It might be satire but I think it says enough when a jewish author and a black chair of afro american studies can celebrate a book that says that the irish rose to acceptance on the backs of other minorities.

I'd love to read it but the summary and comments come across as "oh the irish never had it that hard because of their skin colour"

Can you imagine an irish american writing a book that says "oh slavery wasn't so hard for black americans". Neither can I, and thats the state of affairs in north america.

His journal, Race Traitor, hasn't published anything since 2005.

What the satirists have done is take some crazy person from the turn of the century who was controversial to begin but who had since long faded from relevance, dig him out, and make him humorously extreme.

It's clear that this guy made an academic career out of trolling, which the OP's article is making fun of.

Most people are cool and rational, chill motherfuckers, great to have a beer with. They just want to enjoy life, be happy, bang hotties, make money.

Unfortunately, the more extreme ones tend to be the loudest, therefore making discourse more difficult than it should be. They fuck it up for the rest of the normal people.

They're the people that post 50 troll comments on news articles, they respond to every little comment with anger, and they circle jerk incessantly. They actually stifle and bog down debates. Eventually rational people turn off the computer or walk away from the conversation and go on with their lives while loud trolls troll on.

Politics is like that, most people are centre; left or right. Then you have the far left and far right, which is 2 extremes of the same coin.

As I have gotten older and more politically aware, I've started to appreciate the modern western republic and how much it can naturally self moderate to make sure the loudest on either side of the isle don't totally hijack the conversation politically and ruin everything...for everyone. Think communists, fascists, warlords, dictators, cults.

2 Examples: If the far left group gets into power, and tried to 'nationalize' massive swathes of the economy, they'll have to jump through a congress (or parliament in westminster style system), courts, senates, it has to be constitutionally ratified, etc. You can't do a Lenin/Stalin/Hitler style power grab. Push too far, there will be pushback, peacefully.

Say on the other hand a far right nationalist group takes over. Let's say it tried to take away people's votes, or marginalize a group, minority or a majority alike, they'll be stifled by the checks and balances. The whole system is like a social glue that moderates extremes.

This is a brilliant system, no system is more effective in preventing bloodshed and stupidity 3rd world style.

Think of how the US dealt with civil rights, versus how Russia dealt with it's minority groups in the mid century. One had peaceful marches, Brown vs Board of Education, the civil rights legislation. The other, Holodomor, Gulags, Kulaks, Katyn Massacre.

Ivory tower lefty academics, and dudes with fascist tendencies and aspirations alike are being moderated.

The west isn't falling apart, it's exporting a successful political model, the rest of the world is becoming more like the west, thus creating the perception that we're in decline.

The Katyn Massacre was the mass execution of the Polish political, military, intellectual, and spiritual leadership by an occupation force. I fail to see how a war crime is related to a country's political system. I could also mention Hamburg, Dresden, Hiroshima, Nagasaki to attack the American political system. War is about unleashing violence to transfer political power, it is not about good versus evil.

Sorry, but I think you're way off here. The far left cultural Marxists have had massive success since the 1960's- they adopted a Fabian strategy that gamed the system and they did it to perfection.

The most successful aspect of the post-Enlightenment model of governance is that it convinces those that have fundamentally no power that they actually matter. Because this belief exists, there is less civil unrest, because generally people will only do that stuff if they have no choice. This is something I call the "soft police state."

The system has had some success, and made good strides towards freedom in certain areas, but it has decayed very quickly as well, highlighting its supreme weaknesses.

No, I'm glad you posted it.

It's an important post because we're always talking about how higher education is useless if not outright harmful and this exposes that. It's almost as if this guy was a comedian satirizing the absolute worst excesses of academia.

Parents are paying for this. They should know that. Alumni are donating to support this guy. The more this gets out, the more they'll open their eyes.

Fellows are people that are supported on fellowships. They are not professors, not graduate students. Rather by definition, they are scholars whose primary goal is to do research. Fellowships are not funded by parents, but by endowments. Endowments are typically multimillion dollars funds, donated by typically 1 or 2 alumni.

That being said, even if all this crap was true and not satire, do you think parents would give a fuck? Their kids are going to Harvard, they're not going to pull their kids out and complain like hell about one wacky dude. Every top school has its own crazy people. Parents that can afford to send their kids to these schools are typically highly educated themselves and are aware of this fact. They don't give a shit, they're sending their kids to these schools for their reputation, not the quality.
