Whats up Rooshers.

As I stated I just bought a Kindle Paperwhite. I have really really been slacking on reading books (other then BANG) in my life and I'm looking to change that. Would love some good book recommendations, every other lifestyle recommendations I have gotten from the forum has been golden so I have faith in book recommended by the community. I am interested in any books about bettering my lifestyle, living in the moment, self confidence, bodybuilding, game, travel, even some good books on BDSM if anyone knows of any. I am not as interested in books on financial success.. Maybe just if there's one really worth a read.

I also have a question about the Kindle. Is there a way to pirate some things on PDF and convert them to my kindle? I have seen bits and pieces of it being mentioned but no real details. I will still buy some books but for some not available or that I just want to proof read I would try and pirate them maybe.

A useful and free program to download is calibre:

http://calibre-ebook.com/

It allows you to convert ePub, .pdf, and other book formats to .mobi so that you can read them on your kindle. Sometimes they don't always turn out well, but by tinkering with the conversion on the program you should be able to figure out how to fix any mistakes. I've used that program to convert a lot of ePub books and it's very handy.

As for pirating, I won't give specific links but yes, it is easy to find not only pdf files, but in many cases also .mobi files that are ready to put on your kindle. Simply add ".mobi" or "kindle" to whatever book you're searching for and if you're lucky or it's a popular book you should be able to find it.

Another tip: to easily transfer files from computer to kindle just email them. You should have a specific @kindle.com email address that comes with your kindle. Just attach a .mobi file to an email (no subject or message required), email it to your kindle address, connect to wifi and there you go. You can even convert files through the email method by writing "convert" in the subject line of the email. But generally Calibre will do a better job converting.

Kindle has been a game-changer for me. Thousands of books at the tip of my fingers, I'll even download the kindle version instead of reading a handheld version of a book I own. Plus no one can see what you're reading.

48 Laws of Power is a good one for game/business/everything. I just finished reading Bribes, Lies and the Art of Extreme Tourism and Lost on Planet China, which are interesting travel memoirs even though I wouldn't consider them red pill. If you are interested in good fiction, I recommend Last of the Mohicans, The Brothers Karamazov, basically anything you can find on Barnes and Nobles' classics series. Self-improvement is well and good, but there is something to be said about reading one of these classics as well.

As for self improvement, I can't recommend enough How to Win Friends and Influence People. There is a more modern version available with examples from the digital age. Skip The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Listening to that guy talk about marriage and shit for ten pages made it impossible to get through for me.

One sneaky trick to use with Calibre.

Buy a Kindle book from Amazon and have it delivered through their Whispernet. Connect the kindle to your computer, and transfer the book to it. Disconnect the kindle, go to amazon, and ask for a refund on the book; They will remove the book from your kindle the same way they add it through Whispernet. Now you just need to connect the book to the computer and add it through calibre. Voilà, 'free' books.

Edit: I should add that I don't do it myself, but found this trick by accident a while back

Thanks for the responses. Lots of good info on ways to get books to my Kindle on here.

An thanks for the book recommendations Sweet Pea, some of those were on my radar before so now I will def check them out. An I do plan on switching it up and reading some classics as well... Like I said I been slacking on my book reading pretty much all my life so I missed out on a lot... but I'm gonna make up for it with this kindle!

Just remembered, one of the most entertaining books I have read is Arabian Nights. Sadly I lost my paperback so I have no idea which page I'm on, which has stopped meb from picking it back up.

So the main way I get ebooks is from my local library. Yea really..

So where I am if you have a library code you can use the code to access a certain website that has a ton of ebooks. I then just send it to my amazon account and it goes right to my kindle. Check to see if your area has something similar.

I have herd about this. My local library does provide this service. Do you have to return the Ebooks within a certain time?
Sounds like a great way to get books I am just not sure how well its gonna work once I start traveling.

One more- if you love dogs, there is a really interesting book called Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz. It tries to address how dogs perceive the world and how that shapes their interactions with humans. Actually, if anyone knows other great books on dogs, let me know.

+Rep for that post. I went to buy the first book I wanted to put on my kindle and it was not on Amazon. Took the steps you listed and downloaded Calibre and got the book on my kindle for free!

Amazon has a ton of free books, most of the classics. If you need to catch up on your classics reading, do it now before you fill it up. I have 100's of books now on my kindle, and I use my laptop, kindle, tablet and iphone to read on, the Kindle reader is basically on every device now. Happy to hear libraries have kept up with the trend as well.

I know it's not what you really wanted to read, but the one book you need on financial matters - The Pimp Game by Mickey Royal. You'll never look at any business you walk into the same way again. If you read only one book on money, read this one.

Antonio Centeno has some awesome ebooks on men's fashion. His website has a free ebook as a starter guide that's actually worth a look. His email list regularly has pdfs you can open on your kindle that are worth a read, as well.

Other than that, browse the various ebook sites around. Look up things that interest you. It's a brave new world.

Yea for me it's 2 weeks, and then as soon as the kindle connects to a network it returns it. I think it should work from anywhere, might as well give it a try as it's free.

This is what I do as well. Really any book over 100 years old should have at least one free version available on Amazon.

I think you can get most books from torrebts. My girls bro in law added tons to her kindle fire ill ask him where he gets them but im pretty sure torrents

Thanks for that heads up. Cause I tried downloading 3 other books from the current torrent site I use and non of them seemed to be something I could convert on calibre. So out of the four I tried to get I was only able to put one on my kindle.
