Wow, what a killer (pun intended!) CV of the US government!
Thank you for posting this HC! I sincerely hope that this will make a few see the light as to what's really going on in out there...

• is still deeply involved in two failed wars of aggression in Iraq and Afghanistan that have lasted for over a decade without coming to a conclusion.

• is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands, if not over a million Iraqis and Afghans through aerial bombardments, night raids, artillery shelling, ground missions, and genocidal sanctions.

• used depleted uranium and white phosphorous munitions in Iraq leading to a sharp increase in cancerous birth defects in areas like Fallujah.

• knowingly aided Saddam Hussein with intelligence while being completely aware that he was using chemical weapons against Iran.

• has systematically tortured and/or overseen the torture of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, Bagram prison, Abu Ghraib, and numerous CIA rendition and black sites.

• is engaged in an illegal, vicious, and indiscriminate drone war in Pakistan, Yemen, and Somalia which has murdered numerous women, children, and non-combatants with total casualties estimates ranging around 3,000-5,000.

• bankrolled (and refused to condemn) the Israeli army as they used white phosphorous shells to attack civilians at al-Quds hospital and a UN compound housing refugees in Gaza in 2009.

• continues to offer diplomatic cover for the brutal and expansionist Israeli occupation and provides weapons to the Israeli military as it carries out further crimes against Palestinians.

• actively supported dictator Hosni Mubarak and his torturous military regime with weapons for over three decades.

The US is the #1 weapons exporter in the world and does not consider the importing countries’ records on human rights or democracy a relevant factor.

• is now complicit in the massacres being committed by the very same Egyptian military under the coup government led by General Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi which has murdered over 1,000 people in cold blood in the last month.

• remains tightly allied with the monarchies in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain in the suppression of their populations.

• armed and trained fundamentalists forces, including the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan, that eventually gave birth to al-Qaeda and similar groups.

• backed former Tunisian dictator Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali by sending 12 million in “security assistance” to suppress the popular uprising at the start of the Arab Spring revolutions.

• has left Libya, and consequently Mali, in a state of chaos after a 2011 supposed “humanitarian intervention” to remove Muammar el-Qaddafi.

• pushed the Pakistani military from 2007 -2010 to carry out dreadfully unaccountable operations in the SWAT, FATA, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa which led to the death of 1,300 civilians and the internal displacement of nearly 4 million Pakistanis.

• is the #1 weapons exporter in the world and does not consider the importing countries’ records on human rights or democracy a relevant factor.

• currently maintains stockpiles of nuclear, chemical, and other banned weapons, such as cluster bombs.

• regularly persecutes and incarcerates its own dissenters, war resisters, and whistleblowers.

• does not want you to remember the horrors of Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Agent Orange, and the Gulf War Syndrome.

The many atrocities committed by the Assad regime since the start of the Syrian revolution are absolutely unacceptable and the stories emerging from the country are completely heartbreaking. And in fairness, the war crimes committed by the many rebel militias operating in Syria, though lesser in number and intensity, are gruesome and also unacceptable. The recent chemical attacks are undoubtedly a very disturbing development. The 100,000 lives lost prior to these attacks were every bit as precious and the suffering of their families is no easier due to the type of weapons which killed their loved ones.

As an outsider, I cannot pretend to know what the answer is to resolving this conflict, providing justice to those who have been harmed, or building a stable and inclusive Syria for all its inhabitants. I am not sure that anyone knows. The Arab and Muslim states and various militias are divided by their specific interests. The large foreign powers all have their own agendas primarily based on competing imperial calculations.

Ordinary Syrians’ voices are being drowned out by the violence and more immediate concerns like seeking bread and shelter. (However, it is important to recognize that with all the focus on foreign Islamist fighters in the conflict, Syrians have remained active in the resistance, both armed and non-armed, to the Assad regime. They, of course, also make up the ranks of the government’s forces.)

I also think nobody would be stupid enough to discuss such things via e-mail and especially not phrased in this way.

The US is obviously keen on securing oil reserves from oil producing countries that aren't friendly towards them. Syria is not selling oil to the US at all to my knowledge and only to countries that are currently against a military strike.

