How many of you guys smuggle booze into venues?
Honest question:

The rip off factor at bars is beginning to kill me and since winter is setting in I've been tempted to buy a flask to bring in my own booze to spike soda.

Any of you guys utilize a flask or smuggle beer into an establishment?

Vodka or rum in a water bottle is my go to move.

Bring a couple of minis with you. Easy to store and even easier to get rid of. Plus if someone stops you, you can validate with "I didn't even realize I still had these from earlier on in the night"

A flask is cool if you are wearing a blazer, but in a packed place it'll stand out. The little bottles can be concealed inside your palm.

You have to ask yourself:

Why are you going out?

Are you going out to get laid?

Are you going out to get drunk?

Are you going out to drink with the hope of "getting lucky"?

What's the point of going out?

Why not just drink at home?

Soup - they're smuggling liquid courage. A flask of anti-approach anxiety medicine.

An elixir that makes them more aggressive.

I see nothing wrong with this.

The vast majority of my same nights, I'm at least seriously buzzed.

When I drank, yes. I have plenty of money but why waste it?

Buy these. Go search on Amazon: 8oz Hip Stainless Flask Set of 6

You can get 6 for around $14. They are very slim and discrete.

If you lose one or more or get them confiscated, who cares? They are less than 3 bucks each.

Note that the mouth on these are really small. Get a small funnel or else getting vodka in there is a real pain in the ass.

RE: How many of you guys smuggle booze into venues?
A good trick that you can apply in large clubs with more than one bar is the following:

1 - Bring some little bottles filled with the spirit you like (hidden in your jacket's pockets);

2 - Order a glass of water (or if you're really hardcore, pick one that is left and wash it at the bathroom) and ensure it becomes empty;

3 - Go to the bathroom, close your self in one of the stalls and fill it with the spirit;

4 - Go to another bar and ask for some ice for the drink (always worked with me). If you want to be more adventurous, say that "the drink you guys served is too strong for me, please add some coke otherwise I can't drink it."

This usually works in my country, since the ice and additional juice/coke/water in spirit drinks is for free.

The downside is that the act of drinking becomes less spontaneous, and you are focused in this scheme, instead of dedicating full attention to the girls. You should also not exagerate: more than one attempt per bar and it already becomes very risky.

Beers are $9 at concert venues around my way. There's a lounge that I frequent ...drinks are $3 until 11 then they go to $9.

Thanks for this, I use flasks but they do get lost/confiscated often and they cost around 10 per flask. This is an investment that could save someone into the thousands yearly. Just another way to stay ahead of the game.

I have friends that blow over 50/night. People just get a rush from blowing money it's ridiculous.

^ You're welcome.

Another trick: When you're outside smoking with a girl, bust out the flask. Take a swig and offer her some.

Good way to build trust (if she drinks it, she trusts you enough to know you're not trying to roofie her) and a sneaky way to "buy" her a drink without actually buying her a drink.

Flask Game.

RE: How many of you guys smuggle booze into venues?
For me it depends on where I am in the world. In big cities like London, Barcelona, Madrid, or Paris not bringing a flask is foolish as your wallet is being raped by overpriced drinks in clubs. If I'm in a smaller city, I tend not to bring a flask as drinks are more fairly priced, although if it is a long walk to the bars/clubs or we have a long taxi ride, I'll bring a flask for the journey. One place I would be hesitant to bring flasks is in the USA due to the harsh (and IMO ridiculous) open container laws that they have. A couple buddies of mine have been fucked over by the cops in the states for having flasks in their pockets even while walking around. Overall though I would say sneaking alcohol in is economical and recommended especially for younger people who wanna save cash.

Even easier is to just order a ginger ale or coke solo and say you're the DD for the night.

Get a glass of soda, drink 3/4 or half of it. Refresh with your spirit of choice.

Ironically, in my home town I can get beers for 3-5$. Well beers like Yuengling, Bud, and the like but I can justify the price and will patronize the venue.

Anything above that is a rip off though.

