RE: Fisto Recons Lima Peru
Well the good news is that this place can only get better I guess.

I will say it's clean and I like the look of the city.

I'm meeting another girl shortly and I've chatted with her on Skype. She's hot.

If it doesn't improve much I can mark Peru off the list and not worry about coming here during my 6 month trip.

Colombia seems like it will be much much better. Hell just from the girls online alone I'm loving Colombia. I keep getting messages from 18 year old girls that are in Bogota and Medellin.

Edit- I'm using airbnb for the first time and I'm not crazy about it. These people try and nickel and dime the fuck out of you.

We were meant for far more than to suffer in our self created prisons only to die alone. It doesn't have to be that way. It never did.

Airfare is going to be a bitch since it will be high season in SA. Other than that, i don't know. It'll be summer over there.

RE: Fisto Recons Lima Peru
If I didn't have family visiting me from up north I would show you around fisto, by the way thursday nights, the clubs open til saturday nights but the weekends are the best nights to go. Food is not the cheapest in the most touristy areas but in general it is much cheaper than North America, I made a brief explanation of where to find bargain meals on my last post. /thread-28611.html

I also posted short trips outside of Lima and some general tips, which are worth checking out on my thread

More Things To Do in Lima

Try out surfing on the coast which is always interesting, it's really affordable and includes everything and lessons are also cheap http://www.pukanasurf.com/ Just ask anyone in Parque kennedy how to arrive, it's really close.

Bicycle rentals and tours are pretty interesting too as they involve going to several places like miraflores, barranco, historic districts which date as far back as the 1500's etc.

High Quality Buffets

If your here for a short period of time like Fisto I suggest you try out the following quality buffets to taste as much of what Peru has to offer in as little time as possible.

No. 3
Aromas has great quality for a buffet and it's affordable, however its only available for lunch ($17 or 45 soles) and breakfast ($12 or 30 soles). Mainly Peruvian Food and although the variety is not large it makes up for that in quality.

No. 2
La Bistecca is one of the best, great quality and their beef is awesome, ($30) Peruvian, Italian, Chinese, Japanese

No. 1
Barranco's got the best buffet in all of Lima.
PuroPeru, for $25 (70 soles) mon-sat and $29 (80 soles) on sundays it has the best quality and one of the largest selections of dishes like Argentinian bbq (parillada), varied Peruvian, Seafood, Spanish, Sushi, Peruvian Influenced Sushi, Great Desserts and really good Chinese. This place is a must

Quality to price ration for Airbnb can really vary. For example, it's just terrible in San Francisco. But some places are a great deal.

When you're in Medellín, definitely check out Rob's apartments, they're across the hall from each other.

https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/1308058

I stayed in both and they are by far the most awesome places I've ever stayed, anywhere. Ultra modern, with a daily maid. Smack dab in the middle of Poblado. Close to great nightlife (zona rosa) and to several universities. Also the safest barrio in Medellín.

There's a free outdoor gym with free weights and pullup bars and shit nearby. An awesome salsa academy right around the corner with the hottest fucking salsa instructor. Great fun.

Also a lot of good food, including an argentine steakhouse we ate at probably 3x week. $10 for a big steak and french fries. $12 if you split a bottle of malbec with some friends.

Also, it might be just me, but I slept like a baby every single night for a month there. Maybe the mountain air.

Ah, Medellín... Kissy Biggrin

Lima is pretty polarizing.

A kid I know was planning to spend half a year there, then after three weeks hated it so much that he stole his brother's credit card, walked to the airport, and bought a flight back to Europe.

It can be hard to adjust to for those culturally Anglo-Saxon or Germanic, but you'll probably have a more enjoyable time if you stop worrying about the girls' lateness so much; rather, expect it and plan accordingly. From my experience, Latin American (and Mediterranean) cultures simply view time differently. One way I've heard it described is that we view time as very linear and rigid - if you're supposed to be somewhere at 8:00pm and you show up at 8:05pm then you're late - whereas they view time as more of an amorphous cloud - show up at 7:00pm or 11:00pm, no big deal.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

I know it. No regrets though. This is just not the kind of place you want to come to for a short trip. I can see this being a cool place on a longer timeline and larger social circle.

To expand on that: when I was there (February-March) I went to both Aura & Gotica twice each. In my experience, Gotica is much, much better as far as talent and amount of people. I'd almost say don't even wast your time with Aura, but I guess you kinda have to check it out.

Also, there's a place in Larcomar on the 3 floor called "Mama Batata" or something like that. It's a good place to go pre-game before Gotica. It seemed that a lot of people go their before heading to Gotica/Aura. My friends and I had some luck picking girls up here and swooping them to Gotica, ended up in SNL. (Be careful of girls saying they can't afford the cover to bait you into paying it.)

Also, have you tried "El Dragon" on a Wednesday yet? Hooked up there. Never tried the rest of the nights, but I think it's the best place in the area on a Wednesday. That's what the locals were telling us anyway.

You just landed in one of the top 5 ugly countries in Latin America, you'd have found more quality in almost any other country. Maybe you can at least find the Cuy Mágico out there in the streets of Lima:

Hey FISTO,

Go to Embarcadero 41 ( also known as "Peña del Carajo") on thursday night or on saturday afternoon. Ask any taxi driver to take you there. Tons of gringas and locals party there.

Also, try DRAMA (on costa verde) or ANTIQUA (RUSTICA) also in Costa Verde, both very close of each other.

After that you could check Mocara (4 blocks away from Kenedy park).

Then you could go to VOCE in Lince. This is a huge club where you can always meet some stunning girls.

If you don't like those places then I think you are done with Lima.

Good luck.

PD. I live in Lima.

Have you tried hitting up any of the beaches? I went to Playa Silencio for the day. It was a decent beach with a decent amount of talent. I didn't hang around for the nightlife, but when I was leaving the discos were just getting started up. The Peruana that I was hanging out with said they get pretty crazy.

The beach is pretty far out from Miraflores/Barranco so be sure to negotiate with the taxi. I can't really remember how much we paid but I had her negotiate the price.

Also, playa Asia is supposed to be pretty good but I never made it there.

Well god dammit Arcangel I'm leaving tomorrow. Paleo Dude is so tied up with "family" that he can't take a break and you show up 4 hours before I leave.

First off. I think it's outright bullshit that a guy comes on here and hypes a place and then can't be bothered to back up his story. Paleo Dude's info may be correct but from everything I've witnessed the only thing he's right about is the food and the activities.

After following Paleo Dudes's advice I went downtown and saw the ugliest people on the planet. I don't say that lightly and I've been a few places

Lima may be worth coming to see if you KNOW places to be, but in general, there are many other destinations to go that will be much better. My review is unequivocally : NOT WORTH IT.