Wether instigated by US backed entities or by the Assad regime, which is perfectly capable of such things, it's a waste of our time to think about this as the powers that be will always get their way, regardless of public consensus. History also shows that things hardly ever change into a positive direction in such countries.

All I want to say is that I'm glad that I'm far away from extreme hardships and conflicts.

Kerry: Arab countries offered to pay for invasion

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post...67ba30e5e3

Quote:Secretary of State John Kerry said at Wednesday’s hearing that Arab counties have offered to pay for the entirety of unseating President Bashar al-Assad if the United States took the lead militarily.

“With respect to Arab countries offering to bear costs and to assess, the answer is profoundly yes,” Kerry said. “They have. That offer is on the table.”

Asked by Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) about how much those countries would contribute, Kerry said they have offered to pay for all of a full invasion.

“In fact, some of them have said that if the United States is prepared to go do the whole thing the way we’ve done it previously in other places, they’ll carry that cost,” Kerry said. “That’s how dedicated they are at this. That’s not in the cards, and nobody’s talking about it, but they’re talking in serious ways about getting this done.

Yes, we are. Apparently it's the only thing we can do any more (military attacks).
Kerry is such a fraud. When he says "Arab states" he means the Gulf State petro-monarchies Saudia Arabia, Qatar, and Kuwait. There are 22 countries and the only ones who want this invasion are the US's terrified lapdogs in the region. They're terrified because the leaders of these countries are worthless, corrupt, overweight, degenerate traitors to their people. They see Iran developing steadily, not kissing ass to the West like they do, and they hate that.
They are also sitting like fat pigs on top of restive Shiite populations that they've been oppressing. And they think they'll be able to do it forever. I hope I live long enough to see them get what they deserve.
Their first goal is to destroy Syria, then they want the US to attack Iran. You mark my words. That's the game plan. To destroy any obstacle to total US-Israeli domination of the entire region.
I can't even find the words to express how much contempt I feel for them...
A good journalist about this stuff is Pepe Escobar, who writes for the Asia Times (atimes.com). He's based in Brazil and I've talked to him about this before. He knows the deal....

Let's just drop the pretense. America is a military empire. Our standard of living is predicated on the subjagation of foreign people. Just like 1000 other empires of the past have done. It's wrong, but why give a shit? We get to have better lives because of it.

If we weren't the oppressors, someone else would be opressing us. Reading through history has given me the impression that politics is a zero-sum game.

The problem is intractable and our only hope at this point is to continue our rule over the middle east. If millions must suffer for it, oh well. I'm happy to be closer to the winner circle just in virtue of being an American.

I'm sure thousands of soldiers and Marines would be thrilled to risk life and limb fighting alongside Al Qaeda for an injection of Saudi oil money into the treasury.

What a fucking insult. Kerry is so hopelessly in thrall to the globalist/elitist agenda that he can't even pretend to be putting the interests of the U.S. first.

Truly unbelievable. The guy who represents our country on the world stage openly promoting the U.S. military as a mercenary army.

How much longer can shit like this go on before some ballsy General tells Washington to fuck off, and the rest of the military joins him?

Kerry at the start of his 2004 campaign:

"The United States of America never goes to war because we want to, we only go to war because we have to"

Political pandering is anything & everything. What really matters is global agenda that society has no control over.

One way to look at it is that the world is controlled by a ruthless corporate mafia that has decided that Assad has to go. When you are fired from this corporation, it means that you die. The picture that was published of Kerry and his wife having an intimate dinner with Assad and his wife reminds me of the Mafia kiss of death. There is nothing for free, and being a member of the Empire also means giving up your freedom to an increasingly tyrannical surveillance state (Google NSA). The welfare state becomes a welfare controlled state. The rulers in charge really aren't nice guys doing it for "us". Living in the Roman Empire really wasn't that great and was full of miserable people, which is what gave the juice to fuel Christianity. I frequently recall the below Twilight Zone Episode which I saw as a kid and nicely describes these situations.

