Fuck me, episode 9 was epic.

Without wanting to give away any spoilers, I'm tipping it was the most expensive episode to produce thus far.

I can hardly imagine anything being more expensive to produce than the Battle of Blackwater, but I look forward to seeing it!

RE: Games Of Thrones : Season 4
There is something special about a show like this where you can tell that everyone involved really is trying to make it the best it can be.

The huge, long form that they are doing.. drawing this giant thing out over the course of several seasons.. it really can't be replicated in the typical two hour movie.

I think that they've been laying low on all the action in the last several shows so that they could focus their budget on this last one. It wouldn't make sense to do a lot of semi-big scale productions as opposed to one giant one (in one location)- cost too much money and they wouldn't be able to get a big payoff.

Anyone hasn't seen this show should really watch it from the beginning. As entertaining as it is, it's not really the type of thing that would have as much power if you just turn on an episode.

If there ever was a good use for the over-used word, "epic" it would be to describe this show.

Really liked the fight. I really cared for the characters and when the giant shoot his arrow, I was like "holy shit they are strong" which made even more cautious for the battle. At first I really thought that they had no chance in hell.

No Lotr movie or similar war sword fight movie has given similar feelings.

When I saw that old bald coward hide in that cellar, I was expecting him to rape the wilding to make him look even worse.

That was my favorite episode thus far. Absolutely incredible. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

I accidentally read a spoiler of what is about to occur with the Tyrion situation and it should be mind-blowing. Can't wait for the finale.

Oh shit. The difference made by makeup and all that... I would WRECK Rose Leslie, I wouldn't touch Ygritte.

This is my first time hearing GRRM speak ... And for such a burly guy, he sure as hell has a pathetic, nasally voice. Sort of confirms his betatude/blue pill ideology.

FWIW I've read all of the books and I think this series is mediocre. It amuses me how wrapped up in this whole series everyone is now that it's on HBO. I guess we can only hope that the HBO guys finish out the story [somehow] because GRRM has no clue where he's going with it.

I know. AH! These faux-northern accents grate on me. If they're going to go with regional accents, at least go with some nice/funny ones like Welsh or Cornish.

I think this was the first episode that focused on only one storyline.

My only criticism of the last episode was the lack of helmets. I could see the wildlings not having any, but surely in all the years the Night's Watch had been up there, wouldn't they have acquired some decent head protection? But I guess helmets make it hard for the target audience to spot their favorite actors.

I enjoyed the way they made two giants and a mammoth seem as frightening as they would be in real life, resisting the urge to manufacture rows of them with CGI only for them to prove to be cream puffs. Peter Jackson take note.

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

They got too comfortable over hundreds of years of no adversity. They are like the millenials of Westeros.. completely safe in their, albeit cold and sexless, sanctuary.

I like this show, but the CGI is kind of bad sometimes. Like when you first see the mammoth's foot.. it looks like it isn't part of the same world as everything else in the shot.

I don't understand why they can't get CGI right yet.

All they needed to do was darken the foot as if it was in shadows, because that's what it would really look like if it was filmed in real life.

There's too much of everything needing to be visible in modern movies.

Back before CGI took off, you'd have real shadows casting things in darkness. Now everything looks too much like a "toy-story" version of Roger Rabbit where animation interacts with actual footage and it's terrible.

At least they are making the new "Star-Wars" with puppets.

I am the only one that found this episode anti-climatic

As soon as I realised the whole episode was at the wall you knew either Jon Snow or Ygritte or both were gonna die.
