I was extremely close at putting in a bet with a Fury win as a hedge, and a draw as the main bet at 27-1 odds. My reasoning was that Fury would be cheated somewhat and they would make it a draw, sort of like Lewis-Holyfield 1. I have to start trusting myself. (Same with Trump and Brexit, should have put some money on it.) I think it was a pretty fair decision all in all though.

I hate to brag, but I was right on pretty much everything going into this fight. I knew Fury`s flab would be a problem in latter rounds. Had he been fit enough, he would have won it. Wilder has excellent stamina.

Johnny, sorry but you are way off base brother. Had Fury weighed less it is obvious he would have been knocked the fuck out. He was in very great shape actually and looked super sharp.

Weight is power. Size matters.

Forget about the 2 knockdowns. Think about all the other punches he was able to shrug off!!!!

If he fights Joshua next he might trim down more, but he was smart by being the weight he was last night.

I hear your (fat acceptanceSmile) argument, but I think he would do better with less flab in the latter rounds. I think he got hit more towards the end due to his lack of stamina. I hope he improves his fitness before a rematch takes place.

You should watch American Football sometimes and take a look at offense and defensive linemen. There are dudes on teams with 4 times the stamina of both fighters and twice the flab. Don't let the fat fool you. Fat does not suck up excessive amounts of oxygen like muscles do. Also sometimes skin is too loose, especially for full contact athletes that have to make weight and still do fast cuts. Nowadays fewer guys do this, but some dudes are still oldskool.

It depends on what you`re training for. They might have good endurance relative to other athletes in the same sport, but let them run a 10k, and that mass would slow them down to a great extent. I think Wilder would run circles around those guys you mentioned. (Not Fury though)

I see your point, but in the absolute sense, not relative to the specific sport, excess mass will always be a negative when it comes to endurance. The flabby elite endurance athlete does not exist.

Either way, both guys deserve mad respect for fighting each other. It was a tough match up for both of them, they're both at the top of their games, and they didn't duck each other. They fought, they risked their records, they got paid. Hope Wilder is gettin some pussy, hope Fury will allow his wife the privilege of massaging his feet while dinner is in the oven...

Especially against a guy who only weighed 211. He tired out Wilder by leaning on him with all that weight. He fought as good a fight as he could and probably deserved the win. But a draw won't hurt him, especially the way he fought last night.

My guess is that he skips a rematch with Wilder, and goes right to a fight with Joshua for $$$$$.

Yeah it would seem like who he truly wants to fight is Joshua, who he targets the most shit talking to. They both called him out and Fury now talks about how he thinks and feels like he won the Wilder fight. I think he is trying to set up his pivot to chase Joshua and yeah there will likely be more money involved and they would fight in the UK.

Wilder on the other hand needs to learn a new punch and perhaps he can fight the winner of Fury and Joshua and get even more money.

Fury doesn`t strike me as a guy who`s motivated mainly by money though. I`m not so sure Wilder really want`s a rematch with Fury after this. Fury will probably be sharper in the next fight, and if it`s in the UK that will favour Fury also.

I think all in all it was fair with a draw, even with the points lead. You shouldn`t win the title when you`re knocked down twice in my opinion.

Points.

But I know what you mean though. Wilder was utterly outboxed regardless of his scored knockdowns.

Exactly... Wilder had 10/8 in those two knockdown rounds and maybe one more 10/9 round but the rest of the match it was a 10/9 boxing clinic by Fury.

I would say this draw decision is almost as bad as the first GGG/Canelo match. Seeing Rochin's scorecards, I don't see any explanation other than he got paid off. Him and Adalaide Byrd have a special place in hell waiting for them.

I used to refuse to believe that judges were corrupt in boxing. But there have been SO many bad decisions like this, i'm not sure what else could better explain it.

It's not so much as overt as paying off, it's more a case of a promoter wining and dining them the night before in order to curry favour. Either way, it's fucking shit. WBC have ordered an immediate rematch. Imagine how good Fury will be after a nice month off and then another 12 week camp where the focus isn't on losing weight. If it is indeed at Old Trafford, I'll be going. I have a friend who works for Ticketmaster so I'll be able to get floor seats.

I like Fury but I suspect he will try to dodge the rematch and if it does go ahead he is getting knocked out in my opinion.

So disgusted with the tie decision that I’ll likely sit out Fury v Wilder rematch. Probably gonna be a lot tighter odds than the first fight, I can see it being a -120/-110 line.

In a less controversial match, Lomachenko just straight shut down Pedraza. The guy continues to amaze: his boxing IQ and footwork is otherworldly, not to mention his top conditioning and hand speed.

That 11th round where Loma landed over 40 power punches on Pedraza in about 1m30s, scored two knockdowns and Pedraza could not even throw one back...

RE: Official Boxing Thread for Videos, History, Interviews, Analysis, etc.

Pretty short (at least for JRE) episode with Deontay. Rogan obviously sugarcoats a lot of the interview and throws him a bunch of other softball questions. I've been a fan ever since Wilder took Charlie Zelenoff to task for talking shit about his daughter and after watching this interview I like the guy even more. He is incredibly genuine and his story about coming up is very inspirational.

That said, I think the tone of his responses is indicative to how guileless he is. Listen to the way he describes things. From the way he talks about how his grandmother said he was "anointed to do great things" to thinly veiled allusions of Fury's "gypsy magic" helping him up from that hellacious knockdown in the 12th and preventing Wilder from fully realizing the power in his right hand... this is not the narrative of a deep thinker. Contrast that with his opponent who's an incredibly wily natural boxer.

This leads me to believe that Wilder will bring the same one-dimensional fight plan to the rematch no matter what his corner encourages him to do. He's gonna dance with the punch that brought him this far and once again rely on that world class straight right. Fury knows the game plan now. With the ring rust likely shaken off, he's not likely going to get knocked down again in the second fight and once again put on a clinic. I don't think any judge - paid off or not - is going to be shameless enough to give a decision score to Wilder if Fury puts on the clinic I think he will in v 2.0.

TLDR Summary: Complete gorilla psychoanalysis on my part, but this interview makes me feel like Wilder will have the exact same game plan as the first fight. I'm very curious to see what the oddsmakers initially put out. If Fury is the underdog or it's basically even money, I'll likely put aside my moral compunctions about the first fight's decision and put a decent sized bet on him for the win.

Its a tough one for me. Everyone is saying Fury will clean Wilder up now he has shaken the rust off and clearly outboxed him on points but im not so sure.

In my opinion I believe Fury has lost the psychological edge now. He cant tell Wilder at press conferences he is going to knock him out with conviction anymore because frankly he never looked like knocking him out where as Wilder looked like he could have ended the fight with one Fury mistake. His put downs of skinny legs, you're a basketball player, you're not a boxer will not intimidate or make Wilder second guess himself anymore because he knows he laid Fury out with a miraculous recovery deep in the count robbing him of glory. Fury will be very respectful if not afraid of Wilder's punching power after getting dropped the second time (the first one I thought was a slip). Wilder has nothing to fear and knows a few good connections and Fury is going down.

Il be supporting Fury, I respect the man and dislike Wilders voodoo bullshit. Hopefully my hack prediction is completely wrong.
