michigan.

Quote:This parallels what's happened in Japan, too (the decline of Salarymen, rise in temp work and the decline in birthrate + marriage & relationships).

No surprise - one of the leading causes of decreased marriage and childbirths.

It is not only based on feminism - k-selected cultures take into account:

1) Earnings of men vs women - the more men make vs women the better
2) short-term and long-term costs for raising children - thise does not only concern immediate child costs, but also education - smart populations take this into account and don't pop out 6 children when everything is extremely expensive

You can impact fertility rate via a multitude of means - destruction of the male employment base is always a very useful tool.
