Definitely going to be binge watching this and knocking back a couple of brews on V Day.

2nd Season preview for your consideration:

Some major power battles are going to be had this season.

"Despite their numbers, their pussyness means I was barely hurt. 2 black eyes and a cut nose, no big deal. I could sense the fear in them so as they were walking I chased them down and told them to "go home". They all left like little girls." - Revelations 21:4

I liked this show initially. For me it jumped the shark very quickly, after the SPOILER episode where Frank goes back to his old school and all this gay stuff comes up.

Went ahead and skipped this episode during my rewatch of the series.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
I'm on episode 11 and I think it jumped the shark a little bit. Lol at this corny dialogue exchange between Zoe Barnes and the beta orbiter:

Quote:B: He was older.
Z: A lot? Yeah.
B: Was he a journalist, or did he work on the hill?
Z: I'd rather not say.
B: All right.
Z: He was someone I looked up to for a while.
B: Why did it end?
Z: He has a wife. We both knew it was gonna end eventually. I mean, it was really it was fucked up. The first night we spent together, he told me he was gonna hurt me and then discard me. And when it ended, I told him that he'd done neither. But it does hurt.
B: I won't hurt you.
Z: Yeah, you can't promise me that.
B: Yes, I can.

Laugh

I think the terms beta and alpha are overused but in this case the shoe fits.

I told my gf not to disturb me this weekend. She got offended that I wasn't planning to watch it together with her, so she downloaded the whole 2nd season to watch until this weekend and catch up with the story, in an attempt to prove to me that she is THAT kind of girl.

Not wanting to give away anything too heavy...but there's a Pussy Riot video at the end of one of the early episodes.

They're fucking terrible. Take Bikini Kill and make them Russian to get an idea.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
I'm a few episodes into season 3, it's decent so far.

The thinly veiled Putin criticism and was lame and the pussy riot video during the credits was completely uncalled for. I frantically hit the mute button. My God, what cacophonous bullshit.

Most of the characters on this show are pretty jaded and dark but I find the major female characters particularly repulsive. I really, really do not like Mrs.Underwood. It's like the writers can't decide whether or not she is sociopath; they keep adding these unconvincing glimpses into her "human" side. I also dislike that female character who played the Whip in season 2 (the one Remy Danton was banging, I can't remember her name).

There's just something very vulgar and off-putting about the both of them. Women like this who crave "power" and dominance over others are psychologically disturbed. I think to a degree this is natural in males since we instinctively aspire to "alpha" status to increase mating opportunities, but in a female there's no reason for it. It's just unnatural.

At least Frank Underwood is funny in a twisted sort of way.

RE: House of Cards (TV)
The whole season 3 is chock full of power women and cunty behavior on their part. The final episode (spoiler alert) where Mrs. Underwood bitches and moans about not getting what she expected, not being co-president, etc. was classic. But her walking out on him makes zero sense. Think of the exact same kind of cunt that Hillary Clinton must have been in the same situation - she stuck it out because she knew, like it or not, that Slick Willie was her ticket to continued power. She never would have walked out on him and Mrs. Underwood would not have done so either, being consistent with her character.

Another general observation - it seemed like throughout the series, Kevin Spacey kept losing his southern accent, vacillating between that and sounding like an old gay man (which of course, he is IRL).

Yeah, for example the scene toward the end where Claire wants it both ways - she wants it all.

If a woman ever said that to me I'd probably end it. It's a sign that she desires something that will only bring her misery in the long run.

The problem is that so many women now really do think that they can have it all - a man who will dominate her but also treat her with respect and dignity.

I think that a lot of women naturally desire that which will only destroy them in the long run. They need a really good upbringing to teach them the error of this. The problem is that now, even if she has a good family to teach her, she has access to the world at any time. It's hard to learn to suppress one's animal proclivities when our Facebook feeds are filled with garbage. Normal dudes just can't compete.

To me the whole season 3 was like a 10 hours long boring and predictable "save the world from evil Russians" propaganda piece, filled with moping beta men and dominating bitches. What a disappointment after the first 2 stellar seasons.
