RE: Living in Manila...
Yeah, mine has been slow, too. But is there really a way around that, as in another faster option that won't ever go down? I think the current outages are more an example of the less than ideal infrastructure of the Phils than an indictment of a particular hotel's internet speeds.

EDIT: I was just talking to a girl about it and she said the only way to get a consistent connection is with a wired connection, which would require installation and a contract. So I stand corrected about how easy it is to get set up with good speeds here.

RE: Living in Manila...
if things are performing as they should a temporary device would work quite well and cheaply, but infrastructure wise, the PI isn't there yet. SMART was down for like 72 hours. In the USA, for example, mass revolution would take place if internet was down for three days, here its just part of "Dude, you're in the Philippines. Go get laid instead."

Yeah, fortunately I can still work with a slower connection, it just makes things take a little longer. Plus, there's always internet cafes and three malls with coffee shops minutes away.

Does Manila have shops like Uniqlo, Zara and Massimo Dutti? Is there tailors all over like here in Bkk?

I've seen Zara and Uniqlo. The last brand I don't know, so I might have passed it without noticing. Greenbelt has a lot of western brands.

Can you find Cialis and Viagra in Manila from street vendors like you can in Bangkok?

Hey Rio,

Yes. Zara and Massimo Dutti, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, etc, etc, etc

Doesn't seem to matter whether you are in LA or Kiev or Manila.

Teddy, the sexpat area around the north end of Makati Ave/ P Burgos near the Grammercy has lots of guys trying to sell you Cialis, etc. Never tried it, so I don't know if it's genuine.

I've seen all the major brands in Greenbelt, but at least for the clothes I looked at, the same stuff was cheaper to buy in the US from the same store.

The Cialis is real at least some of the time. It's not cheaper on the street than it is on the drugstore unless you bargain them down. There is also andros which some people prefer.

RE: Living in Manila...
The hidden war.

My 2 main girls have a secret war going on. They are purposefully leaving clues for the other girl to find.

These include writing their names in the dust on furniture. Putting hand prints on windows, furniture, and mirrors. Leaving hair pins, fake eye lashes, makeup brushes, etc... One girl takes a pen and tries to be sly about writing her name on any piece of paper laying around. I noticed the other girl had sprayed perfume on my towels. These girls are getting more clever each time.

I feel a bit like a detective walking through my condo looking for any signs of any markings or what they might have left behind.

Both are aware I see other girls. But I have concluded it is much easier to spend 10 minutes searching and cleaning up any thing than to deal with the few minutes of drama that come when they find things.

The hidden war continues...

Hilarious hah. I've had girls leave hair ties, clothes and jewelry behind on purpose, but it never got that deep. Writing their names around the house is great.

Cialis has been working good for me. Can you get without prescription?
If not, how easy is it to get an RX

don't need a scrip, certainly not for the guys selling on the street. and not at mercury drugstores either. they have 25,50,and 100 mg doses so look up what u take/need before going. same price, though so best to buy the 100mg, and break them.

Cockfights

Midget Boxing

Riding Jeepneys

Eating Balut

Visit Payatas

And of course visit the markets

Anything else you guys have done in Manila that you would suggest?

I really hate the way I spent a lot of my time in Thailand and wish I would've gotten out and did more adventurous sightseeing. Don't get me wrong I love chasing tail but I have a lot of fond memories of when I was a dumb beta and was more into this kind of stuff.

Decided to be open minded and take some people up on their couchsurfing offers to host/hang out. I was reading one cute girls reviews and some of the reviewers use "her" and some use "him"....hmmmm

One thing the Phil does not have is H&M, or american apparel, not sure about Bangkok, but Hong Kong has those.

Phil has Zara, Uniqlo, Bershka, Topman, Penguin, and Plus, which are pretty good.

Intramuros, including San Augustin church and the museum attached and Fort Santiago at the river end. The San Agustin museum is interesting with regard to the long Spanish colonization, the artifacts are similar to Latin American ones.

There's a little museum in Ortigas next to the stock exchange, the Lopez Museum. It has some art but best is a collection of old stories from Harper's Magazine chronicling the American occupation and colonization.

Next time I'm there I want to visit the National Museum in Rizal Park and the U.S. military cemetery near Fort Bonifacio. I like reading war gravestones - the names, dates of death and the military units are interesting.

Fuck, I don't even think they carry it here. Mercury Drug didn't have it. I'm wondering if they'd seize it if I have it mailed to me.

I met up with Fox yesterday and T-Mac is in Manila now too. I'm off the Cebu in the morning, but there's been some informal discussion of a meet up of some kind today. Is anyone else around/down?

Would I be crazy if I wore a pair of boots to Manila?

http://www.shoebuy.com/gbx-09131/658810/...-{keyword}

And then instead of flip flops I'm thinking about just bringing some tevas

I'm wearing my pair of jeans on the flight and then packing one pair of blue khakis and my boardshorts.
