I have noticed some odd behaviour in myself though. Yesterday for example, I thought fuck it, I'll go out to Siam, do some shopping for bits for the condo, and approach if I see some nice girls.

He said "Taxi?" - I pretty much stopped and stared this mothetrfucker down. He let out some Thai tirade of under-his-breath abuse. I came really close to having a fight with the fucker. Not clever and all because of some self-inflicted psychosis!

But weirdly, after the exhaustion of walking round in that kind of "fight" state for an hour or so, I got into a post-adrenalin almost relaxed state of honestly not giving a fuck about anything. A very solid and grounded feeling. And I noticed there that I was looking at girls without any thoughts, positive or negative and the way they looked back at me was totally different. One girl almsot looked she was licking her lips, she had these massive saucer eyes that Ross Jeffries described as the "doggy dinner-bowl" look. I saw it, it was as clear as day.

Anyway, I'm going out to buy food. I pretty much just consumed sugar, caffine and alcohol yesterday. I don't feel good! But I didn't smoke so that is a victory.

Don't get this the wrong way: You have some deeper psychological issues - at least in respect to women.

I think you have maybe tuned in on the wrong channel inside your head. Your expectations to be adored and woman throwing themselves at you just because they are thai girls is quite frankly absurd. Walk around the mall not even with the intention of picking up but just browsing or shopping and chat to girls who work in stores in a normal manner, about the shit they sell. If you get a good vibe from a girl then fair enough ask for her number or slip her yours on paper or business card so she doesn't get embarrassed in front of her colleagues or boss.

Wise words from AIB. I was in the MBK arcade area at the weekend and while my regular was embarrassing herself on the dance machine, I was watching multiple 15 year old schoolboys roundhouse the fuck out of the punching machine beside us. Their accuracy and power were something to behold. As much as this advice is bandied about to every farang, don't underestimate the power of a seemingly small and skinny Thai man. You will hear apparently derogatory comments made in your presence by one or two Thai who think you cannot understand their language but realise they are mostly being open and honest with their friends about a white man. A few Thai girls I've been with openly tell overweight people that they're fat, tell Indians they smell of spice etc. I heard a Thai boy on the BTS this morning, referencing myself, comment to his friends he was "bumping into a tall farang" because he didn't have anything to hold on to. Another white guy hearing only the word farang would have been annoyed by the kids apparently mocking him.

Also realise how lucky you are being white. Many Thai would give anything to have your precious white skin.

Find something else to do with your time then - preferably SOCIAL.
1) Take Thai language courses. (this should be number one priority)
2) Learn muay thai or taekwondo or mma.
3) Check meetup.com for the many different groups across the city.
4) Set up a few dates a week with women from the internet and, eventually, that you meet in public.
5) Drink whiskey instead of beer - at nice clubs and with Thai women, or some good Thai wingmen.

Yes, it's a good idea, but it will limit your interaction with the outside world. It sounds like you need to interact with people more rather than less. Nevertheless, that food won't spoil in the freezer and will definitely come in handy at some point.

EDIT: If you're still hanging in, I'll look you up when I make it back up to BKK - most likely around the end of the month. I'll be headed up to the north but probably stop in bangkok for a few days and go out with some Thai friends there. Maybe can offer some pointers and show you some good spots. My guess is you'll have it figured out by then.

Hey thanks man, that's a good tip.

I was made quite sick just 2 nights ago by trying the street food on my Soi for the first time. It's a shame as it looked good, tasted good, was only 40 baht and there was a lots of it including lovely morning glory greens.

But it messed me up - it had that pork they keep hanging up under a lightbulb - that cannot be good in terms of food hygeine? Plus some wantons that probably contain dog from those 1,000 dog skulls unearthed by that meatball factory the other day... or maybe it was the pork belly, who knows?

I like my little cafe in Thong Lor - they overdo the salt/MSG/soy a bit but on the whole, 50 baht for a chicken with cashews and rice, pretty good.

If I see Thai people eating at the street food stalls I figure it's a good sign as most with be locals and visit the same places regularly. At least with the street food places you can how the foods being stored and cooked, go into a small restaurant / café and it might look nicer inside but you've no idea how the food is stored or cooked in the back.

Why was getting food a problem? There's street food available everywhere and a 7/11 every 100 yards that sells food 24/7. It's easy to find food in Thailand at any time of the day.

Do you make a bigger deal out of minor things than they really are by any chance?
