I hate hipsters.. pretty much always have. However on a brisk sunny morning in Bucharest last summer, I met up with three other RooshV forum brothers for a late breakfast. An as we sat there indulging in greasy sausages and stimulating conversation I happened to gaze upon three fellows waltzing into the cafe. Hipsters! Bloody hipsters!! I thought to myself... Then, in that moment... everything changed. The last little hipster of the herd made his way into my line of sight, an there he was in all his hipster glory. He was supporting the most magnificent beard I have ever had the pleasure of laying my eyes upon. It was magical and captivating yet I still managed to break my view of it long enough to marvel at his wardrobe. I've never seen such fitting clothes on a mere mortal... a white button up dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up tighter than virgin Asian asshole. With a fancy grey vest, matching grey slacks and black tie that would make Giorgio Armani jealous. His shoes where so shiny I could see my bewilderment in them. I never revealed my giddy admiration of the hipster to the rest of the breakfast club... But that encounter changed my destiny.

Any-who. Now I have a six month long beard that hasn't been trimmed or shaped in the slightest. I also got some custom 3 piece suits made and some grown man shoes. I feel like I am becoming a hipster... but just in style? I don't like that most hipsters are effeminate nancy boys. But I do dig the look of the hipsters who rock big beards and wear nice clothes. I'm the anti-hipster hipster.. I'm having identity issues.

In it, a very young yours truly looks quite hipster-ish with his umbrella in hand, blue jeans, ill-fitting white cardigan, striped white dress shirt and a motherfuckin' pink bowtie...

I've hung out with a few hipster types of girls in college. One was the daughter of an interior designer and one had a father who was in a really well known band in the 90's. The girls picked up on that kind of alternative vibe from their own parents and wound up dressing in vintage, lived in New York and treated the organic food they ate like it was drenched in gold. All 8's and 9's. The guys, on the other hand, were mainly fey men who pretended to be aspiring writers and illustrators when in reality they were the kinds of dudes who failed trigonometry in high school and never got laid until age 22.

I fucking hate hipsters.

They all over the major cities in South Africa. Skinny jeans, Wayfarer type non prescription glasses. V neck t-shirts. Military boots. Piercings , tattoos, beards.

They are now tainting rural South Africa. To be more non conformist they now reside in rural villages doing their "Art". Making the town more touristy.

Everything must be artisinal, free range, organic, vegan or whatever the latest fucking fad is.

Holocaust looking bodies.

I see them at the record store. Only going for the obscure stuff.

To me this lifestyle is a result of a lack of sex. The inability to get sex .Rejects, social outcasts. Gay. It drives them into this lifestyle.

I fucking hate them.

I've shot film on a bolex and cut movies on a steenbeck (reel to reel table), know and like all the austere european cinema, listen to jazz, wear a blazer over a turtleneck, drink good wine/bourbon/scotch/gin, and eat at the trendy places. And in high school I read all the existentialists.

So I have more reason to hate hipsters than most, since they sullied the reputation of all the things I like best.

A hipster chick in Montreal said I hate hipsters cos I am a proto-hipster. She's not entirely wrong.

I also eat meat, have no tats, work out, and use the word "faggot" earnestly.

It's a fucking weird world, man.
