HI all.

As many of you know I mainly post in the Everything Else & Knowledge/Book forum. I mostly lurk on the game forum due to being married and not having much to say on many of the subjects.

I was recently reading somewhere - I think it was return of kings about pauses in the conversation.

It made me remember something that happened at a friend's BBQ a couple years ago. I'm chatting with various people, and end up talking to this woman. The conversation went ok, not great. I actually hit a point where I had no idea what else to say to drive the conversation forward.

Since I'm married and all, I didn't really see the point of carrying a dead conversation with a moderately attractive woman. So I just stopped talking. I made some kind of small comment and stared off a bit and let her figure out what to say next. I think I may have gotten some more food.

I figured since I was no longer carrying the convo, she'd lose interest. Instead, she got SUPER interested. This is despite me mentioning I'm married with two kids.

I see her a year later at another BBQ... She's STILL interested in me. Responded to a bit of mild game very positively. No, didn't bang, being married and all... But could never figure out what I did so successfully.

So after reading a ROK article (something somehwere) where they mentioned strategic uses of pauses it kind of clicked. Anyone else know how this is formally defined in game terms??

I think what I did was bit of outcome independence, but not sure what else.

I suspect what happened is she noticed your "distance" a.k.a "transcendence" which are masculine attributes. The feminine is always attracted to men that are transcendent. Their agenda is then to break down a man's transendence and bring him into imminence a.k.a feeling which is the feminine . They have many tools at their disposal, sexuality, teasing, drama, good cooking, etc.

Paradoxically, if she feels she is truly successful in breaking a man down she loses all respect for him and is no longer interested.

Symbolically, a married Father who is standing like an Oak will project masculinity. So what you did was be a man, not giving into the siren song. That's why she ran over to you the second time so quickly singing.
