Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
Just curious. I don't really care so much about how I look anymore. But for years I did - and no matter how much my weight went up and down - I always looked about 6 months pregnant.

This was (usually) only ever noticable when I had no clothes on. So - it was a private shame of mine in many ways. Almost like a hidden secret. Indeed - growing up it definitely held me back with women as well.

Which - in some way - led me forums like this. And then on to ideas like MGTOW. So - in some ways my big belly (which has sat there since I was 13) was the best thing that ever happened to me. Now that I have made peace with myself.

Anyway - I am sure this must be a common problem. I never got it checked out - but I suspect i have some kind of food allergy which makes it bad. Since - when I skip food for a day (say due to tiredness - when I have stayed up all night and then gone to bed straight after work) it goes down quite a bit.

At least it seems to - but I know longer really care. I am in the hookers, titty bars and porn stage of my life now.

I think Kate Winslet had a similar thing (she has never being skinny - but she was never obese). Since I remember her saying in an interview once (at the height of her fame) that she hated the way her belly looked like a deflated balloon.

I could really relate to that. And for what it is worth - all my weight goes straight on my belly. My face, legs, ass and arms always looked quite skinny.

RE: Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
You most likely have a wheat belly with a intolerance to gluten if it's something that is drastically going up and down in size.

Dairy bloats people up too but I'm not sure to that extent like gluten does.

A belly isn't ideal, but there are instances in which you can still be healthy with one but that depends on your BF% and the strength of things such as your heart. In those cases where all are normal or in a good range your fine.

Example: They did a test on two men once; one guy was a retierd firefighter (40s), while the other was a skinny student (mid 20s). It turns out the firefighter with his belly was healthier as he had way less of a BF% and his heart was in better shape.

Kosko's probably right. You might have some degree of gluten or dairy intolerance. Check out the book "Wheat Belly" if you are interested and want to learn more, but if you want to save time I'll just summarize it for you - "Avoid all wheat and grain products. Substitute needed calories into your diet with fats, fruits, and vegetables".

I would also like to add an addendum - "Fast for 18 to 24 hours weekly, if needed enjoy a coffee with a small amount of coconut oil, and eat only from this list".

RE: Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
Yeah - I started getting annoyed about my belly nearly 20 years ago.

Back then I didn't have access to the internet - and nobody talked about gluten intolerance.

As such - it really fucked me up in terms of my confidence.

Not sure if anything can be done since I am a fussy eater. And would never give up something I like. It is just the way it is.

I am pretty fat now - but I don't feel any different to when I was thin. Since - I always had a big belly which was there when I was naked. To me it was like having a horrible birthmark. Totally fucked up my game.

Oh, well...

cardguy, how much do you drink? I see a lot of guys that drink every day and most can be quite fit but still have a beer belly.

I had the belly for about 7 years before I started drinking. And I only drink spirits.

Probably a food allergy.

It doesn't bother me anymore. But it did back then.

Maybe this is why the low carbs diet works for some people. They stop eating bread and other gluten based products - and their stomachs are no longer swollen. Which they mistake for weight loss.

You can probably lose it in 3 months with some hard work.

I lost mine doing squats and a bicycling ab exercise. Lay on your back. Hands behind your head. Feet 6" off the ground. Bring one knee to your chest at a time. In and out like pedaling a bike. Do it until you're exhausted then take a break and go again. Your mid section will be weak afterwards and you'll be dripping with sweat.

Yeah I do the slow carb diet...it really sucks up the fat.

What kind of food do you normally eat? Do you have a workout routine?

No - I have given up on looking good.

So - this thread is a bit redundant. Sorry!

I just bought it up since it was the biggest issue for me growing up (it lay at the root of my hangups with women). And I wanted to get a feel for how common it is with other guys.

Louis CK had a similar problem. His solution was to only have sex whilst wearing a T shirt.

Never thought of that.

On a sidenote. It is interesting thinking about the psychology of this sort of thing.

Imagine you had a hideous birthmark - or a tiny micro-penis. That only you knew about.