Honest question and I'll give an honest answer:

I'm cheap and have an entitlement attitude that says, "Your venue is not worth the amount of money I am going to pay for a beverage." No further justification than that Smile

Now, there are places where I am willing to pay the beverage prices. Upscale, classy places where the music isn't booming and I can flirt with girls indirectly which is more of my style. I don't need to get drunk or buzzed at these places because I can rely on my social strengths. If I have to go caveman because the music is too loud than I better have cheap beverages to fuel it.

Is it hypocritical? Yeah totally, but hey we're all human.

Has any of my advice ever been "ghetto as fuck"? If anything I used to be called elitist.

It works if you're a cool guy who casually pulls it out while outside smoking.

Which means it probably won't work for you.

HA, used to do this in SF. Id bring a full water bottle of vodka into the venues and pass it among all my buddies- big black dude, me, tall ripped white dude. Its obvious what you are doing, and id always offer to girls. They usually pass because its "too strong".

The girls who do take a swig are troopers and are down for crazy ridiculous stunts... Its always funny when a girl accuses you of drinking water, then takes a swig and scrunches her face. hahaha.

Just my 2c.

Calling Hotwheels.

If you find that drinks are too expensive, move to Wisconsin. Most places free pour liqour into drinks that would be considered Doubles in Canada and they are almost always dirt cheap. My favourite place in Madison had a "happy hour" with $1 drinks. I say "happy hour" because it ran from 11am to 7pm.

When I bring a flask around I tend to get too drunk. I have a regular sized and mini flask. Mini is safer.

I usually get pretty tipsy during pre-gaming with friends, then chase it off with a beer or a drink. But I try to go out gaming sober. It's better that way. If i drink, i tend to drink-drink for point of drinking.

If you go out trying to meet girls sober, first few nights it's hard, but then you get used to it. Then your game becomes stronger. But that's just me.

I'm in Kharkiv, UA through summer 2014. If you want to wing, PM me. I speak fluent English and Russian.

I'm surrounded by free booze constantly because I work as a musician. I find myself trying to not drink more often than the reverse. For me, beer is the way to go when I'm out. I tend to get into trouble when I drink a lot of hard liquor. If you are like me, then a flask would probably work against you. Beer slows down the inebriation process in comparison, and I my game won't get as sloppy.

Also I can feel the muscles around my liver pulsating the next day if I drink to much. I'd rather avoid getting cirrhosis if I can. Also don't want to get into anymore fights on the street, trouble with the cops, or getting banned from usual haunts.

You can say I don't have self control, but I think it's important for a man to know his limits.

It's much better to have a place on lock down. Then there's no need to pay exhorbitant drink prices and the first rate service you get (and social proof) is well worth the reasonable prices (when you're getting hooked up).

Doing anything that the owner's of a place would frown upon (or may be illegal in your area) is all about being discreet. As others have said, if you just say you're the DD and order a soda, many places will not charge you or charge you a minimal amount for it (and many times will give it to you in a tall glass). Take that to a STALL in the bathroom and pour your flask (no cameras and near impossible for someone to know what you're doing).

I wear jeans quite a bit when I go out and I've got a bunch of those plastic dispos-a-flasks that fit perfect in the back pocket without the top sticking out. Don't be obvious, don't take one into a place that is patting people down, and don't get completely hammered.

If you act like an idiot and get caught, I have no pity for you. Pre-partying as others have suggested is a good idea, but the problem with that is if you take a bunch of shots and then go to a bar, you're more likely to say "fuck it" and buy more overpriced drinks or you may just end up too drunk too fast.

I don't know. I don't read your stuff on here.

In my opinion being an elitist would be more along the lines of the owner of the bar buying you a drink or comping your bar tab.
Smuggling booze into a bar is a good way to get bounced out and have your rep tarnished.

For me booze is social. Almost everytime if pregamed at home I've gotten into trouble or didn't get laid.

I have player friends who just show up and pull girls with dancefloor game and they rarely ever drink at the venue
