I came to this town by chance actually. My plan was to take a long break and throw myself into China to see what ventures to get into. I happened to have relatives in the Guangdong region, so I moved close to them since it doesn't hurt to have contacts. I actually researched the city and saw that certain towns within the city specialized in certain things. Lighting was one of them, and I actually secretly hoped that it was this specific town that I would end up with (because mahogany furniture and textiles, for example, don't seem like fun, unique and/or promising opportunities for me). Sure enough, here I am. I'm thinking of joining the Enter China forums, but not until in a few months after I get the ball rolling.

LED lighting is indeed going up. I read a McKinsey research report showing that it was eclipsing other types of lighting globally. Random observation: every single white foreigner (not much) I saw was either Turkish or from some Arabic speaking country (lots of storefronts with Arabic signage), so these guys may be on to something.

Yeah I definitely feel this way. LEDs are a no brainer investment for energy efficiency in many cases for new construction. I haven't looked into this area for a while but I can see construction companies and local/city governments being interested in LED.

1. What value you have to offer

I work in direct response digital advertising. Currently my main gig is at a major weight loss company. I spend around $1M a month on Google AdWords, Bing Ads, Facebook Ads, Affiliates, Remarketing, etc. I have daily conversations with reps at Google, Bing, Facebook to drive to ecommerce/call center, also leads for local clinics. Been doing it full time since 2008.

I'd be happy to informally point anyone in the right direction at RVF who is considering online advertising for their business, or already doing it and trying to do it better. You really gotta watch the media reps you have (including Google). Realize their only goal at the end of the day is to get you to spend money. They'll talk some game about ROI/revenue, and they can be helpful, but their bottom line is you spend as much as possible with them so you gotta look at anything they say with an appropriate lens.

2. What you are looking for or could benefit from

Ideally I'd like to get out of trading hours for dollars as a consultant or as a wage slave- been there done that-and get in on a product or perhaps an SaaS that can scale and use smart paid advertising to drive revenue. 4HWW is what brought me into this space to begin with, but so far I just have never come up with any solid ideas on my own. It would be great to pair my core skillsets (advertising, conversion rate optimization, analytics) with guys who are more versed in areas like product design, sourcing, content marketing, etc. Not necessarily to only partner (though am open to that) but just to trade knowledge/ideas/experiences.

3. Projects you have going on or projects you'd like to find help for

I've been working my way through material on Alibaba/product sourcing/FBA, etc - researching different markets and appropriate manufacturers. Would be cool to have someone that I could informally "swap" expertise with who is more versed in that area, and that I could help out with advertising-related items, etc.

@TheFinalEpic- I've looked at Alibaba, but id say 50%+ of it is fraud or deceptive marketing. The "wholesaler" is either a scammer or a drop-shipper who ships from manufacturer to you at much higher markups (retail prices basically).

The easiest way to get wholesale price estimates is to go unto EBAY and check out lowest prices there, then subtract 30% and you'll get to wholesale prices. <--- Doable, but youll have to put in a good amount of work.

Master Distributor prices are generally 30% under wholesale prices. This requires huge Minimum Order Quantity and very likely a formal agreement both in Chinese and English. <--- Basically impossible for an average person to get it. Expect boots on the ground, long discussions back and forth, and a minimum order of at least 250k+, followed by a yearly commitment of recurring orders. If you fail to keep up, you'll get dropped and somebody else will come in.

Tips for ordering from unknowns- never agree to pay w/ WU or TT. If you must, use PayPal as it has fraud protection. Escrow is another option.

If you decide to go for the Alibaba route, stick to gold suppliers of at least 4-5 years. Scammers are much less likely in this group.

So i decided to create a product that can help me earn some money or make a company out of it. I created a Wooden Bong that actually works and it's natural.That means it contains no chemical ingredients and it's water resistant and it's easy to clean.
So long story short, i need help with legal issues and with finding the right partner to sell these Bongs...

At the risk of sounding stupid, is there any danger of a wooden bong actually going up in flames somehow? Just some liability stuff. I dunno.

My first reaction is that if it is well designed you can definitely use kickstarter to get this off the ground.

Are there bong enthusiast bloggers you can get in touch with, send them a free wooden bong prototype, and ask them to give you feedback and maybe review it?

If you're interested in this, I'd say get a dozen made and either sell them individually or mail them to people (asking them first) who control traffic somehow (blogs, social media, etc) among people who would be your early adopters/customers.

Individually emailing bong bloggers and people who own 100,000 person weed facebook groups might be a lot of legwork, but sometimes you have to do things that don't scale.

Then if they like it, you can ask them to keep enjoying it while you throw up a landing page and a kickstarter campaign.

You can get a bunch of people pre-ordering your stuff on kickstarter and use that up front capital to make the first batch of stuff.

Maybe try to get on High Times somehow, I don't know.

Are there B list celebrities who are known potheads who you can somehow get to endorse the bong?

At the end of the day, I think it's important in the very short term (next 2 weeks) to build some prototypes yourself and then put them in the hands of people who would use it constantly and tell their friends to buy one.

I am currently finding some great talent on Fiverr for really short money - had one of my "flat" logos redesigned by a fellow with pagemaker skillzs ... small medium and large logos added more vivid colors shading and dimensional depth $5 plus a $10 tip for the two additional sizes and 50 cent Fiverr fee was $15.50 in total iirc.

Every skill in the book on fiverr with detailed provider satisfaction ratings and pay by paypal if there is any disagreement/scams/fraud you are protected.

Really you just need to be the product/program manager and can task out work on Fiverr, Elance, Odesk etc but Fiverr folks are the least hassle as most offshore in areas where a few dollars still go a long way!!!

This is pretty much my main source of income eBay, Amazon, eCommerce, I also run some websites and Youtube channels where I teach these methods to people and sell some programs on the subject as well which makes a little extra income.

Not sure if you'd have any interest in selling on eBay but I lost my Paypal account, currently have a merchant account but 99% of people on eBay refuse to pay with anything but Paypal so sales have tanked. I'm actually looking for people I could supply with a product which sells all day long, little competition. In order to make it worthwhile for either of us though it couln't be a new account with low selling limits, ideally be able to sell min 10k a month ideally more like 50k to 100k. My account is good for 3.5 million a month but again without Paypal not much going on eBay.

Not by any means trying to discourage you from bongs as weed stuff is big business but just a heads up, do a quick google search on "high risk merchant processing". The third party aggregators like Stripe, Paypal, etc won't let you process payments through them and even traditional merchant processors often won't take that on which means you have to go to a high risk processor. Some charge as much as 12 to 14%. Some have a rolling reserve for 90 days to as much as 6 months. Sometimes you can only get offshore processing which is a huge headache as every customer has to call their card issue and tell them to let the trasnaction go thorugh, etc. Now these types of industries pay very well because of that barrier to entry but it's also a huge pain in the ass. I have to keep 3-5 payment processors on hand at all times incase something gets shutdown.
