I do want to point out that just because girls are easy doesn't mean your AA will be magically gone, and tt is also not necessarily "easy" to fix even if you do know the girls are open to you (I speak from experience). BUT you DO have to recognize that you have a problem and work towards it. This is by far the most important part. Also, supplement with online stuff.

I'm 5' 10" - not short but not got that exciting 6 foot plus factor that really defines a man as tall.

I'm surprised how many Asians are as tall as me, quite a few much taller and bigger.

Must be all that hormone injected beef they are eating from McDonalds etc.

PS - the options trading I'm doing is eeeeeeeeeeasy. And to live somewhere decent, in a good neighbourhood, close to BTS (I can walk it) with a good sized condo that has a pool and balcony, modern furnishings, a good view not looking over a swamp or some depressing highway, you are not going to find it cheaper than 18K a month. The ones I saw for 15K were lacking in several of those factors. This place at 20K was the only one that had it all. I took it while I could and I'm glad.

It's still half the price of a single room in a shared household in a shithole in London!

Peace borthers... I'm going to Siam to get internet and mobile sorted and maybe buy a DVD player for the condo too. Gotta get use out of that big Samsung TV in there!

Oh, and approach girls of course.

if you're talking bangkok i'd be surprised if as many as 5% of asians there were hitting 5'10+. they are pretty freaking short, around 5'7 average.

Had a LOL momment this morning.

I called the lift to my floor, 6/F, and got in. It stank like someone had taken a dump in it. I held the doors open to air it out but it wouldn't go. I thought, fuck this, I'm not getting in here coz you know the next person to get in is going to be one of the model types that live in this condo, and she'll forever associate me with this stank-ass smell.

So I sent the lift away and watched as it desceneded to the 1/F. I called it back, got in, the smell was still there and I thought fuck it, let's just get out of here.

5/F, the fucking lift bell pings and who should get in but some new French girl, must be late teens or early 20s, a bone fide 8, verging on 9.

I'm glad for you that you've found a place you like but I have everything you just mentioned and I'm paying 5900 baht p/m (also 2 month rolling contract). It's probably not as swanky as your place but I have to point out to other guys that it is very possible to find a great place for well under 18k.

There is no way a 5,900 baht condo (sure it's a condo and not an apartment?) is going to be any anything similar to a 20k condo in Ekkamai. I also believe Gift has a one bedroom, not a studio.

While 20k definitely isn't necessary for a decent place in BKK, I think its hard to find a decent condo for under 10 anywhere near the BTS.

You can find all that cheaper than 18k a month, I posted a list of places in another thread (or was it this one?) and some of those have all that you mention for 10-13k a month.

You're paying tourist prices and more than you need to for someone looking to budget.

My understanding is that a condo would be owned by an individual, while apartments are all owned by the building. My experience in Thailand is that condos are generally nicer, where as most apartments I've seen are Thai style shoeboxes. Condo buildings also seem to be maintained better, are newer, and have a lot more variations between the rooms due to different owners having them designed differently. Condo buildings are also generally much bigger and more western.

I've looked at a lot of condos and apartments at OnNut, Victory Monument, and Sathorn areas and there is quite a big difference in quality between them.

20K for a nice condo on Ekamai... sounds very reasonable to me. I was paying 25K for a baller condo on Thonglor. I was also walking distance to J. Ave/Villa Market/Demo/Funky etc... Ekamai is one of the better spots in the city to live so he is paying a premium for it. You can't say a condo around Victory Monument in even close to the same category.

If you have the money I would live on Thonglor/Ekamai before anywhere else.

Best condo I have seen under 15 was in Akoi soi 24 for 11k. Maybe 300M from the bts. On Nut had a few in that range too.

6-10K gets you a cool studio, furnished, and bed with the locals. 10-18 is comfortable with a pool, little gym, sometimes security and a tv with internet sometimes. 18+ is just ballin with some ballin expats.

Again I'm not disparaging anybody's choice of apartment as it's all relative to what people value in location or whatever.

I'm disagreeing with Gift in that you can find good places for well under 18k if you search for them or get recommendations from people who know where to look, already evident from numerous people in this thread and the multitude of others on BKK.

I don't want to take the real focus away from Gift's thread but I felt I should point that out for others considering BKK as a destination.

I live in BKK and I pretty much agree. Far too many white people in this country. I wish they would bulldoze the red light districts, enforce the laws regarding prostitution (I.E. get rid of it), and run out all of the fat and slovenly sex tourists.

It will never happen though because there is far too much money at stake and it's been like this for too long.
