It's pretty boring this season.

Don't debate me.

The show has clearly been in a decline since the end of season 3 and even more so once Ragnar was killed and the sons had their vengeance. It's becoming harder and harder to watch. It became less about adventure, exploration and conquering your enemies and more about cucks, sex, betrayal and woman power. May not make it through the entire season.

What makes it worse is that the real Viking history is pretty interesting.

Don't debate me.

Aethelstan, Ragnar, Ecbert - these were the best characters

I lot interest when the girl power kicked in too much. Shield maidens are major cringe to even start out with.

I don't think I'll bother with any future seasons unless I hear rave reviews that it has changed.

I never rated it that highly even at its peak but it's been going downhill pretty steadily since that point.

Starting from (SPOILERS)

1) Lagertha sudden hair change
2) Buddha+fat budda man
3) Thora not escaping with Hvirtsek. Freidys remaining in the camp after letting everyone in.
4) Random sex scene between Bjorn and soft king
5) Failed coup + saving brother in battle + failed coup
6) Lagertha falling in love+going crazy+going spiritual
7) Random Floki death after seeing a cross in the middle of a fucking cave
8) MarySue LagerthaV2.0 (Gunnhild)

Girlpower and mutilated history aside, this season appears to have been filmed by someone who has absolutely no sense of storytelling or tension or aesthetics whatsoever. A complete and total waste of time.

The worst moment of the series was watching the utterly boring and irrelevant Lagertha prance around with her newly-found ivory hair and dramatically declare that "the meaning of life is suffering." Bitch, it took you 5 seasons to discover that?

Conclusion: *yawn*

I thought the worst part was the utter waste of time that was the entire Floki story line. I was actually intrigued by it at the start but it just went absolutely nowhere and had no purpose.

But yeah, Lagertha coming back with a terrible emo hair colour and attitude was up there.

RE: Who's watching Vikings on the History channel?
It was a mistake to spread the 5th season to 20 episodes. They were largely all dull, uninspiring, lot of plot lines went nowhere, no new exotic locations, just the same Kattegat, the dulll Wessex, the bleak Iceland story that had potential to be fresh and interesting but went nowhere.

Vikings just spent time fighting and betraying each other instead of discovering new lands and fighting for new glories. It's just a soap opera where everyone dresses in ugly grey robes and it always rains.

They would have better made 10 or even just 5 good quality episodes of Vikings discovering Mediterranean and working as team while kicking some Muslim ass instead. In the show they sort of attempted that but abandoned too quickly.

The Paris stories were pinnacle of the series. It went all uphill before that and it goes all downhill after that.

I was very hyped when Floki discovered Iceland, and brought people there, acting like a prophet it was pretty cool. I thought he would be implied as the ancestor to all the Icelandic poets that left the Norse myths alive to our day. But that stroyline got exponentially more empty and miserable.

I can't believe they cancelled Marco Polo and this garbage goes on and on. Michael Hurst had one job, recreate Viking history. Harold Hadrada, Guthrum, Erik the red, Ivan Eriksson, the Runs in Russian, the Normans in Sicily and finally William the conqueror. One job

Don't debate me.