RE: Military Intervention in Syria.
What would it take to have a military coup inside the US? Where the military rebels and gives a big fat FU to Washington and over throws them them as they've been doing around the world for over a century? That would be a GLORIOUS day indeed! Not that much would change, it would go from one form of dictatorship to another, but just seeing those fat pigs out of office would be orgasmic.

I've been thinking this way recently. Just the way the Obama administration has gone about trying to sell these strikes - completely at odds with the majority of the American public and refusing to spell out the evidence that Assad was responsible for the chemical weapons attack - tells me something along the sorts of a CIA operation is at hand.

Obama and Co. are truly delusional if they think the American public is just going to take their word in light of bogus WMD incentive from Iraq and more recent scandals a la Wikileaks and Ed Snowden. Fuck them.

Not to mention the out of hand massive entitlement complex specially from women and all the fucked up laws favouring them at the expense of hard working men. All that shit is not sustainable long enough and a time will come when it will explode from within.

Gov't spending has been out of control for over a decade.

Illegal immigration is mostly at a net-zero number. Just let the old illegals die from age (they'll die sooner due to having more physical jobs).

9/11 is the cause of having way too many flag-officers. Many are now bitching about getting fired through RIF

It would be interesting to find a O-7 through O-10 that is free from MIC influence. Defense jobs and corporate board stints are just too juicy to pass up.

I am not convinced at all. How exactly are we bettering our lives by attacking Syria? If anything, creating another arab enemy would draw more blow back and invite terrorists to come and attack us and martyr themselves. we would be striking first.

The Arabs merely recognize it to be the most effective way to destroy the U.S.A. Encourage the U.S.A. to embroil itself in another destructive conflict it's already considering by offering financial support. The plan is so brilliant because the pride of the American elite will prevent them from identifying it.

I know how you feel, but it's hard to say whether you're right or not. Democracy's strength hinges on an informed public that accepts reality on its own terms. Our current society is becoming increasingly pacified by the pursuit of ignorance, and a preference for comforting delusion over harsh realities.

I could envision a society free from the breads-and-circuses sideshow of the modern electoral spectacle being capable of fixing their problems, but it may take a collapse and subsequent military solution.

Of course the barracks emperors in the 3rd century were truly the end of Rome.

I am not convinced at all. How exactly are we bettering our lives by attacking Syria? If anything, creating another arab enemy would draw more blow back and invite terrorists to come and attack us and martyr themselves. we would be striking first.

The continuation of the petrodollar's supremacy. Without that the american system collapses. It would lead to instant inflation and probably riots as food becomes more expensive for those at the bottom.

This explains the petrodollar system.

RE: Military Intervention in Syria.
My personal guess is that this war is about Russia and retaliation for the Snowden affair. This is getting strangly little Western press but Syria is very close to Russia, the whole regime is a relic of the Cold War when the father of the current dictator took over with Soviet support and personally built up Syria as part of the Russian sphere.

Syria even still hosts a Russian military base, a small but significant one given Russia's shortage of strategically located naval bases. The United States appears to be simply calculating that the alliance with Russia is mainly based on the personal relationship of the dictator and if they take out the Assad regime, whoever takes power is very unlikely to rebuild an alliance with Russia or tolerate a Russian military base in Syria.

If the only guaranteed result of regime change in Syria is a break up of the Russian alliance then it's a pretty good guess that breaking up the Russian alliance is the actual goal. As a side benefit Iran will at least temporarily lose an ally since it will take time to rebuild a relationship if all the key people change in Syria (this is an ethnic minority based government, if it loses power everyone will be kicked out or shot dead).

RE: Military Intervention in Syria.
I'm starting to wonder if Syria might do for Obama what Gaul did for Cesar.
Hail Cesar Obamus!
A lot of my team blue friends, especially on Facebook are just ignoring this whole issue. No, much more important to talk about the teh gey who still can't get married to a 12-year-old in Alabama!
Maybe this is the real reason our Noble Peace Prize Fearless Leader is ready to rain fire from the sky on Syria. Russia had the audacity to say "No Homo" and Syria is a close friend of Russia.

These guys are placating the leader of a country that was home to 15 of the 19 9/11 hijackers. The same ruler who speaks from one side of his mouth as an ally of the US while funding Islamist militants (Wahabbis) with the other.
