RE: Recent Purchases Thread
In the past two months I've bought more for myself than I can ever remember.

The important ones:
One-way plane ticket to Vietnam.
1 pair of Clark's desert boots in beeswax, 1 pair brown Sperry topsiders, 1 pair of custom black and gray Chucks, walnut Allen Edmond McCallister wingtips.
Double-edged safety razor.
Bragg's.
Baking soda, but not for baking.

The forum has worn off on me.

Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.

RE: Recent Purchases Thread
I haven't really bought myself anything 'cool' recently. I like to pack light, if I wanted to get up and move somewhere halfway across the world I wouldn't want to have to spend months selling my stuff or trying to pack it up and move it. I own a TV, and a bed, and a lot of books. Everything else can be packed into a few suitcases and out of the country tomorrow.

I try to spend a lot of my disposable income on experiences rather than things. I probably spend more money than I should in bars. I have a few club memberships that I get a lot of use out of. I go out for dinner relatively frequently.

Some of the things I have bought recently:

A pair of Ray Ban Clubmasters. Fantastic glasses.

A new wallet, bought it at Brooks Brothers, very slim, just for cards basically.

A case of Heineken. Nobody complains about Heineken, and it's really not that much more expensive than Budweiser.

A bottle of Stoli. Stoli I find is a better tasting vodka than Grey Goose, it's cheaper (at least where I am) and thus I buy it. Girls seem to prefer Grey Goose, and if they want to come stock my bar, they're more than welcome to and I'll serve them whatever they want when they come over. Stoli for me.

Great thread, gotta get caught up. In the last few months, I've spent some HSA money on prescription Oliver Peoples sunglasses and eyeglasses, Picked up some Ferregamo Chukkas on Ebay, some Billy Reid chinos, AG jeans and cords, Tods red leather braided bracelet, Taetossian necklace, and Thompson of London bracelet. Buying things on eBay has to be one of the best things ever. It's so easy to get damn near brand new Italian/English made shoes in excellent condition for 20-25% of retail if you're willing to wait and snipe the auctions at the end.

Just put Stoli in the GG bottle. I guarantee you most girls can't tell the difference. I used to do replace top shelf whiskey with decent but cheaper substitutes to serve to casual acquaintences and business associates.

I would have a decanter of the actual top shelf stuff for close personal friends/family only. It seems like a ghetto move but offering liquor is just social etiquette it doesn't mean you have to spend lots of money doing it.

A pair of Dita Mach-One for this summer.

http://www.ditalegends.com/product_detai...lor_id=999

Not cheap at 660 €, but worth it. Highest quality and exclusivity. Dita is fast becoming one of the top luxury eyewear brands in the world.

Mission 732 speakers- Made in England.

Custom hand made speaker stands. Never knew what a difference this made.

Technics SL-1600 turntable.

Akai am-u22 amp.
[Image: akai_am-u22_stereo_integrated_amplifier.jpg]
This is my weakest link. I want to step up my amp in the future, and with it perhaps a better pair of speakers. But man those Missions are sweet.

Throw on some 180gram vinyl and kick back in my listening chair with a scotch. Never fails to put a smile on my face.

Audio is a process, one that will stick with you for life. It seems to be more of an evolution. Part of its money as well, as the salesman I use sells $100,000 systems to Chinese kids on the regular as well.

But most people start out and adapt their taste as time goes on. I cant even begin to understand the depth of knowledge these guys have. But most of them have been in this for life.

Best cartridge ever!

I've never tried wax earplugs like those though. I know that normal foam earplugs distort the sound quite much. I use silicon earplugs which don't distort the music that much and you can also more easily hear what someone is saying.

Huge and great for long trips. Granted, a bit expensive, but worth it to travel with style.

Nike Skateboarding clothes are pretty awesome. They are built extremely well, lightweight and handle a sweaty bastard well(thats me). I bought a few things and I would recommend them if you like hip activewear that is stretchy and not 100% cotton. You can find them at Nike stores or buy online.

Tip: when the battery goes out, buy a cheap generic one from amazon or ebay, it works the same as their overpriced "official" batteries. My 4 year old white Discovery still works.

I've just stuck with K2s most of my life, brand loyalty I guess. They have a couple models that are way more parabolic but I don't like to go too crazy with that as I'm kind of a speed demon.

I want a bluetooth sound system, preferably a sound bar. Sonos has one but its $700. I dont need whole house.

I dont watch a lot of TV, but I want to listen to music more. Vizio has this one that is Bluetooth that gets a lot of good reviews, and costs a lot less,

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CDIK908/ref=...aba2c9cbda

Any recommendations here? I want the heavy amp'd sound of a good receiver if possible, because I like radio.

RE: Recent Purchases Thread
Buy one of these and attach it to the line input of your already boss sound system:

[Image: usb-bluetooth-wireless-3-5mm-stereo-musi...ales@1.jpg]

I also have these in my vehicles, wired to the 12V key-on power and auto connects to the phone.

Technically the lossy codec used with Bluetooth will degrade the sound somewhat, but on the road it's hard to notice. There are dongles that use lossless or very high quality codecs, however this requires both ends be compatible which can be difficult.
