A tip for you guys arriving in NAIA :

If you try to grab a taxi at the arrivals floor levels, Taxi will either be fixed rate (and very expensive) or the queue for the metered taxi will be very long.

Instead, simply go back up to the departure floor (a bit of a walk around the airport, but it's worth it) and take a taxi there.
There are plenty dropping people there, but no one seems to be getting in.

I have seen this in a few airports, its mainly to protect some of the more expensive hardside luggages but now being used for bullet protection. I didn't see the stand personally, but I wouldn't trust anyone at the airport, from other passengers to security guards to those offering luggage trolleys. I did see many bags, both check in and carry on completely wrapped in cellophane and the use of tape over exterior pockets.

Another interesting tidbit, is that Cebu Pacific weighs passengers, at least the flight to Boracay I took.

Very selective. About the same as you. Picky about looks because I get a match roughly 50% of the time I swipe right. Matches add up quickly. Agree about the quality, but in the US I rarely even get any matches to begin with.

Very selective. About the same as you. Picky about looks because I get a match roughly 50% of the time I swipe right. Matches add up quickly. Agree about the quality, but in the US I rarely even get any matches to begin with.

I was and am a big fan of the Phils. But I still think Manaus, Brazil is a better pussy paradise. I am going next week to see if after 3 years it is still so.
Nobody goes to the jungle areas of Brazil, but more and more men are showing up, all over the Phils.

Yes the big issue is that in the Phils, they all speak English. And that is why it is so good and also bad in some ways.
Who wants to take the time and effort to learn Portuguese. Though the sexual rewards are just as good, if you speak the language....which is not the case in Eastern Europe or even Colombia.

How to avoid the underage girls?

I am about to make my first trip to the phillipines and have been pipelining online a fair bit. I have a lot of girls interested, but something I have just noticed is getting me pretty nervous.

I have added quite a number of the girls who want to meet me to Facebook - only to find out they are 15-17 years old, although their online profile usually says 20. Let me make this clear - I HAVE NO INTEREST IN GIRLS UNDER !8, both for moral as well as legal reasons. But given the large number of girls I have found that who have lied about their age, I am not sure what to do about the ones I haven't verified. I have no desire to go to jail or get blackmailed over a girl. I didn't realize until this week that there are many girls in college under 18. I have one 17 year who is persisting in wanting to meet, but says she has to bring her mom along!!

I haven't even stepped foot in the phillipines and already it seems pretty messed up.

Any advice from others who have encountered this is appreciated.

It's a very messed up place. There's no getting around that.

I've experienced this too on FC and with girls who put 24 as their age. Most eventually tell you, or give you their Facebook so you can find out yourself. If they are underage they probably can't meet you during the week at night or during the day because they are in school, unless it's semester break.

I would think Tinder and ok cupid would have less of that. Also do more day-game instead. If you're ever worried just ask them straight out or see their id.

The tranny's often tell you before too long also. The more time you spend in the Phil, the more experience you'll get with weeding out the Pros, Tranny's, Secret Mommy's and Underage girls.

I had a guard at the entrance to the Manila airport whispering to me about "gifts" and "souvenirs" "dollar bill" when I was trying to enter.

This cynical and lazy attitude on the part of Filipinos is why the country is an economic mess and why if you can find a girl who is not infected with it ( harder than it seems) all she will want is to get out of the place. The only solution for the problems of the Philippines for a resident is to get out.

Cebu seems much more manageable and although dishonest drivers accost you at the exit offering crazy priced rides it just seems like there isn't enough bribe money around to really make it crazy like manila.

Asiana a Korean airline flies direct to Incheon from Cebu and from there to LA, Seattle, and SFO.

The Philippines blasting itself in the foot with a shotgun isn't anything new though. The airport debacle is just really a reflection of how the country as a whole is run. NAIA is a shithole and probably will always be. I think secretly some pinoy politicians get a kick in knowing how much of a shithole it is like it's a running joke amongst themselves because they make money hand over fist on public project corruption regardless of the advanced decay of all existing public infrastructure.

Back in the 60's-70's (?) they had a period where they were the darling of the global investment world. People expected Manila to be like Tokyo (seriously) in 30 years.

The P.I. government there gradually decided to stop paying back loans and started ripping off major foreign investors. Investments tanked and corruption infiltrated every level of government and corporate enterprise.

The P.I. is a bit like most of Africa in this respect..the people living in the house will burn down their own house just to steal money left on the table. It's a propensity for very short sighted type of views and incapability of learning from mistakes which is why things remain as they are in the Philippines.

Politics in the P.I. is a complete joke too. Politicians openly commit criminal acts and arrogantly thumb their nose at the public.

People saying that the P.I. is going to be developed soon don't really understand the history of the region very well. The country has massive problems one of which is overpopulation, no handle over corruption, and a severe lack of decent infrastructure outside of main city centers. These problems aren't going away anytime soon.

RE: Bullet Planting Scam

Agreed! I was having a few drinks with some local business men at the Holiday Inn Makati a few days ago and there are many of them calling this an international embarrassment. Doesn't help that the United Nations also has to issued a travel warning to their staff about this. I am curious to see how the government will resolve this bullet planting scam.

This is a nice country in my opinion, hence the numerous return trips plus following this thread. The country has great isolated beaches in some areas, cheap and world class scuba diving, triathlon scene is growing, and really friendly people. I won't let the small group of ill intent people (vulture taxi drivers, gold diggers and the NAIA staff involved in the bullet planting scam) ruin my impression of the country as a whole.

I have tons of stories of good deeds or kind acts locals have shown to me without asking for anything in return. It's unfortunate that the acts of a few can ruin it for many...but isn't that always the case?!?!

I will give the NBI the benefit of the doubt to resolve this since they seem eager to have some heads roll. Also comes at a bad time since the Philippines is hosting US President Barack Obama and other world leaders for the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit on November 18.

If there are any members traveling during the dates of this summit, I would prepare for a LONG wait (on top of the regular delays) at the NAIA. I heard chatter that there will be a 2-3 hour window of suspension on arrivals and departures to accommodate the arrival of world leaders.
