Bus 174 (Portuguese: Ônibus 174) is a Brazilian documentary film released on October 22, 2002. It is the debut film of director José Padilha and co-director Felipe Lacerda. Sandro do Nascimento, a young man from a poor background, bungled a robbery and ended up holding the passengers on a bus hostage for four hours. The event was caught live on television. The movie examines the incident and what life is like in the slums and favelas of Rio de Janeiro and how the criminal justice system in Brazil treats the lower classes. Within the film, Padilha interviews former and current street children, members of the Rio police force, the highly regarded Rio BOPE police team, family members, and sociologists in order to gain insight into what led Nascimento to carry out the hijacking.

It's basically a bean counters version of war and McNamara's lessons he learned during his time as Sec Def. Like him or hate him, it's truly the most interesting documentary I have ever seen.

Genghis Blues (1999), a documentary about a blind blues singer from Boston, Paul Pena, who became interested in Tuvan throat singing in the 1980s and taught himself Tuvan and Russian, eventually going to Tuva himself in 1995 to participate in a throat singing contest. Burns is a blue pill propagandist. How bad is his propaganda? his 20 hour documentary on Vietnam doesn't even acknowledge that the Gulf of Tonkin incident was a false flag event.

John Pilger on Burns' Vietnam:

Civilisation - A Personal View by Lord Clark

The original mega budget BBC documentary from 1966 is by far the greatest I have seen. It will probably never be bettered.
