His face will be leaner and more defined, so he will be possibly 1 or 2 points higher /10 on facial attractiveness. 16% BF guy is unlikely to be showing lots of tone or vascularity, will just look 'big'.

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh, but I'd like to hear other's opinions on this.

Excuse my french but I used to read those 2 words (Ripped & Jacked) each time thinking they meant the same things.

Can someone explain the difference briefly ?

People have different definitions for the two terms but I would say the most common thought is:

Ripped = Slim, toned muscles, low body fat, but not overly big. These are the types of guys who look in good shape with a shirt on but significantly better without a shirt on. Think Ronaldo.

Jacked = Bigger, a lot of muscle mass but more of a bubble look. These are the types of guys who you can tell spend a lot of time in the gym even with a shirt on. Think Vin Diesel.

I used to think they were the same, but I got the impression that recently that ripped meant low body fat, and jacked meant much larger than average muscle size. Correct me if this is wrong.

I would say speaking from someone who is at 5'8 you dont want to be low body fat and "ripped". You will have no physical presence whatsoever, you need something in compensation, and to those girls who really get off on the physical dominance play I'd consider putting on some weight.

That said I've been at both ends of the spectrum, I shift between gymnastics/calisthenics and powerlifting where I bulk for powerlifting and cut for bodyweight stuff. I've never noticed much a difference in general attention from women at either end, but being bigger at least you will attract women you might not have been able to at a lower BF %.

Remember this is mainly from the perspective of a relatively short person.

I second Brits' comment. Even if I 10lbs heavier bulked when I drop the BF and get vascular and cut I get noticed much more. Even called out. I just wish I could stay at 195lbs while maintaining my ripped-ness - hard one to solve.
