I think "dates", even if informal and still far from stereotypically-beta dinner dates, tend to freak IV chicks out. Teach them how to surf instead (I know you're still learning but you'll just be pushing them on a longboard, and they wouldn't be able to tell anyway). Even better if you have a jacuzzi at your place and you ca go back there with her after a cold session, but either way pick a spot near your house so you can go back there to shower afterwards. I think it just lowers the pressure on the girl, since the focus is on something else, she's not just going to some random dude's house, and anything that might happen afterwards becomes a "it just happened" sort of thing because in her mind she just meant to go surf with you (lol)

Came across as a little try hard.
1- She didnt ask you what you were doing...you asked (thats fine by itself).
2- The magic reference .. unsure if this works the same way where you live, so take it with a pinch of salt. Here, its usually the uber beta males who do magic to impress "the ladies". So if I say I'm a magician, its kinda a DLV, and I have to work harder to un-stereotype myself.. I'd hide and deny that until she was much more into me, and then use it as a means to build comfort through a little vulnerability. I get you, just.. say it if she asks you. Or do it more subtly.

The key is to do so without being butthurt. Maybe she'll wonder and come back,maybe you can push for the lay.
