Could not agree more. Watching hipsters evolve their fashion sense (a 2008 hipster is different from a 2013 hipster) is basically like watching a teenager struggle with their sexuality. The mid-aut hipsters were practically defined by their asexuality. Now that they've realized there's good reason for some gender differentiation they've found accessories from eras past that they can clip (or grow) on. A dude with his own sense of masculinity that doesn't depend on ridiculous facial hair, suspenders, and shaving with a straight edge razor can clean up. Authenticity always wins.

The worst are DAD hipsters whom I'm forced to interact with sometimes. They all brag about how much their 4 year old just LOVES the Kills or whatever band. No, dude. You may like it, but your son doesn't have musical taste yet.

There is a disproportionate number of male hipsters to female hipsters. Possibly because a lot of them are gay. Most of the anti-hipster sentiment is towards hipster men (notice how the beards always get mentioned). Big deal, a bunch of stick boys who couldn't bench 1/3 their body weight. No idea they are taken so seriously, they act so insufferable because of all the attention they get. It's the hipster men who take that annoying attitude really far, male hipsters come across like Daria more so than female hipsters.

Also, female hipsters usually aren't fatties like most western women.

Don't mind them. Very strong presence in Canadian cities. Even the industrial ones. Might as well get used to them. Many hipster girls out there and are great pool of generally open minded potential sexual encounters from every class of life.

Most hipsters here in Canada aren't trust fund. They usually don't have much, (shitty car, rented apartment with room mates, cheap clothes etc). Don't see the culture dying off anytime soon.

It might even become like hip hop culture, so prevalent that we will forget that it was ever a subculture.

Concur with DjDj. I don't get the hate. I would rather deal with DC hipster guys and girls than Arlington "bros" and former sorority girls that wear NFL jerseys on game day.

I know I'm going to sound like a straight hater, and I guess I am, but I don't get it when hot hipster chicks are into these ugly, scawny, unkept, feminized dweebs! I saw two very mismatched couples while out having breakfast today, that had me scratching my head, the guys weren't scrawny or particularly feminine, they were hipsters, but maybe a different breed, any how both guys were extremely tattooed to the point of looking freakish in my book, face tats, neck tats, sleeves, tats on their hands, etc.

For some reason both guys (two separate couples) were with hot hipster style chicks, but from what I saw neither of the girls had tattoos themselves and if they did they had to have been small ones. Objectively speaking the guys were unattractive, one was a fat ass that was way over weight, but the girls were both solid 8's.

Now I know you'll say, "so what, good for them, stop hating", but I can't help it. I'm not on a dry spell or anything, but I feel like I work my ass off to improve myself, work out, eat right, learn martial arts, travel, buy nice clothes/develop good style, but some how I can't seem to score anything higher than a 7 in this town. Meanwhile there are shit tons of hipsters, with hot ass girls, and the hipster guy is usually a 140 pound weakling, with a handle bar mustache, high-water skinny jeans, a bow tie, and some other gay shit. Or he's a fat ass, with a beenie, but he's cover head to to in ugly ass tattoos. Yet somehow these guys are pulling some of the hottest girls in town, I don't know, but sometimes it feels like I'm living in a bizarro world. I bet Soup would say these guys are alpha and have exceptional game, so maybe I should befriend them and take notes.

Hipster for sure are fucking clickish motherfuckers, that's have of why I think these guys are pulling these chicks. They stick with their own kind, and have super tight social circles, and all have a "holier than thou" or "more hipster than thou" attitude. It's fucking ironic because their whole shtick is about being a non-conformist and not giving a fuck about what anyone thinks, but in reality they are highly conformist and judgmental, and look down upon other groups of people whether it be jocks, preps, etc., etc. They think they are cooler than just about every other group, and act snooty, and stuck up as fuck, meanwhile all under the guise of being an non-elitist.

Most of them are trust fund fuckers, who live in expensive cities like NYC or SF, work shitty jobs, but somehow can afford to live in a $2500 a month apartment. A lot of them are more or less broke and while the minimalist lifestyle is cool and all, it's not cool when you're 38 years old and still have 3 roommates and are living pay check to pay check as a barista. But, like I said a lot of these types come from wealthier families and can afford to dick around for most of adulthood.

Last but not least, fuck PBR, I get it if you're on a tight budget, but it's fucking lame how hipsters worship that beer and drinking it is like one of the core tenants of their life philosophy. PBR sucks relative to good beer, and most of these types can afford to drink Stella Artois or something half decent, but yet you only seeing them drink PBR, it's part of their groupthink conformist mentality. Maybe it was Portlandia or some other show I saw, where they spoof hipsters, they're in Portland or somewhere in a hipster bar, and a hipster orders a drink other than PBR, and the whole bar stops and goes silent and stares at him, then the bartender makes a face, and hands him a PBR.

There is one movie made by Tim and Eric, was never really familiar with them, but it's about a hipster douchebag and his friends living in Williamsburg, it's called "The Comedy" and I actually thought it was pretty funny. The whole movie is just a collection of scenes of this guy, and it's really slow, but a dry and off beat form of comedy, the guy just acts like a total hipster douche and is a condescending asshole to people, but it's pretty funny.

Why are they losers? Because they don't lift? Having a social circle is a good thing. If they feel smart good for them.

They don't create things? Hipsters in my city create art, music, they open bars, make films etc...

Don't get me wrong, I am NOT a hipster. Nowhere close and I think it is funny to see adults dress in "costumes" but I really do not see the need to hate and project negative energy. It's not healthy.

First off I grew up in NYC, so the hipsters moved to me not visa versa.

Truth is, most of the girls I fuck aren't hipsters at all. They are usually girls from Manhattan or Europe who come to Brooklyn to fuck hipsters. I just happened to be caught in the Crossfire.

I like good music, I like good movies. Does that make me a snob? I can be critical of shitty movies and music.. but, I'm also musician by profession and studied and worked in film/theater for nine years, so my tastes might be a little more.. sharpened?

As strange as it sounds - they don't really stand out in any big cities and hipster men can get away with a lot more fashion risks given it's "hipster".

Outside LA (where this style is common), if you're wearing skinny jeans, a fitted deep v-neck, a leather bracelet and have those jeans tucked into boots (good style with a touch of euro), people will assume you're possibly gay unless you're a jacked bodybuilder. LA is probably the only city in the US where straight guys can dress well and it's promoted.

Now, If you turn that style all-out hipster with the stupid glasses, cardigan, goofball neon shoes, and the unshowered hipster look, then the chance of it being thought of as gay is lower, it's "hipster" now. It's an interesting paradox I've noticed, one that I enjoy pointing out.

I attribute this to hipsters being part of an identifiable subculture, and truly fashionable straight men are uncommon in the US, high-end, edgy fashion is still seen as something reserved for gays.

Hipsters aren't going anywhere during this decade at least. I was just telling Sourcecode 5 mins ago how my city is so hipster that hipster brands like Urban Outfitters are mainstream here. Hipsters here have even spread from the part of the inner city they traditionally inhabited and overrun adjoining suburban areas. The New York Times have an article about the same thing happening in NYC.

I think the era of one counter-culture dominating at a time (hippies, punks, grunge etc.) is coming to an end though because young peoples music tastes are diversifying like crazy because of the internet.
