Maintaining emotional discipline?
Game is emotionally taxing and rewarding at the same time. Of course the first commandment in game is to "not give a fuck and don't invest emotionally". As true as this may sound, I'm having a bit of trouble maintaining emotional control over my game.

There are down periods in game that usually follow directly after "up" periods. You meet some girls, have great first dates, but after that things go stagnant, sometimes with multiple girls at once. This is very common when you are starting out or are making progress.

As much as I try to, these down periods still get to me. Just like when you have a bad week at work/school etc., you need to take a break and chill or develop a coping strategy. Especially with game I feel like you must stay discipline. The more obstacles you encounter, the closer you are to hitting an important mark.

How do I not let the bad days/weeks get into my head? The frustration sometimes keep me up at night, and it shows up when I'm out gaming again. Especially when I feel like I've done everything I could and nothing work. Should I take a period off of game for a while? I'm afraid this will get me lazy and give up.

Meditation is an fairly reliable way to clear your mind. It's also practicing 'keeping frame' or maintaining a particular mindset like we must with game to effectively reduce or remove emotion.

Not a bad idea. I need to learn meditation as part of my Aikido training anyway, so now it's as good as ever.

Take a few "steps back", look at the situation and make sure it's framed the way you want it to be.

If it's not, there's another ~3.5 billion vaginas out there.

RE: Maintaining emotional discipline?
Don't contact your prospects when you are in a bad mood - your feelings of dread will leak into the text messages.

Go for a walk or lift weights or read a book before you text them back.

Revisit your mental state. Remember that if all of your prospects stopped texting you and you never contacted them again, your life would go on and you wouldn't be affected in the least.

To have an unshakable mental state, you need to accept that a prospect may never contact you ever again. The next text you send them could go unreturned. The date you are on could go sour and she could throw her drink all over you and storm out of the bar. If these things happen to you, you have to be able to shrug and chuckle to yourself.

When you have the attitude of "Que sera, sera," the tone of your text messages changes. The tension at the first date dissipates and you are more relaxed and smoother.

If you dread one of your prospects leaving you, it might mean that you are seeking validation in the girls. Girls will smell this out. It can come across as too desperately trying to set up a first date without any back and forth chatting, or too desperately trying to bounce her to your apartment when you both have work the next day at 8am.