How would that affect your confidence when interacting with women? Be honest.

Turn misfortune to your advantage. Check this guy out (NSFW) - he's got a tiny penis yet he's effectively a pornstar and banging lots of attractive women and making money doing it. Fucking brilliant.

I'm doing Starting Strength and I hope it helps by increasing my metabolism. Problem is that it has also increased my appetite. I already do a basically paleo diet but its possible to overheat healthy food.

@cardguy, one of my good friends is about 5'11 and weighs about 260 lbs. Dude has mad game. Macs at the tity bar, at our old job, always has some girl on the pipeline. I kinda bluntly asked him about how he feels about his size. And he was mad real, Put his hands on his belly and laughed lol A belly like his shows power, with his confidence bitches are attracted to him because he loves who he is. Shit i sometimes think if i had his metabolism and could eat like him it would screen out lays real quick.

Are you trying to lose your belly or not?

If you are, make some changes to your diet.

If not, God bless you and enjoy your life.

It is quite common. I mean, half of the UK and America is over weight so a lot of people have a belly.

The fastest way to melt a belly is with fruits and vegetables and water.

Don't forget that anterior pelvic tilt will make any belly that you do have stick out much more than it should. There's a thread on here somewhere about how to correct it.

^ Ditto Ketosis

More specifically

A Paleo diet
Weight Lifting
Kettlebell Swings

And if you really want to annihilate it, a Protein Sparing Modified Fast.

Your body is just the product of your inputs (food) and outputs( exercise).
Change the parameters and your body changes accordingly.

RE: Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
You could try juice fasting. Your body will go into ketosis (start buring fat for fuel) at day 3-4, and so then your body will draw its energy from your fat reserves (in your belly). I think you may find 10-14 days is enough to get rid of most bellies. If you drink enough vegetable juices you will not find it not too hard. It might be worth training for it, try doing a 3-4 day fast first as they can be hard.

If you do it, take psyllium husks and bentonite, and have coffee enemas. You will feel a helluva lot better after doing this, and this process will really clean you out. It is best to read authors like Richard Anderson and his "arise and shine" program is very good. The full month where you eat only alkaline food, take the special herbs and THEN do the juice fast is very effective indeed.

RE: Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
I've never in my life not had a belly. I was a fat kid, and even when I went from 198 lbs to 154 in 4 months, I still had a belly. This was despite running 4 miles a day, and barely eating (I was insane during that time, thanks ephedra). I've also never gone more than 2 weeks without drinking for the past 15 years.

This wheat belly thing is interesting, I may try it out. Though the closest I ever came to losing the belly was after 5 weeks of backpacking through Europe, constant walking, little food intake, and reduced alcohol.

for anyone reading this trying to reduce their belly, a couple of quick tips I've done and have worked. - 1. read the south beach diet and follow the first months recommendations as close as possible. basically cut back on your sugar intake. 2. walk daily 20-30 minutes. do you get a lunch break? - don't sit around on your ass, walk for half your break. you wont believe what simple walking daily will do for you. bring headphones to keep up stamina or go with a coworker.

I see that kind of talk a lot in the 'sphere but it's not particularly useful advice. Not disagreeing about the calories in/out being important, but human metabolism and weight (fat) loss is a little more complicated...there's that whole endocrine system thing. Insulin resistance, Thyroid issues, etc...

This video is just excellent, and convinced me I needed to start lifting:

I believe I came across it in another thread here.

RE: Anyone got a belly that won't go away?
It's allergy causing that. My belly started fluctuating when I first started hitting the Guinness. It came to a point after where I had abs on my pot. Once I went gluten free, the gut ran like the Gingerbread man.

It's not really related to weight, I see some cats here with twigs for arms and legs and carry one big sack in the front like they are preparing for famine.

Duck the bread, yeast and focus on the vegetables, brown rice, chicken and natural sauces.

I have a bit of one right now..but I am carving it away with ferocious gym work and some running once or twice a week in the hot ass sun.
