Univision.com has a live HD stream (available in US) - no having to sign up with your email or other bullshit.

I love it - ESPN (or whoever owns US English broadcasting rights) insists on making people jump through hoops to watch the games. I'd gladly pay $100 to just stream them for the length of the tournament, but the only option in the US is to purchase a cable subscription.

On the other hand, Univision is like "world cup!!! watch that shit right here for free!!!"

I was so excited to watch Brazil play well in their home country, but after that blatant Fred flop, I hope they get eliminated in group stage. Pathetic Brazil.

Update: This match is fixed. Completely legit goal disallowed.

Terrible refereeing, either corrupt or incompetent and well out of his depth. The way the linesman was stupidly grinning at the start, it was like he had won a competition to be there.

Neymar could have been sent off earlier, never a penalty with Fred and very harsh to deny that Croatia goal.

Brazil were poor, if they play like this later in the competition they won't do well, after the BS today I hope they get knocked out early.

Of course the commentators neglect to mention any of this, but rather talk as if Brazil have some divine right to win the competition.

Reminded me of Korea in 2002.

The referee doesn't need to be corrupt, the gangbang the Brazilian players have lined up for him after the match will be sufficient reward.

RE: World Cup 2014 Thread
I may be biased, but that croatia goal was properly disallowed. Anyone who plays footy knows if you interfere/obstruct the goalie in an aerial ball you will be called 100% of the time. Olic (I think) didn't only obstruct, but he jumped on the goalie and leaned on his shoulder, 100% foul.

The penalty of course I was excited about, but on replay it seemed Fred went down too easy. On a second look and if you think about from a defender perspective if you pull on a striker who is about to turn you will disrupt his shot (foul). I've played in many situations where a forward had his back to me in the box and it's simple, you don't let him turn by using your body or getting the ball. There is no way you should pull/push with your arms because he will either fall legitimately or on purpose and give a good penalty case. Defender should have known better, especially Lovren.

Croatia also had some harsh fouls throughout the game that went unpunished many times. Marcelo was fouled at least 5-6 occasions.

To say the match had a bad referee performance is understandable, but to say it was fixed is outright retarded.

In isolation the incidents are debatable, but looking at the match as a whole Croatia can certainly feel hard done by.

I think FIFA is corrupt as hell. I don't think this game was fixed but this wouldn't be the first time that a host nation has received favorable treatment from referees.

Game rigged. Brazil won. Host teams NEVER lost an opening match.

Next: tomorrow Spain-Holland.

RE: World Cup 2014 Thread
On a side note, the final score doesn't justify the struggle. Brazil also had some more quality chances (Oscar shot first half for instance) but Croatia also pressed on and had some quality chances of their own, and seemed to almost capitalize on a 'playing-it-safe' Cesar. Modric from a distance, and also I can recall 2-3 close calls in the last 10 minutes where the game could have most definitely had an entirely different result.

Looking forward, even though people keep placing my country as favourites for the title I can't really see it. Besides the pressure we have to face, we don't have an easy route to the final. Most likely now 2nd place from B which will be a very strong team (I honestly think Chile will come out of that group) and afterwards a clash with a top European seed on the way to the semis. We have a talented squad but even if we build some consistency coincidences are an enemy especially against such tough opposition that is pitted against us on an eventual route to the final.

At least I can relax now and enjoy the other games starting tomorrow.

I'm not a big soccer fan, but I figured I'd watch the game and see if I wanted to get into the World Cup this year.

I'm not going to watch another game. That was fixed.

Take off your brazilian glasses. Off course you disrupt the strikers shot, but it happens in every situation in the box. Every corner should be a penalty by that reasoning. Never a penalty, not even close. And the Croatian second goal. Agreed that referees call that very often, but also not a foul. He jumps straight up without intention to hit the keeper. Additionaly Neymar couldve gotten the red in the first half as well.

Ps. I dont have any relation to Croatia and I do think Brazil was slightly better, but it should have been a draw and that game was bad publicity for football.

Dissgusting , Scolari won this game with pressure on referee while Kovac stayed calm, big mistake.

And Fred praying after that flop was cringe worthy.
