I've noticed a few hipster sub groups in my area, there are "hippy hipsters" that tend to trend a little more hippy, there are "skater/punk hipsters" who tend to have more tats and more punkish appearance, and then your more mainstream classic style hipster which I classify as "emo hipster."

All the sub groups seem to have their more specific tight knit little crews, but still know, acknowledge, and are cool with the other sub groups, and often come together to form a massive hipster crew when they cross paths, which tends to happen a lot when they all drink at the same bar, hang out at the juice shop, etc.

Maybe I shouldn't admit this but I probably look kind of hipster right now (30%). I'm definitely in need of a haircut and have grown out my beard. I do own some 1950s glasses but haven't worn them in months... All I need is to put those on and buy a shemagh or scarf and the look will be there. As O&A said, you need two weird things in your outfit.

I don't have the progressive politics or attitude, though. I'm anti-tattoo. Can't fit in skinny jeans either.

Thank you, I completely agree. One glance at her body language and you can see this girl is very insecure. The expression on her face means nothing. I feel badly for her, but she'll outgrow it in a few years.

I think I figured out why the gripe with hipsters here. Hipsters are often people who are trying hard to be cool and aren't good at it. They might take up annoying attitudes to disguise their bad attempts at being cool. This is obviously lame and disingenuous. But, I'm sure it works on some stupid girls.

That said, there are guys who dress weird and get a lot of pussy, and instead of hating them, we should try to figure out what they are doing.
