The hook in that song is the sound I associate with Portishead.

So I've been drink and click buying crap on ebay.. I bought a museum quality vintage trials bike last night for the opening bid and the seller has not responded to me.. I think he thought it was going to the moon..so did I as I set my max bid 1k higher than what I paid.

I have a theory that old jap bikes 70s, 80s are going to the moon soon so the ones I want I'm buying up.

That Bristol place was insane in the 90's. So many great artists from that era.

"Glory Box" is the first "red pill" song I can remember. I was coming down off a hit of Dove snuggled up next to a sexy redhead from Devon and I thought to myself, "women just want a man, so they can be a woman". Simple as can be.

I just bought Soundgarden- Badmotorfinger last night. Its not easy to find good quality 90's vinyl. And f*ck me that album rips! Reminds me of shredding the rubber off a 69 Camaro back when I was in high school.

Ha ha, it's not like in South Africa I have a choice of models to pick from in the music shop. The music store guy was pretty surprised that someone actually wanted a decent ukulele and not a guitar. But they pulled out a Ziko Dux 18s with some sweet sounding aquila strings, and that's what I bought.

My first ukulele is a PureTone with some nasty nylon strings that are high off the fret board, you have to press really hard and even then the sound can be harsh. But even a bad ukulele has a charm of its own.

Remember when learning to play the uke, that the strings need to be 'broken in' and that you'll have to re-tune the uke between each song. It takes a while for a uke to stop detuning itself after every few strums.

Chromebook HP 14 from craigslist brand new for $200...exactly what I need in a laptop except no Skype (use Google Hangouts yeah right with my Mexican gf). But it is awesome, I love it.

Yamaha acoustic guitar, bought for $75 from an Elvis impersonator off Craigslist. My old acoustic sounds OK in open chords, but above the 5th fret it sounded like it's made of a shoebox. Also, I was having problems with bar chords - thought it was my technique. New axe sound great and magically I can play nice clean bar chords.

Bose SoundDock 10. Bought it with credit card points. I've got a pretty sick vintage tuner/speaker set but that entails burning custom mixes onto CDs, and I just wanted something I can stream wirelessly with, and my living room isn't that huge so I think the sounddock should have enough juice to piss of my neighbors.

Alternately, this post should be in the "First World Problems" thread: "Vintage speakers/tuner too inconvenient. Getting wireless Bose."

This is my weakest link. I want to step up my amp in the future, and with it perhaps a better pair of speakers. But man those Missions are sweet.

Throw on some 180gram vinyl and kick back in my listening chair with a scotch. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Audio is a process, one that will stick with you for life. It seems to be more of an evolution. Part of its money as well, as the salesman I use sells $100,000 systems to Chinese kids on the regular as well.

But most people start out and adapt their taste as time goes on. I cant even begin to understand the depth of knowledge these guys have. But most of them have been in this for life.

@Laner - nice setup and it use to be a serious weakness of mine. I love all those tube amps, a few friends of mine have Macintosh's (sp).

2013 Fender American Vintage 1959 Stratocaster.

Fender has its ups and downs as a company, but right now they are making really incredible guitars. I owned an original mint condition REAL Pre-CBS Fender Stratocaster about ten years ago and it was the best guitar I have ever played in my life. This reissue is extremely close. The reason I got this one is because Fender reissued the 58-59 "D" shaped neck that they only did those two years. I have small hands so this neck is perfect for me and when I saw that they were making the "D" necks I bought one the next day. I'm very impressed with this reissue.

Been back in the US for nearly a year working a decently paid gig and made the following "big ticket" purchases during that time:

A 2001 Corolla
A Nikon D3100 DSLR camera
A $250 kayak
A $1300 bolt action rifle (rifle + scope)
Some decent winter expedition clothing totaling maybe $500

The purchases giving me the most satisfaction right now are the ones I didn't make. Damn it feels good to have money in the bank. Asia, here I come again!

I got a Bonavita Coffee maker recently. I used to use an aeropress but in the morning before work, I'm a little lazy to do all the steps to brew it correctly. This is a little more automated and idiot proof. Its been great, very good tasting coffee and easy to do.
